  1. My point all along was that he was 'one' easily replaceable (Alnwick) and 'two' not as good or highly rated as most Buddies thought (Hence why he didn't get that BIG move). I said it before and I will say it again. I saw him play for years before he joined us and he was bang average. I would say my point has been proven. Unless you can give me some evidence to prove otherwise????
  2. If he is on bigger money then good luck to him, if he isn't then it just proves my point even more that he isn't as highly rated as some/majority of our fans may have thought
  3. I am not here to say 'I told you so', but I knew from the start that Vaclav would not get the BIG move that many on here thought he would. He did fantastically well in his time with us and fully deserves his (no doubt) bigger salary. As for a much bigger club coming in for him......... I said from the beginning that was never going to happen. Good luck though Vaclav, you deserve the financial security this move will likely bring. You certainly done us a turn.
  4. Absolute Bol#o#ks!!! It is all very well them punishing Aberdeen and Celtic by calling off their matches, but don't they realise that essentially St Mirren and Hamilton are being given the same punishment. It should be a 3-0 win for Saints and Accies. St J should be given the same for last weekend.
  5. Callum Waters was in my opinion the weakest player in our starting X1 most weeks last season. I would be gutted if we signed him to be honest.
  6. Best: McAvennie, Fitzpatrick, Torfason, McGarvey, Scanlon, Dorman, Lavety, Money, S. Thompson (Long list that I would struggle to seperate) Worst: A.Bone, Gardiner, Archibald, Charnley, Gow, Baillie,
  7. Scottish Prem is miles better than Eng League 2.
  8. Harry was great for us! Would love to see him back for sure! Only doubt I would have (if any) is that he only played in the Championship for us, never in the Premier. Would he be as good making the step up? I would be willing to chance it!
  9. ... And you wonder why you are not taken seriously on here!!!!!!!!
  10. Would be nice. I reckon he would be out of our price range though. I think he could have a few offers from the English Championship.
  11. Great news! Ryan is my favourite player at the club. He has been absolutely phenomenal for us. Could be the best signing we will make this summer.
  12. Let me ask you another question, if I can. Do you only rate Victor Munoz on his time at St Mirren or do you also take into account his time at Barca?
  13. Where did I say I rate him as average? I said he is a 'DECENT' keeper I said he was average at Liberec.
  14. Why does anybody bother bringing anything up then? I think it was a perfectly legitimate point. It was also a point of circumstances. I just happen to live in Czech republic and follow Czech football. I also knew a fair bit about Vaclav's career before he came to Saints. Based on that I thought it might interest people to hear that our current/ex GK has improved massively since he came to us. I also aired MY OPINION that for a player to be regarded as one of our best there has to be longevity and some success for me. I stress this is ONLY my opinion, if you don't like it, it's fine. Taking all that into account, why not bring it up?????
  15. What exactly is my theory? Liberec fans thought he was average while he was there. Fact! I also thought he was average while he was there.. Fact! St Mirren fans think he has been superb for St Mirren... Fact! I also think he has been superb for St Mirren... Fact! I think that based on the 5 or 6 years, I have known him as a player, I would average that out to be 'decent'..... MY OPINION. Just because the players you are playing with go onto bigger and better things doesn't mean that makes YOU any better. John Mcginn kept Jon Robertson out of the team. What clubs are they at now? Why can't people just accept that when he was at Liberec he failed? Thankfully when he came to Saints he started to play great and hit a run of form. He has been nothing short of superb for us. I feel like I am being vilified here because I dared to say he was average before he joined. Not just my opinion, but also the opinion of the fans of the team he played for. Why can't some people just accept that?
  16. First 3 playing at a much higher level than St. Mirren. Filip Nguyen at Slovan Liberec is a higher level than St Mirren too. You just have to look how recently they won the Czech league (champions in 2002, 2006 & 2012) and their European record ( 3 times in the Europa Lge group stage in the past 7 years, qualifying for the knockout stages once) to confirm that.
  17. Over the 4 years...... Four that I remember. Tomas Koubek, Martin Dubravka. Ondrej Kolar and Filip Nguyen
  18. Yes I did, and I do believe that had a MASSIVE impact on creating his 'hero' status It is a fact, that when you think of a player, you often think of specific moments that create their legendary status. That was Hladky's
  19. Real, Barca or Bayern perhaps? I am showing some of these posts to Czech fans over here and they are choking on their beer. Come on man, calm down. At best he will get a move to RFC or some English Championship team, but even then I am not so sure about that. We are perhaps his level. We will see what happens to his career over the next year or two. Also, he is almost 30. If he was 22 or 23, then I would say, that there could be a chance. I predict he might get a decent move like the one's mentioned above and then his career will gradually fade out. He is just too old to say that he will go much further. I can tell you one thing for sure, he has had his chance in CZ, and none of the bigger clubs over here would touch him
  20. I stand by that point. He played in CZ until he was 28 and did next to zero. He was bang average. I stand by my initial post too. He was VERY AVERAGE in CZ. (That is why we were able to sign him). He played enough games to make an impact, but ultimately wasn't good enough to hold down a place in the Liberec team. In his last year there he had his chances. I think at one point he was given around 9 or 10 games on the bounce, but ultimately lost his place and was moved on to us. I knew of him myself because I got to a game almost every week over here. I follow the CZ game closely, but my wife's family are all Liberec fans who attend week in week out and they told me that he wasn't a bad keeper, just absolutely average and definitely not the best keeper at the club at any point over his 4 years there. Based on all of this, when he moved to us, I wasn't very excited. He moved onto us and has somehow managed to seriously improve his performances. To the point, he has been superb. But a year and a bit isn't long enough to be classed as one of our best ever keepers. If he did it over 3, 4 or 5 years then I would say yes. I am sorry, but only stepping up to the plate for a year and a half of your career when you are almost 30 isn't good enough. If I hadn't been living over here in CZ and like everyone else had only known him the past year and a half, I would be raving about him too. In my opinion, to be regard as one of a club's greatest players you need to tick a number of boxes. Longevity, great performances, win trophies. Hladky only ticks one of those boxes, so there are a few keepers ahead of him in my greatest Saints goalkeeper list.
  21. You have completely lost me now. He was there from 2015 - Jan 2019. I said that he was still a Liberec player a year and 4 months ago And... I never said he IS average. I said he WAS average at Liberec. You certainly have a way of taking people's words, twisting and using them to back your own agenda. Get a grip of yourself man! Over and out for me.
  22. You do realise that he was a Liberec player just 1 year & 4 months ago. Hardly years ago
