I just love all the sage wisdom on here around KM's managerial/coaching abilities and the circumstances under which he left Rangers and now Livi. I (like everyone else on here regardless of the pish they might spout) know the square root of eff all about the aforementioned. It did seem to me that he had a training ground meltdown at an utterly shambolic Rangers, because he simply couldn't take any more of the nonsense, but like I say, I don't know. I'll tell you what I do know about Kenny Miller though. For literally his entire career he has been the absolute epitome of a model professional. He has taken whatever talents he was blessed with and maximised them to the limit. In an depressingly turgid era for Scottish International football, he was a bright light, was always available and deservingly finished his international career as something like the 5th of 6th highest Scotland scorers of all time. At the age of 38 I expect he is still twice as fit as umpteen top division players much more junior to him in years. Maybe (just maybe), he might be a little past it for what we need, but I wouldn't bank on it. If we could get him on some sort of appearance based deal, I'd accept him with open arms. I realise that is probably unlikely though and I'd reluctantly agree that he probably isn't worth the risk of an expensive contract.

In fairness mate, I think it’s maybe a trifle unrealistic to think he’s going to say in a post match interview “Yes Jimbo, I can put my finger on the exact reasons we lost that one today. It’s because I’m shite and all the players I’ve signed are shite too”.

As much as I still don’t like his delivery and I still find it hard to imagine him being inspirational, the actual content of what he said there I think was fine. He seems an honest big bloke and I’m sure he’s really frustrated. Let’s see where we stand when the transfer window closes and from that point on we can start to judge properly.

I would definitely agree that very often teams struggle to break down 10 men. I’m not sure they often struggle against 10 men. My point was more that we stopped getting gubbed when the went down to 10.

FS I wasn't there and I know you see things at the game that maybe you don't see on telly, but I'm really struggling to see what you thought was positive about the second half? Sure we didn't concede three goals again like we did in he first, but we created literally nothing and still could've lost more goals. The only positive is that we didn't. It's often the way with these games where the result is done and dusted early doors, but more often that not it says more about the approach of the team in the lead, rather than any meaningful improvement by the team getting gubbed. Last week the second half "improvement" was against 10 mean and they still had arguably the better chances.

I’ve never seen them and for no sensible reason whatsoever I’ve always thought of them as a bit of a “lassies’ band”. Don’t know why? Also I believe Donnie Munro is/was a big unionist so that put me off as well. The live version of Loch Lomond is an absolute classic though. It was the staple of many Tartan Army trip CD.

Aye great town. We spent a couple of nights there when Scotland played Italy in Milan under Walter Smith. Lovely locals very friendly. No that Jimmy H would remember as both nights we spent there he was quite literally the drunkest man in the world.

Without gettin all melancholy and teary eyed, I'd love to get temporarily transported back to one of those 1977 games. Wouldn't mind if it was a late First Div game or an early Premier Div game, but I'd love to experience it as an adult, just to see if it was any different to the perception of a 10/11 year old.

I consider myself very fortunate when it comes to golf courses I've played. In 1997, me and a group of friends started an annual trip (from Jersey) with the idea being that each year we would go away for a long weekend and play one of the courses that had hosted the Open as well as some of the better qualifier courses in the area.. We opened a bank account and all stuck £50 a month into it to cover most of the cost. Often these ideas start off with great intentions and peter out after maybe a few years. To our credit we saw it through and 13 years later we completed the set at Portrush (I know there's 14 courses, but the year we played Troon, we played Prestwick as well). I played my best golf at Birkdale (shot 5 under net), but despite playing like an absolute see you next Tuesday, Carnoustie (the very first one we played) remains my absolute favorite. What a brilliant course. And Poz, in 1997 it was only 50 quid! Some fantastic qualifier courses too like, Western Gailes, Glasgow Gailes, North Berwick, Gullane, Hillside, West Lancs, Southport & Ainsdale etc. In the Paisley area my favourite courses are Kilmacolm, Paisley (great views), Elderslie and I've got a soft spot for Lochwinnoch as I used to play there when I was a kid. Used to hump my clubs from Foxbar down to Paisley Cross and get the bus down to Lochwinnoch to play there. Used to do a few memorable treks for a wee kid. Clubs over shoulder, bus from Foxbar down to the toon centre. Train to Glasgow central, walk up to Bath Street, bus out to Hogganfield Loch to play Lethamhill. Similar one but from GC took the low level train out to Dalmuir. Happy days indeed.

Holy shit! Horrible horrible thing and by coincidence a little bit close to "home" for me this week. Don't get me wrong, I normally cannae stand the outpouring of "Oh my god, About 3 years ago, I was in a pub in (insert city name) about half a mile from that pub that got attacked last night etc etc. However, I'm in Liguria at the moment and drove across that very bridge two days ago. Wee bit of a sobering thought. Poor people though. Cannae even imagine the terror of that. Even about 100k down the coast in Imperia, there's been sirens going all day. Not sure if related as I know reports are saying that hospitals are being used far and wide.

I agree with pretty much all of your post, but let's not lose sight of the fact that we only competed because they were down to 10 men. Prior to that I had the fear big time and thought it looked liked it could have become a cricket score. We will never know though. All we can judge the performance on is based on the way the game panned out and in that respect, you are correct to say we competed.

It's not still straight to penalties is it? I assumed that was only for the group stages.

Exactly WeeBud, it’s not only nonsense, it’s actually a disgusting thing to suggest. And thanks for confirming re the incident. I hadn’t seen any evidence and there were suggestions on other forums that the furore was to do with a medical incident.
