  1. Can anyone clear up something that has always puzzled me? Either my understanding of the capacity of Love Street has always been flawed, or official attendances back in the day were even more understated than some believe they are today. My understanding was that the capacity of the old Stadium at its highest was 53000, To my mind the first redevelopment that would have decreased that capacity was to the East Terracing around 79/80 which I understood reduced the capacity to 35000. Then of course once the seats went in the capacity reduced dramatically. So, thinking about games such as the 77 cup game against Dundee Utd, the 77 Div 1 game against Clydebank and the 77 Premier Div game against Rangers, they had recorded attendances of 16300, 14700 and 24500. Given that all of these games were pre redevelopment of the East terracing that suggests that in all of these games the ground was more than half empty. My memory albeit as a 10/11 year old was that ground was rammed for all of those games. So, were we a bit fibby about attendances back then, or is my understanding of the capacity a load of old bollocks?
  2. I’d go 18 team top league. Ideally then two divisions below. A Northern Division and a Southern Division. Save on travel costs for the smaller clubs and hopefully more local derby matches. Champions from each of those divisions get promoted at the expense of the bottom two teams in the top division. Could even do second in each of the lower divisions play off against each other for the right to play off against the 3rd bottom team in the top division for a final relegation/promotion slot.
  3. Outside of the bigots, the Edinburgh teams and Aberdeen, surely there isn’t a better away support in Scotland. Killie maybe?
  4. For any Buds staying over in Inverness or at least not rushing off after the game, I’d recommend heading straight to The Gellions in Bridge Street. Jimmy H and I will definitely be heading there to watch the resident band Schiehallion. Superb Scottish folk band and the place is usually bouncing when they are on (they usually start about 5.30/6.00). Please ignore this advice if you are of a unionist persuasion.
  5. I think the point being made is that if we didnae then we should have. Anyway, I’d rather play them with a full strength team. However, I went to the first game of the season. Neither Smith nor Magennis were playing and Morgan didnae score. If memory serves me correctly we skelped them 3-1. Bring them on. With or without.
  6. Nice one. Haven’t seen any highlights of the recent games posted for a while.
  7. Do we no get to see the proper highlights now?
  8. Only 327 Pars there today. That’s poor for them.
  9. Cannae seem to access SMTV. VPN appears to be switched on. Any ideas?
  10. Dr. Nanjani corrected a turn in my eye when I was 18 months old in 1968. As for the video, if you’re the kinda guy who watches ISIS executions on the Internet, then watch it. If you’re not, then don’t.
  11. Unrewatchable As for the panda. No chance. Way too irritating. In a game of shag, marry or punch, she’d end up with the same colour eyes.
  12. I don't think it was a promo video, more like a piss take of promo videos - "look, Paisley has an abbey, a museum and a pub". Please let it be so. Even then it’s still unwatchable.
  13. What's not to like? It had alcohol, pizza, football and a panda wi' tits. Seriously tho! What the f**king f**k was that? I’m very reluctantly going to have to guess that it was some sort of “promotional” video for the city of culture thing? If that was the standard of the material it’s nae wonder we got gubbed aff a shitehole like Coventry!
  14. That is absolutely feckin horrendous. No more words. I can’t unwatch that.
  15. That was my first ever League Away game. Remember it well.
  16. That was indeed a magnificent game for the neutral, but it wouldn't make it into my top 5 on account of it being so effin heartbreaking to throw away a 2 goal lead in the last 10 minutes.
  17. Don't specifically remember either of those two things but that's not to say they didn't happen. My other main memory of that match was the carnage at half time out the back of the North Bank. The manky mob were launching hawf bricks from their bogs into the St. Mirren bogs. Could be wrong, but I think it was that incident that led to the wire mesh roof being fitted above both sets of bogs.
  18. The first home game against Rangers in 77 was a cracker too. 0-1 down 2-1 up 2-3 down finished 3-3.
  19. Aye. I’d love to say I remember it like it was yesterday, but in reality it does feel every bit of the 30 odd years ago that it was. I was 18 at the time. It’s definitely up there in my top 5 games at Love Street and probably in my top 3 night games. Hammarby was my last European game as I moved to Jersey in 86 so missed out on the Tromso and Mechelen games.
  20. That’s brilliant. I’ve never seen that before. The old Marching In video had the 3rd goal in it but what was the rest of that report used for? Was most of it just cut from the final edit of the video? The most hilarious thing about that night is that the official attendance was listed as something like 11000. It was much more than that.
