  1. Hmmmm, not sure what to think on this anymore........ Are we in another period of total radio silence? Is the CIC, erm co-operative a go-er or not? Who does Richards PR? Is the club shop still a mess? Who is ultimately responsible for the fishel site that keeps crashing, probably a commercial and revenue generating part of the club set up? Why can't fans buy Saints merchandising online like other clubs, apart from some strips, sometimes, through a third party? Has the use of the St Mirren Park facilities resource been increased as in all proposed business plans? If not, why? (St Johnstone have one funeral per week, St Mirren have one a year, etc, etc) Are these issues for the Commercial Director? The old board are tired, run out of ideas and want out, is there any potential for a new board or are they planning to stay now? Whats happened to Gordon Scott or Ken McGeough? (sorry spelling) Are any or all of these things linked? Just what is going to happen? Why am I asking so many questions? Certainly don't have any answers. Nurse, pills please, may regret this post in the morning, I'm sure it's all going to be fine........ A fan.
  2. I agree with this post. Think all previous financial pledges should be null and void and securely destroyed. Too easy for any new bidders or consortium to think 'aye well, we have 800 buddies already in our pocket giving us a £100K a year head start' Not true. Start again and convince both those same people and some new ones that you have the best ideas for the future of SMFC.
  3. To be honest I find the whole thing a bit disrespectful now. The lack of information or updates to the hundreds of hard core Saints fans (like you and me) who supported this bid and backed it up with a pledge of their own hard earned cash shows nothing but contempt. I liked Richard and thought the CIC could have been be a new broom bringing fresh ideas to the club and town while also delivering better results on the park. The total blanking silence of recent months is deafening. Even if tomorrow it's all back on again, can CIC supporters really say they would still back it with the same enthusiasm now? Not sure I can. Time for a re-think with the positive aspects of this bid transferred into a different ownership model.
  4. With the greatest respect Div, Richard should be doing that himself. It costs nothing and he used to do it fine. If its over, delayed, still happening, whatever. Best to hear from the man himself.
  5. Seems like it. The most disappointing thing is the way the relatively high profile individuals concerned seem to have chucked it. Not updating basic information sources such as this forum or the Facebook page, when they were all over it when it suited them, is a shame. If there is a major factor or blockage stopping it happening then come out and say so, don't just disappear and pretend it never happened. Poor show.
  6. Richard Atkinson will be needing a tin helmet with all the abuse and sarcastic remarks coming his way these days. Time for another statement or update perhaps? Sadly the whole thing seems to be running out of steam and credibility. 10,000 Hours Facebook presence, this Saints supporters forum or even the official site threads not updated anymore, shop is a shambles and the weeks just keep on passing by. Lots of positives around too, stadium looks much better with some branding, team is as good as its been for some time, etc. Maybe the CIC bid could use the fans skills audit or whatever it was called to seek some final help and support to finally push over the line? As an example I have experience setting up and running retail ecommerce websites, do they need someone to get Saints online merchandise up and running? Or will this supporters skills resource only be used when (or now if) the CIC deal finally goes through? Where is GLS Gordon Scott in all of this now? Come on Gordon you can't just come back Lazarus like and then disappear again. We know you use this site, whats your take on it all now? Maybe the selling consortium could adjust the asking price to make it a reality? I for one hope it still happens as not too sure what will occur if it doesn't, probably nothing and we will lose the chance to make some positive changes. Hopefully one last push to get it over the line? Can we help? Steve.
  7. CIC gets a mention last night on Radio Scotland Skip on to about 21.30 on iplayer Your Call Link
  8. Here is an idea for a bit of light 'black and white' relief if and when this event happens. Allen (FS) and I have put together a wee 15 minute video on the dreaded 'H' word. For younger forum users, this relates to a European UEFA Cup match at Love Street in 1985 against Hammarby of Sweden. It's widely considered by some (me) as one of the worst ever results at Love Street in Paisley in over 114 years of football there. We lost in true 'snatching defeat from the jaws of victory' fashion, big time. It is so far unused/unseen footage filmed at the time of the Love Street Movie DVD over two years ago now. It again features the likes of Tony F, Bill Leckie, Stewart Gilmour and some posters from here. We tried to keep it funny, even though it is such dark subject. We could have a wee screening after the formal discussion only for those interested or who wanted to stay on. We would then publish online again afterwards free of charge of course, just for Shull. Dunno, just a thought, he says getting his coat........ Steve
  9. Thats a bit disappointing in a way, you could have let that run for a bit, ya bubble burster...........
  10. REA = good guy. However, no one has asked the most important question yet, what does the 'E' stand for? I think we should be told..........Eric? Ernie? Engelbert? Something embarrassing?
  11. My very first contribution to this thread.... I thought Richard Atkinson delivered a 'tour de force' performance tonight. Warm, devoid of ego and a very honest assessment of where are are now and where we want to be. Change is the key here. My fear is that only baby steps will be taken when what we really need is fundamental change not just to survive but to prosper. The same can be said of Scottish football as a whole. Letter bombs, sectarian nonsense, institutional bigotry, playing and spectating in freezing Scottish winter conditions, too expensive to attend games, protectionist SPL, kids playing Playstation and not sports? Its not only the OF that needs to change but even our own young men who play for the club as reported today. It needs to change and we can only (try to) educate and make things better for the future. As was said tonight, this may be the chance to make a radical difference to not just St Mirren but our wider community in Paisley and surrounding areas. A bit like doing the video stuff we do, you can never please all of the people all of the time. I felt tonight it's not some Reg Brearley scenario we are in but a time to move things forward in our own here and now generation. The club was at Love Street for 115 years alone and will still be here long after we are all long gone. 'Animal' and the lady at the front doing all the talking tonight probably have good reasons for their stance and objections to all these changes. We are all Buddies and should stick together. It is put up or shut up time. The best thing for all of us St Mirren fans to to do, is get involved. I may regret this post in the morning, oh hang on, it is the morning now.
  12. Superb turnout. Gone but not forgotten..............
  13. Also can't believe this. Totally top bloke and ultra true Buddie. Very sad indeed. RIP Derek.
  14. erm, cough, splutter, .....probably best to better stay straight and out of jail then. Thanks for the sound advice. Harte to score a wonder free kick on Saturday.
  15. Bobby, swap the Playstation for a Wii and I'm up for it...........
  16. Just a quick update on the DVD. Thanks for everyone’s messages saying they enjoyed the filum, and Chopper too. The general reaction is better than we could have hoped for. We started with a ‘you can’t please all of the people all of the time’ sort of approach and I think that was right. We have also been slightly overwhelmed with interest in it. There was a new batch from the disc duplicators today and people who want one should be able to get it tomorrow in Paisley. As Alan said above he has more stock and so do WH Smiths and HMV Braehead. Also for the first time the club have some at Love St in the Ticket Office and main reception in the Main Stand. Hope anyone who watches it, enjoys it. Cheers again. 17. HSS, you could try HMV at Braehead if you are passing.
  18. Well, big day tomorrow. Really hope all Saints fans enjoy it and thanks for your messages of support. Time will tell if its all worthwhile as it has been a lot of work, great effort by Allen and Stewart MacKenzie. Cheers again and if you are coming tomorrow be sure and say hello. All the best Steve
  19. Just to confirm all still set for Saturday screening and launch of the DVD. Mr Dougie Somner is the Guest of Honour, a top man. Allen, Stewart and I look forward to seeing some of you there if you can make it. Cheers Steve
  20. Hi all, All is (sort of!) going to plan with filming finished now and the big editing process underway. Wonder if any of you know a source of old images of Love Street that we could have access to. We have some, and been to most of the obvious places such as the Museum, PDE, previous books, etc, who have all been very helpful, but we could do with more. Does anyone on here know of any other untapped sources? All advice and suggestions welcome, even if it means raiding your own picture box tin in the cupboard (HSS?). Of interest is anything related to the stadium in Love Street (St Mirren Park) and surroundings before re-construction in its current form, with the earlier the better. Also any speedway pictures and images of the old stadium floodlights would be helpful. Send me a PM with any ideas or suggestions. Cheers and thanks Steve PS. Premier screening in Paisley 1st November, more details to follow……..
  21. Right Buds, last chance to make your mark for posterity and appear in this wee video production. We are filming upstairs in the Wallace Bar, Paisley before and after the Dumbarton and Aberdeen home games tomorrow Tuesday and this Saturday. Thanks very much to all contributors so far, everyone has been great. Here are the questions: What’s your earliest memory of Love St? Who was the best player you saw there, St Mirren and opposition? What’s your favourite place/seat in the stadium? What’s the funniest memory you have of the place? How do you feel about the new stadium? What is your abiding memory of Love St? It really is quite painless. Look forward to seeing you if you can make it. Cheers Steve
