I am coming into this discussion a bit late, however what a load of nonsense ....... Outside of Celtic not a single SPFL side would most likely make the play-off spots. I was a season ticket holder at Saints till I moved south with work in 2006 and have been a season ticket holder at London Road (Peterborough) ever since - support my local team and all that. Posh's defence this season is fairly honking, however their attack would wipe the floor with every SPFL side and would give Celtic's defence a stern test. Brentford, Leyton Orient, Wolves, Preston, Peterborough (despite the pish they have been churning out recently), Rotherham, Walsall, Swindon .....all of these would survive comfortably in a regular SPFL season (as in one where no-one starts on minus 15!!) And to say Harkins is playing at a lower level is also nonsense ......he was non-existent first half in the game v's Peterborough by all accounts and was allowed to be a world-beater by the pishest 45mins Peterborough have produced in years. This hasn't made him into Pele but do not doubt the quality he is playing in and with - sadly better than when he was with us - however an Oldham fan I know says "quality footballer but a workshy lazy fecker too" .........I think from what I have read on here and elsewhere that pretty much sums the guy up

I have read this thread through and through and am still undecided on many things in relation to this deal .........many questions left unanswered but also (cant believe am saying this) some very valid and sometimes almost reasoned posts from Sid and ktf So if Div, Tsu (or anyone) can you pm me Richards email address as there are a multitude of questions I have on the subject and they are not for the forum for lots of reason. I have a fairly straight-forward question here ......... Having held some senior positions with some sizeable companies I decided to take the plunge and set-up my own company and something is not right here - I have invested a lot of money in making my company work and will do absolutely everything in my power to ensure its success - I have to as I need to provide for my family and if it falters I am in some serious financial doo-doo but also because I care about it and want to see it continue to succeed. The thing that this whole thing smacks of is who is going to actuallly care ?? The CiC is a vehicle as I see it for these guys to buy the club and for it to be run by 'the community' - who we would hope would be St. Mirren supporters so of course they/we will all care but 99.9% of the community will not have any real input on a day-to-day basis. I havent read the various threads on this topic so dont know a helluva a lot about the man but if he is not investing a penny (so it doesnt hurt financially) does Mr. Atkinson care enough that if this all starts to go 'tits up' he will do absolutely everything in his power to ensure our future as unpalatable as some of these things are (as Mr. Gilmour has done for the past however many years) or will he merely think "Oh well that didnt work but it hasnt cost me anything - time to move on"

Nail on head hit there Billy If he reckons he is good enough to earn himself his 'dream' of playing for that manky mob then he is gonna need to perform every single game between now and the end fo the season. I dont care if that is his aim if he can do us a seriously good job between now and the end of May then thats good enough for me

First chance have had to post ......... My phone went mental yesterday when this got announced but the good news was it wasnt only Mr.Clueless filling me in with tremendous news of the signings but also Scumdee and Fake Saints fans cursing like feck and as good as congratulating me on the 2 signings that will win us the league and a cpl of **** fans going mental coz we have signed their best prospect on loan !!! All in all........ YA FCKIN WEE BEAUTY !!!! Bring on the title party and well done GM, AM, SG and SMFC for these 2 signings !!!

IMO McWhirter may very well have gone onto play for Scotland had he not had the first of his bad injuries The man is an SMFC legend and the fact that only just over 2K turned up for his testimonial match is probably the only time in my entire St.Mirren supporting life that I was embarrassed by our support.
