  1. Caprice is a right back who likes to come forward. Today he had 6 mins at a left winger. Hardly enough time to judge anyone. Newton had a poor 45 mins in his first game with us and turned out no bad. Some of our 'supporters' do not know what the word means. Maybe they should get a life/laid/go to the dancing just anything so that their whole world doesn't revolve around 90 mins of football every second week.
  2. Maybe, unlike some other fellow buds, I think we have some very good players and that is what makes the current situation so galling. I have seen some really poor players in the stripes in the past. We have a squad that maybe isn't big enough but surely is better than the current situation indicates. Teale, McGowan, McGinn, Newton, Thompson, Goodwin, Grainger and possibly Harkins would all find another gig in the SPL if released today. Its how they are performing as a team that is the concern. Today I wateched a team of First Division players and SPL rejects play us off the park but individually I would probably not rate higher than our players mentioned (besides their full-backs who looked classy). The formation, tactics and/or the mentality simply isnt working for now. I felt sorry for our 3 man midfield today as they were completely over-run. Harkins played too far forward and we only had a midfiled 3 against their 5 plus their full-backs. The formation today was a shambles.
  3. I am no football manger (thank God) but all I have heard about Thistle is they use their full-backs as wingers and Motherwell counteracted that by playing two wide men to stop the Thistle full-backs piling forward. So I was pretty amazed when the best and most considtent player we have in Gary Teale was on the bench. Even more surprised when I realised Gowser was dropped and we had a midfiled 3 against their midfield 5 AND two overlapping full-backs. Thistle played us off the park in the first half but thankfully they have very little up top to take advantage of their two excellent full backs. I thought Goodwin was very good in the first half. It really was robbery when we went ahead however Teale made a huge difference when he came on and kept their full back in his own half as well as getting in some good crosses. However the left side was wide open and they came forward at will and still rammed balls into the box. Gowser also made a huge difference when he came on. We now had two players who would put in continuous effort and not just wee start/stop runs then hang about for something to happen. Today was a shambles for me. Teale and McGowan dropped. Playing 4-3-1-2 against a 4-5-1 and not changing it. Playing so many players out of position (Caprice - a right back - came on to play left wing.). McLean and Harkins have skill but for me they do not have the work rate required for this League. Newton played on the right of midfield where he had a poor game by his standards. McGinn on his own in the middle. Long ball tactics for 90 mins nearly. The only time we got some passing going was when Gowser came on. I really like Danny as a person and a representatvie of the Club but his confidence seems shot to pieces and desperation was in the air today. How long can we continue like this?
  4. I like a bit o' verse But now Seamus is in the hearse We have to change our plans And rely on our Buddie fans They may not be as good But it changes the mood Cause this site has been shite Now's the chance to put it right A bit o' laughter and banter To gie us all a smiley chanter

  6. There is only one turning it into a bitchfest Drew. The rest are happy to support the team on Saturday without conditions and a need to abuse if things aren't going the way they want it to.

  8. I have mentioned this in the 'Pics' thread but thought I'd also mention it here for those that don't follow the 'Pics' thread (and why not?). The link below gives more info about the buildings you can visit over the weekend in question that are normally not available to you. There are a few new entries this year including our very own stadium! And its free. I had a few highlights last year including the Anchor Mills and Place of Paisley. You can always end your culture trip (like I do) in the Bull Inn! http://www.doorsopendays.org.uk/opendays/area_programmes.aspx?Page=2&areaid=32&resPP=10 Thanks to Slash for bringing the dates to my attention.
  9. What a great relief to read a positive thread on here for a change. Hope it lasts beyond Saturday ...
  10. Cheers for the info Slash. I knew it was Sept but I have been so busy recently I forgot to look up the dates. I visited quite a few places last year with the Anchor Mills being the highspot for me. Well worth checking out some great buildings when you can. Place of Paisley is also worth a visit being one of the oldest buildings in our fine town. And thanks for the praise of the thread. The contributions from everyone have made it an interesting journey. Edit to add: Here is the link to what is available to view in Paisley with a few new additions this year. Note that our Club has now joined in so get a visit around the stadium for free (this is for you Shull). http://www.doorsopendays.org.uk/opendays/area_programmes.aspx?Page=2&areaid=32&resPP=10
  11. In Jon Robertson we signed a 22 year old box-to-box midfielder who was his Club's Captain and had led them to promotion. He was nominated for 2nd Division Player of the Year in 2012. In my view a decent signing at the time. It didnt work out. No-one to blame. All signings are a gamble.
  12. The UN has the mandate to police the world not the f**kin US of A whose only interst is the US of A. Let the UN decide what happens.
  13. Hope you get the ceiling finished though Shull! Enjoy your new life John.
  14. PICTURE 131 attached. No clue this time as I think it is quite a tricky one. I walked past it for many years and only recently really 'discovered' it.
  15. PICTURE 130 attached. Tenement at 4 Glen St. C Listed. Built 1900. Architect WD McLennan. Had a friend who used to live there. Thousands of us passed close by it for many years

  17. People are responsible for their own emotions. Don't blame someone else about how you feel. We are all unhappy about the current situation but constant negative threads is tedious.
  18. This forum sucks at the moment ......
  19. We have 51% possession and they have had 5 shots to our 2 ....
