  1. He'd have been better than the imposters we have upfront. How anyone can watch the players we played up top today and criticize Mehmet I don't know! His effort, determination and ability to hold up would be an asset to the team. Still we know it won't happen.
  2. I don't think we can bank on Thommo getting in there and everything being OK after such a lengthy time out. We've needed more CB cover for years but the fans who are there week in week out could have told you that. Only the management didn't see it!
  3. Given the standard at present the Mehmet who left a few years back would waltz into our team.
  4. They will be going to the new arena Braehead are going to build at sometime. Got friends who follow it, but I just can't get into hockey.
  5. We do need to question what his levels will be like coming back from such a long time out. Hopefully he can get back up there, but at his age...
  6. The problem with Danny was the way things went, we should never have been in trouble after winning the cup and Lennon signed some diddies last year. If Naismith and Kelly hadn't stepped up... Ultimately we got the job done every year but we made it far too hard on ourselves. I still say Craig wasn't the right choice, but we are where we are and our board will never sack him.
  7. I remember when I went to Warriors games at first. 2,000 wasn't a bad crowd and Saints would outstrip the attendance easily apart from an Edinburgh game. Now most weeks Warriors have a bigger attendance. I even ditched the ICT game to go to the rugby. Never been so out of love with Saints.
  8. Of the stuff on the pitch was good the atmosphere would be there....
  9. It is not enjoyable to watch us this year. That game was awful, two terrible teams on that park playing poor football. The atmosphere is dire too, the loudest cheers being to boo the team off at full time or shout at Tommy. Attendances are defo down. It might not be by much but more and more regulars are staying away, yesterday there were free seats in my row and the row in front which are usually ST holders. Tommy was the wrong appointment in my view, but the board won't change. I have a real concern Ross County will buy again in January.
  10. You still get that- Sainsbury's in Braehead does. My previous employer had a recycling centre. You do get paid for cardboard, but it is not a huge sum. We used to have a skip to chuck it in, but that wasn't economic and they bought a machine to make it into bales of cardboard as that made it cheaper to transport and more valuable. Glass and metal were the other things we got recycled and we had a wood burner for energy.
  11. Paper bags by all accounts are worse for the environment than plastic. There is more energy involved in mass-producing, recycling and transporting paper compared to plastic bags. Paper bags also tear when wet, aren't as strong and rarely get used more than once. Plastic bags tend to get used a couple of times, even if it is just as bin liners.
  12. Young players are doing more than 30 hours a week? £65 a week at minimum wage for apprentices what 25 hours a week. For footballers 25 hours a week would seem correct!
  13. The A77 example might be difficult to apply to the A9, as the road goes through villages and is a worse standard. Do I think the cameras will work? I'm unsure, they may reduce the very small number of idiots but there is the possibility of increased frustration causing accidents. Equally they don't pick up bikers. I have issues with the way a lot of people quote 'accident rates' statistically too. Put simply people often have a habit of picking '3 years' but don't consider if these 3 years were normal. It's regression to the mean. Too often people just quote numbers without thinking. I think the money would be better spent closing right turn gaps on the duel carriageway sections and grade separating them.
  14. I can't say I understand it or follow it. We just don't know enough of the details. Jim Murphy's quote is interesting as he mentions he only saw it on Twitter!
  15. The referee was atrocious too. Total rabbit in headlights from him. Didn't realise he was the same guy Edinburgh complained about. Wasn't all that worried going into last 10minutes. Wasn't ideal and we were miles ahead even if they'd had 2 converted scores they still would have needed a penalty to draw! Matawalu shouldn't have been binned at all.
  16. It on occasion makes a stop at Helen Street Police Station to offload some characters...
  17. There is a Renfrew Northern Relief Road proposed from Kings Inch Road through to the A8 the other side of the swing bridge. I suspect you couldn't build 1 without the other.
  18. I think Naismith isn't playing well at the moment. Seems to get caught central too much
  19. I think he might be OK but he hasn't set the heather alight. He is a second striker but we so rarely play 4-4-2 he seems to be a right mid player. Certainly playing him up top on his own isn't a tactic- it would be like playing Dargo up top on his own.
  20. The idea that politics and sport shouldn't mix either is bogus. Sport is quite happy to mix with politics when it is on their terms, be it ground works, grants, youth initiatives. Basically what they don't wantis the fans engaging in politics whilst there- largely a problem consigned to the 2 Glasgow clubs. When there is something on the go money wise- politics are welcome.
  21. I think more than a few clubs will be worried then. Many grounds I've been to have them. Didn't Motherwell have a board for the Senior Citizens Party at one time? Given St Mirren have left SNP and other political adverts up during UEFA U21 games, but turned over booze and betting ones, I suspect the authorities aren't that bothered. It's a stretch to say they haven't noticed given that St Johnstone got done for a Palestinian flag- a yellow SNP hording at the corner flag is a bit more noticable. Given its paid for advertisements, I suspect that is fine...
  22. Connaught were sloppy. They could have done quite well, but they made too many mistakes. Their stand off did a lot well, but contributed to them losing about 3 tries with errors! I don't think Glasgow played well, and the lack of a TMO helped tonight- the officials had to give the benefit of the doubt- Hogg's second would have been ruled out with a TMO there.
  23. Wouldn't surprise me if YouGov had similar numbers for that grouping. Polling companies tend to have difficulties targeting younger voters.
  24. Statistically that is a bizarre chart. Wonder how they chose which age groups to split up- surely that isn't an equal proportions of the electorate. Why are 60-64 separated out? Did hear an account that what frightened the no campaign was also that their internal polling showed a Yes lead with a week to go.
  25. Salmond did a good job. Wasn't keen on the guy and sure he didn't win independence, but overall he worked hard for it and hasn't done a bad job in Scotland. His leaving speech was pretty good too.
