  1. Whoever the f**k that guy is, he's got a textbook case of Wee Man Syndrome. Also, bizarrely, jogs like a show pony.
  2. The volume was turned up to 11 during half time again yesterday. It's a pain in the hole trying to have a conversation through pointlessly blaring shite music. Saying that, you hear plenty of people saying they can't hear the tannoy at all.
  3. Boavista know how to jazz up a black and white stadium.
  4. So it's looking like Mandy may actually have been Peter Mandelson.
  5. One thing I never missed about the Love Street Main Stand when it was demolished was the proper painted sign over the turnstile that stated SEASON TICKETS AND COMPLIMENTERY'S. Not even complimentary's.
  6. Yes, a bit cryptic. I was going ask you to clarify your intent. You never know with some of the wallopers around here. The fact is, I f**king love Stelios and I'm sensitive when people pie him!
  7. context ˈkɒntɛkst/ noun the circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood.
  8. So,on Ayr's 2nd goal, the charges are: 1. Stelios dived. Absolute f**king nonsense, as anyone can see. 2. He should have hoofed it up the park instead of cutting inside. Someone even called that 'showboating'. Again, pause the video at the moment he should supposedly have have cleared it. The Ayr player is already right on top of him, and there's every chance the clearance is getting blocked. Hence why, being a skilled footballer, he cuts inside instead, only to be flattened. 3. He should have got up quicker, and by not doing so he distracted O'Brien (). That cross is coming in even if he gets up immediately, and he hasn't gone down voluntarily, he's been knocked down hard. McGinn is telling him to get up, and O'Brien is telling him he should have cleared it (Starks Park, Billy? ) Really, guys? It all seems incredibly harsh. Why? Is McGinn still reeling from Stelios labelling his voice as boring in that Sun article. You can nit pick anything. What's Mallan doing at their 1st goal? I'd prefer to focus on things like, which other full back at the club could have set up the key 3rd goal, etc.
  9. Webster was actually trolling the f**k out of El Alagui the whole time he was on the park. Aside from going in heavy on him, there was all sorts of stuff being said off the ball. All done with Webster's trademarked deadpan nonchalance. A great effort from Webster.
  10. That Gary MacKenzie booking is truly woeful. Time wasting at 5-0 up? Seriously? The guy is left walking a tightrope for the rest of the game, where one mistimed tackle could see him off and suspended. I noticed that he came back on to have it out with the ref at full-time. Not sure what the topic was, the booking or the challenge that dirty bastard put in on him just before he went off.
  11. If I remember right, his nickname amongst the players was Donnie Dargo due to his resemblance to Jake Gyllenhaal in the film Donnie Darko,
  12. I see Elton John's husband went to his stylist and asked for 'a Langfield'.
  13. One thing to clarify, I see some people asking why this thread is still getting responses. I'm not posting here because I want Jack Ross to go, or anything like it. This just happens to be where the discussion is.
  14. Absolutely, and I stated that as my first possible explanation. Our disadvantage is that we can only field 11 guys at a time. You can say that overall Gary Irvine might be a better right back, but I'd motion that Stelios is a far more formidable attacking threat than Gary Irvine, and you can even bring Eckersley into this too. Take yesterday, when there was still 21 minutes of playing time left after they went back in front. With us have shown not much in the way of an attacking threat in the 2nd half, if I'm playing full back for Dundee United I'd much rather see the status quo and have Stelios sit on the bench for the last 20 minutes than see him come down the wing towards me, asking questions that I've not had to answer yet. The option to stick or twist might rear its head again in the coming weeks where we'll have more games that are effectively cup finals too. I'm conscious that there was a season when Franco Miranda got better and more important to the side as each week of his long term injury went by, but what I saw Stelios do Hibs' club captain has really stuck in my mind, and we haven't played better as a team in years than that night, and Stelios was a big part of making that happen.
  15. This is the one I've been wondering about. Is it just a case that Gary Irvine has got the jersey and is playing well, so he keeps it until that changes, or is there any more to it? Jack Ross made that unusual comment about the intensity of Stelios' commitment annoying some people in training, which he was actually using to praise him, so I'm assuming it's not a personality clash or anything like that which has seen him out of the team. I'm wondering if Jack perhaps sees Irvine as being here next season, but Stelios not, for whatever reason. I don't know. Some, or all, of the above might be pish, I'm just trying to get to the bottom of why a guy who was a stand out player, and a genuine attacking threat is now out of the picture. It's that attacking option that's going to waste for me. Stelios has got a few moves in him, and hasn't wasted a cross since the moment he come on at East Fife. He's got the tricks to beat a man and open things up. He terrorised David Gray in that Hibs game. Gray couldn't get near him, either individually, or even more so when he linked up with Morgan. What I know is that in the coming games, if we look pretty, dominate possession, create a few chances, but don't win, that's going to be absolutely no use to us. We need to be using any edge we can get, and for me that includes finding a role for Stelios.
  16. Saturday was Mallan's 25th goal for Saints, including 8 free kicks in the past 2 seasons. That's a phenomenal strike rate from free kicks, and there won't be too many payers, at any level, who've done that. Only 2 of his 25 have been penalties.
  17. This match was supposed to have been played at Crappielow, but was switched due to 'unforeseen circumstances'. I wonder what the story was there, given that Crappielow hosted another game from the group yesterday. https://gmfc.net/2017/01/25/cappielow-to-host-scotland-under-17s-in-march/
  18. I reckon it was 9 points on 3rd December, when Dunfermline were 9th, but we had a game in hand, which we won at QoS 3 days later. The gap at the bottom had been 6-8 points from mid December until we won at Ayr. The most we've trailed the other teams by has been: Ayr - 12 points Dumbarton - 12 points Raith - 19 points
  19. I agree with this. Although much of Danny said was spot on, as is most of the content of this thread, there was more than a hint of rose tinted specs at times in his interview. A lot of talk about resistance to Austin McPhee and about Tommy Craig being a prick, but not much talk about the budget being woefully squandered on pay offs, etc, and also not much about getting beaten most weeks despite having a fantastic squad. As you say his talk about expectation was exaggerated. No one was expecting cup finals every year. A good guy who I would have been happy to see getting another year, but let's have some balance.
  20. We remember the infamous Lee Bullen comment about how St Mirren 'stole' Dunfermline's title in 99/00, even though we had been top of the league for 33 weeks out of 36 that season. This season we've been bottom for 21 weeks out of 25, so if we stay up it's fair to say that someone will have stolen our relegation.
