  1. "It's all about individual opinions", I was told. For such a long time I was "undecided". I listened... I asked... I considered. Things DO need to change... I am a passionate Scot and love my country. I am Scottish first and British second. Something struck me quite recently as the two sides of the debate seemed to give up debating in order to round on each other... YES is a campaign... a cause... something that some people have spent their whole adult lives campaigning for. A deep seated belief worth fighting for. I have no problem with that... I admire the passion. NO is not so much a campaign as a response... that for me explains the apparent apathy... the late rallying call. It is no less valid for that. Anyway... I digress. I asked questions of politicians I admire and respect... but was left with more questions as a result. If we are so anti-Trident, why retain membership of NATO which is committed to retaining a nuclear deterrent? NIMBY hypocrisy in my opinion. If we want full independence, why fight to retain the pound and demand a currency union where our intetest rates will be set by the central bank of another country? If we want to make our own choices, why try to break free from Westminster whilst by default, ceeding more power to Brussels? If our economy is to be centred around banking, the public sector and oil, isn't the volatility a high risk strategy best spread over a larger number of people? If so many people are unemployed in Scotland, why is the White paper committed to increased immigration for Scotland? If we are committed to retaining free education then why is nobody talking about the 130,000 college places that have lost funding to pay for Uni places? College places are just as important and will boost the working sector. With the White Paper projecting an initial annual deficit of 5.5 Billions, how are oil reserves going to be built up whilst we also increase spending on a number of key areas? As I said at the start... CHANGE is required... but change for changes sake is a dangerous thing. The needs in Scotland are very different from those of London... but the needs in Shetland are very different from those in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Increased devolution throughout the whole of the UK has always been my preferred option. That is still a possibility. I share this not to try and sway anyone's vote... and NOT to invite personal abuse or criticism. I share it simply to evidence that I HAVE actually spent time considering the options and thinking about the consequences of my vote. Regardless of my vote and regardless of the outcome, I vote with the best interests of Scotland at heart and remain a passionate Scot.
  2. Hibs have been in terminal decline for years. Big Yogi seems to be doing not too terribly at ICT after being trashed at Easter Road.
  3. What does he know... Signing duds like Harkins!!! ;-)
  4. I'm can't wait to see if it is Rangers or Hearts we face should we be able to secure 11th!!! Resigned to relegation already... thanks Mr Gilmour for setting the tone. What have we got? APATHY Why do we have it? WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!
  5. The home of I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue... and Just a Minute!
  6. I think you will find that it is more likely to be what nearly HALF the voters in the Nation want it to be!!! Certainly not what we, as a nation, want it to be!
  7. That, i WOULD flash... a maniac overtaking i might even stop to watch get their ticket!
  8. So were our votes not counted? Did we not get what we voted for in the vast majority of elections?
  9. Not checked this for factual accuracy... just read it and found it interesting. I know the referendum is far more than party politics... but one of the biggest factors for voting YES I continually read is so that we will get the government we vote for... with that in mind... how does this sit? I found this very interesting, it flies in the face of the myth that we do not get the Government we vote for...... Read on...... 1951 Scotland voted Tory we got a Tory Govt. 1955 Scotland voted Tory we got a Tory Govt. 1959 Scotland voted Tory we got a Tory Govt.... 1964 Scotland voted Labour, however England voted Tory, we got a Labour Govt. 1966 Scotland voted Labour we got a Labour Govt. Feb 1974 Scotland voted Labour, however England voted Tory, we got a Labour Govt. Oct 1974 Scotland voted Labour we got a Labour Govt. 1979, 1983, 1987 & 1992 we had a Tory Govt: Thanks to the motion of No Confidence in Jim Callaghan's Labour Govt the SNP tabled. When Thatcher realised that the SNP were siding with her she then tabled her own motion for No Confidence, which took precedence of the SNP's Motion. Supported by the 11 SNP MPs her Motion of No Confidence was carried by 1 vote. The SNP are responsible for starting the Thatcher Years. 1997 Scotland voted Labour we got a Labour Govt. 2001 Scotland voted Labour we got a Labour Govt. 2005 Scotland voted Labour we got a Labour Govt. 2010 Nobody got the Govt they voted for - only 7 months to go to the next election. In 1999, Labour delivered devolution and no one can argue that in 1997, 2003, 2007 and 2011 Scotland got it voted for.
  10. Region? Surely it's a step towards the inevitable United States of Europe?
  11. Slow down? The car in the wrong would have been doing about 3mph... The poor biker (and the sympathy is genuine) was doing 97mph!
  12. Is it not an SNP flagship policy and also one of the powers on the agenda for increased devolution?
  13. Not convinced he's any better in central defence than our current options!
  14. Because the Scottish Government is committed to flogging a dead horse and cant afford to lose face?
  15. I know that... you know that... but maybe it is an Armageddon spin?It was the only factor i could think of... unless he had a premonition that we would be so shite that paying fans would leave in their hoardes!!!!!
  16. He's probably including the TV cash I've said for a decade we shouldn't be basing our budgets on!
  17. How many people who bought their council house at a massive discount complained at the time? It was a scheme i was never in favour of, and although i don't blame anyone for taking advantage of it, it contributed massively to the financial problems of this country. It brought out the greed gene in every house seller.
  18. Just to add... yet again it is a Thursday. ALWAYS a Thursday. I really appreciate the effort that goes into organising this and don't see it as a right... but would it be that difficult to have it on a different night just once in a while for folks with commitments on a Thursday?
  19. Which is where your attacking full backs come into play to counter and give you width.
  20. Hes not "out on the right". Lets pretend it is subbuteo. .. You need to put all your players in a position to start... bug once the game commences... they are allowed to move! With two holding midfielders I would expect the three attacking mids to have the freedom of the pitch. I would actually be annoyed if they didn't regularly interchange to drag the defence out of position.
