  1. We didn't, he chose to leave to get first team football.
  2. We were 3-0 down and they were both on bookings, makes sense not to risk getting them sent off.
  3. Not heard that one before, did Lennon decide to play him in midfield or was he already playing there for Newcastle reserves?
  4. Good news that he is confident we will get Newton and Campbell, would like a right back as well but if we get those 2 i'll take it.
  5. Agree with you there, don't want an overpaid journeyman manager but I think a bit of experience is needed. Thompson would be good tactically I would imagine and very good at dealing with the players but it's a big step up from player to manager.
  6. That is a problem, from the highlights of the game our only chances from open play came from a high ball to Thommo and him bringing it down for Harkins/Mcgowan. With good attacking options in midfield that should not be how we get up the park and create chances.
  7. From the bbc - LATEST TRANSFER GOSSIP Newcastle Chronicle's Lee Ryder: Understand that Loic Remy is travelling to Tyneside now for a medical. Remy deal will be a season long loan if #nufc and the player can agree terms. Another forward at Newcastle can only be good news for us.
  8. I think it's more likely that Thommo would be come the assistant or even player/assistant and someone more experienced would take the main job. However much they want to save money surely putting 2 people with absolutely zero managerial experience in charge isn't the answer.
  9. I don't think he should be sacked as he has a good long term plan in place and has brought in some great players who on their day can play some brilliant football and achieve some brilliant things. But as Pozbaird said if things dont fall into place this season then he leaves the board with very little choice. Question is who would replace him, nobody springs to mind.
  10. I worked in retail for 5 years while a student and was on a 5 hour contract however there were others who were on 0 hour contracts. The downsides are obvious but there was good points too. I would work at least 16 hours a week but it meant if I need time off for exams I could just choose to only work my contract hours (or 0 hours for others). It also allowed me to work more than one job in the summer so it can be good as long the people aren't being exploited, it was a relatively small store I worked in so I was able to arrange things with my manager.
  11. Just checked teamers and the invites have been sent, theres 12 people accepted 4 not responded and 1 declined.
  12. Wasn’t at the game but I just watched the highlights and our defence looks very worrying. I think we’ll be ok for goals as we will get a striker in before the end of the transfer window and we have plenty of creative players in midfield. But every goal came from poor positioning, poor tackling, lack of pace and lack of organisation on Saturday (even the penalty although it was obviously very soft). The second goal is inexcusable, giving the ball away from centre 2 or 3 players failing to make a tackle, a bad back-pass and the keeper shitting it from the incoming striker. As I said I wasn’t there and only seen the team sheet on Saturday, did we line up with Reilly up front and McGinn on the left? Is Barron fit? Hopefully DVZ being suspended gives him a chance to prove himself I always thought he was more solid defensively than DVZ (apart from a couple of bad games). Very worrying, Goodwin needs to get that defence organised if he is playing in there and a right back is needed.
  13. If only nutmegs counted as goals! I'll need to dig out my shooting boots for next week.

  15. Im saying if you went round and asked everyone if they wanted to watch the game or listen to someone shout about Palestine then it would pretty unanimous. If it was only being 'spoken about' then that would be fine but it was shouted at a player.. twice.
  16. You asked who decides wether a football ground is a suitable place for a polical demonstration and I answered that everyone else in the ground decided that when they bought a ticket for a football game not a political debate/rally.
  17. The other 3000 people in the stadium who paid to see a football match....
  18. Not read any of this thread until now so forgive me if this has been covered.. but why did you choose raise political issues at a football game and what does any of it have to do with Kayal, just because he is from Israel?
  19. That must be why they started charging today they knew they had a big story coming!
  20. Anyone know if there is an SPL fantasy football available somewhere?
  21. Newton basically has the choice between getting experience at championship level but potentially sitting on the bench most of the season, or playing every week for a full season/6 months here where he is comfortable well liked and knows the rest of the squad well. ETA: Does the championship start this weekend as well? If so then surely a decision has to be made today.
  22. Hit post while typing by accident.. Mcginn is pretty wee I think we'd get away with it!
  23. Cornell DVZ McAusland Mcgregor Grainger Goodwin Teale Mcgowan Mcginn Harkins Thompson For me this is the best formation and lineup with the squad available, Goodwin playing across the park in front of the defence and plugging the gap between midfield and defence and harkins playing infront of the midfield and supporting thommo. ETA: Shapes a bit off there but you get the idea, ideally we would go 3 at the back with Teale and Grainger as wing backs but don't think they are cut out for that type of role.
  24. The worst team ever? I'm 22 and have been watching saints most of my life so wasn't born when we had proper good teams, but if anything this is one of best teams we have had in my lifetime. 5-10 years ago players like Mcgowan, Thompson, Teale and Harkins were far beyond our reach and now we have them as well as bringing in guys like Dummet and Newton who have a good chance of playing regularly in the EPL and Isma who scored in the champions league last night. We are developing our own youngsters who are regularly playing for Scotland U19s and U21s like Mcginn Mclean and Reilly and there is also the small fact that we just won our first major trophy in 26 years.
