If we don't sign any other players and we allow Grainger to go, how many will be on the bench if previous games we didn't have the full quota? Think the club to make money would sell the seats to supporters?

Thinking out loud here, but is his contract coming to an end this season? Wonder if we may get first dibs on him as will get first team footy with us.

I wasnt sure where best to post this, but are fans worrying and complaining so early on due to the fact last season, apart from the cup run and win was very hit and miss. With this being a new season and manager and players being able to sort this out, but with the preseason and one league game, fans are seeing the same. no real improvement. no lessons learned as yet. This is why they are worried or frustrated? Last season we got business done pretty early on, did we not? Is this not the way DL said he liked to do things as players get preseason to get to grips with each other etc. is it maybe that even due to cancelling a few contracts or trying to, that we have had to wait to free up some wages? We might had a long list of players DL wanted in this season. Maybe they have all turned us down. We don't have access to this to see what quality he really wants in etc. maybe players don't want to come to a club where contracts of several players have had the contracts cancelled? We don't really know. I'm not in the know. I'm glad DL is in papers saying he is still looking as knows we are in need of extra quality. I'm just thinking out loud. Also, with the people that have been mentioned, Nish, Beattie, Boulding, are they really going to be on less than Parkin was? Would it be more? Would they want to come and be thommo's back up? Was Parkin offered and other contract, but wanted first team football?! Ill wait and see at the end of the window before I judge.

Just wondering, does they guy that has contacts at Rio Ave still work at the club? If so, can he not get us some decent loan players in as well?

With the budget we have I doubt we'd sign him too, but I would love us to have two left backs fighting for the position as I'm sick of every year we ALWAYS are looking for a left back. We need to tie one down to a 20year contract. I would also like us to ship David Barron out. I think VZ needs decent competition for the right back spot too. As much as we, in my eyes, have quality in the centre back position, I feel we have enough cover there with what we have and with the youth too. It's the full backs we don't have many for and feel we need competition to get the likes of VZ to up his game. I would like a decent partner for Thommo or someone decent who can lead the line on their own too. Not asking for much am I?!

Here is hoping it comes true than. Not been totally happy with Parkin and guy. Parkin is ok squad player, but guys recent form reminds me of kean and has a first touch that is the same! I don't think either have really taken the pressure of Thompson. If cant get dummett back on loan or can't sign perminantly in the summer or something then I would also like a left back on a 20 year deal as it gets annoying always having to look for a left back every season!

Well I hope if players come in they are decent. I'd like centre backs that can defend as well as someone with a bit of dig in the midfield rather than some of the ghosts we have. Wouldn't mind some wingers that will take a man on and maybe cross a ball, but that's my wish list. It Will never happen though.

Sadly it will prob be that way, but I can live and hope that the management team and BOD can see we harve real areas of weakness. If they want to progress more than they did last season a Left Back, Solid Mid and maybe a back up keeper if Adam is injured badly are defo what we need.

Hope we do get a couple players in that can strengthen areas we need. I think Left Back and a solid defensive midfielder are key in my opinion. when goodwin is out we dont have anyone with dig (and Div is not the answer) also Div is not the answer at left back either.

Here is hoping they are good and get signed up to a real long deal so we can finally spend a summer where Left Back is not an issue!

I thought this still included the keeper, but maybe not. either way Reilly will be on the bench as a u21 and I'm sure McLean still is u21. I thought if got a keeper that fitted the bill this would let us maximise the bench, but may have to go with more younger players as I'm sure on another thread someone said it looks like we have a snr squad of like 15 players so younger players will have to fill the bench.

Don't know if he is right for the team, but with a squad as small as ours we defo need a keeper that fits the under 21 rule too, so we can maximize our bench with as many players as possible without being restricted due to the under21 rule. If they are good enough then fine, but a u21 keeper let's us have more movement with it as mclean still fits the u21 rule aas well as reilly.

Elsewhere people saying would think we would be fine with getting in a left back and sub keeper. I think in an ideal world I would like a sub Keeper, left back, a holding midfielder and striker. Noticed on skys transfer centre that lee cox who used to be with ICT is being chucked by Swindon. I would take him in the hlding mid role. Always thought he was good. We won't see anything happen though until things are sorted.
