  1. New Scottish transfer system launched - but how does it work? - BBC Sport With clubs now able to enter into cooperation agreements with clubs outside there respective leagues I was wondering. I agree it's a solid idea to allow young players on the cusp of the first team to play against so called seasoned professions but, am I missing something? The club who loans out the young players in question keep the registration but what happens in cup competitions? Are those players barred against their parent club and, if so, does it mean a club can recall a player from a team they are playing and play the young player in question? ETA. What about if the youngster plays in a previous round against other opposition? Firstly. Can he? Secondly. If he can, does this mean he can't play for either side if the two clubs meet.
  2. So the rangers have their new man. New Rangers head coach Russell Martin says his "whole career has been based on proving people wrong" and believes he can do so again at Ibrox. And... 'I've not been first choice at any club' Barry F mark 2? Must fill the orks with a whole lot of confidence and optimism!
  3. Hopefully the deal is close enough for it not to matter.
  4. Rangers to change name of owning company after American takeover as US consortium plan MAJOR behind the scenes shift | The Sun You can try to polish a piece of sh!t but it will still be a piece of sh!t. SEVCO 2012
  5. You would think it would be almost short of impossible to have similar issues to last season. I suppose, as far as centre back is concerned, IF we can keep him fit, Iacovitti could be used in Taylor's stead. Although not ideal. Right wing back is a must. As is a pacey forward. We will need the others but the two I mentioned are IMO, the most urgent.
  6. I was hoping Laugh-erty missed his for comedy value but, hey ho. JB win the shoot out.
  7. Congratulations again for Gleniffer Thistle. Won the Divisional Cup today beating their rivals Knightswood to the trophy. That's twice they've pipped them. One question I asked. If they do it again do they get to keep them?
  8. Given the number of times the new bridge has been unavailable I think this will cause a few people who don't have transport a problem.
  9. You'd need a mortgage to get his complete name on the shirt, not to mention a shirt the size of a house though. Aribusitamunoipirim Emmanuel Pepple
  10. Now. No cheating. Those of us of a certain age remember the labour party theme, "Things can only get better", but can you tell me, without t'internet help, who sang a song with the same name eight years prior?
  11. I understand why Stephen felt the need for a step up. It will be great experience assisting in the top league. He has a little history with Falkirk so will be "at home" and it sill definitely help his development. I hope he succeeds in helping them to a reasonable place below us and perhaps he'll come back in the future.
  12. I can't see why it's taking so long. I hope you get your wish, re Arbroath, as my grandson hasn't been there yet.
  13. So the labour party has drawn the batle lines saying it's now a straight choice between Kidstarver or the fascistfarage. Talk about worser and worsest(sic). Luckily Scotland has another choice.
  14. While I don't want Martindale anywhere near our club it would be totally wrong for a so called "family club" to refuse to take someone on who has served their time and has, on the face of it, been rehabilitated. In fact. It would be the very opposite of the essence of a family club to take his spent conviction as a reason for not employing him.
  15. With the by election looming it should be noted that the Labour leader is untrustworthy and Reform are nothing but racists who want to betray ALL working people. What a local lad once said still holds true but it could be directed at three Tory parties. Keir Hardie. There are two sorts of working class Tory. " There is the smug, selfish man who finds himself fairly comfortable and desires to make his position secure. To him the defenders of property can always appeal, certain of a willing response. The poor dolt, blinded by selfishness, will not see that the ever lengthening chair of poverty to which he is attached by the mere fact of belonging to the working classes will one day drag him over into the abyss. Then there is the ignorant, besotted set who vote Tory because of a strange vein of contrariness which runs through human nature. They have no excessive property to conserve, no empire to defend, but neither have they any of the grit of true manhood, and they find a serf's pleasure in being on the same side as their masters. To me the only secure way of protecting Scotland's future is to VOTE SNP.
  16. Could have been worse. We should manage through this. Glad Albion Rovers didn't win the Lowland league or we may have been up against the A Teams.
  17. Sorry but I just can't get excited about Shinnie getting anywhere near a medal. A red card? Yes. A medal> No.
  18. No matter the sport. The coach needs to, 1)Get his charges to want to run through a brick wall for them and 2) Get them to understand what he wants them to do collectively. Martindale does this. Tactical genius? I don't think so and I doubt any big club would want him. No matter what his background was. I will say. He obviously can find the players who fit in with his "football" philosophy. I wouldn't want him any nearer St. Mirren's home dugout than the other side of the tunnel though.
  19. Well said for the most part but, as far as the second "blight " is concerned, it's not something that's making a come back. It's something that's never really went away. We celebrated in much the same way a couple of seasons ago when we won the penalty shoot out v DU. Exuberance is part and parcel of watching the less successful sides and it's the lows that make the highs so much more enjoyable. I know the game wasn't technically over but, let's be honest, It REALLY was. Watching your local club is almost like a drug. You know you'll suffer but, at the time, you think you need it so, when the drug actually does works, it can overawe you. Not saying it's right but I can see where adults can regress to youthful actions. I believe most will feel silly and probably suffer physically later.
  20. I watched the game last night and, while I agree, there is no doubt the team that won deserved to, it was a very poor game with two teams who looked far below Premier league level. I predict, (and I hope I'm right), if they don't strengthen, they won't need to worry about changing to grass for 26/27. Still means we'll need to suffer three plastic pitches for now. At least, if they mean it, Livi's pitch will be slightly better next term.
  21. Not what I hoped for but Staggies got what they deserved.
  22. I think all three finishes were good but the defending was awful for them.
  23. 1-0 RC!!!!!!!!
  24. Come on The Staggies. IFO don't want a third plastic pitch
