  1. Twitter is merely a forum, just as this is. Difference is that it has hundreds of millions of members. Should we "kick this forum into the sea" as well?
  2. He wasn't my preferred choice - I had a long argument against appointing him with someone on Twitter a few days before he got the job, but once he was appointed, he became our manager. For our club to do well, he had to do well. He has to be given a fair crack of the whip, and he hasn't remotely been given that. You onlu have to look at certain posters' signature on here to see that the knives have been out for him since his first interview after being appointed. Deals have taken longer to get done than expected - is that Stubbs' fault? Eckersley and Mackenzie are injury prone and are both injured, yet Stubbs has got it in the neck constantly from people on the forum, on social media and the like, lambasting him for being too stubborn to play them. Will any of these clowns apoligise for their ill-conceived rants? Not a chance, mud sticks, and now the illusion is that he has torn the championship winning team apart when he's done nothing of the sort. He told Mack and Eck they could find a new club because they're injury prone and he couldn't guarantee them a regular game. Reilly took an age to sign a contract so Stubbs took back control and removed it from the table. A win on Saturday would help give back some positivity, but it seems to me it will take a lot for some of our fans to go back on their initial assessment of Stubbs.
  3. I'm still shocked that Stubbs wouldn't play Eck while injured to strengthen the defence, or throw a struggling Mackenzie straight in for his experience. After all, Mackenzie on one leg is better than Baird, Kpekawa et al... Some people on here really do talk endless amounts of shite, all in the name of undermining the manager because they didn't get Guti or Kluivert in to lead us...
  4. Ah, the deadline. Is this you making it up as you go along or do you have a hotline to Reilly? Reilly had ample time to sign his second, improved contract offer. Nobody chased him away - he loitered without intent for far too long and we had to move on. Here's an idea, why not get behind the team and the manager, rather than trying to undermine every move Stubbs makes?
  5. By "chased Gavin Reilly away" you mean "couldn't force him to sign the contract he'd been sitting on for a month"? Here's an idea - why not give the manager you backing instead of finding fault with every single thing he does or doesn't do? It'll be a stretch, but give it a try. Pretend you want him to do well.
  6. What was he supposed to say when asked the question? He said he didn't know, and would have to see what happens.
  7. Speaking from experience Ricky? Sounds messy...
  8. Our squad from last season would have struggled badly to finish anything but bottom. The previous manager knew this only too well, and had planned for big changes. Obviously a new manager has come in and has his own ideas - that's what happens. The players we have signed will and have taken varying times to settle and gel with their team mates. We'll have a better idea of the quality of the squad around October time imo.
  9. It's about the feeling of being there, feeling at home in the surroundings, loving the rammed together nature of the ground, not the good and bad memories. You're confusing that with the week to week emotions and stresses of following a football team, which is the same now as it was at Love Street. The surroundings still don't compare for me, the new place doesn't have the character, but for younger fans you are right that it won't be the same. The new place has improved in its look in recent years, being personalised with paint and banners and being made into a home, but the old place will always hold a much dearer place in the heart of the vast majority who made the pilgrimage every second Saturday to experience the place.
  10. I'd go back to Love Street in a heartbeat. Still remember the last look back as I turned the corner from the Northbank to go down the slope with my daughter, who was 8 at the time. She didn't want to leave, and neither did I. That's not nostalgia, that's the reality of people's feelings at the time, and for me - despite warming to the new place - they haven't changed.
  11. Last season Miller played only the equivalent of 16 games for Rangers in all competitions, with 5 goals and 5 assists. That ratio, extrapolated over a 38 game league season would lead to 23 goal involvements, be it goals or assists. Given he's probably unlikely to play every minute of every game, it would still equate to probably 15 goal involvements. I don't think he's as past it as some are saying. Would certainly contribute if given the opportunity, over the course of a season.
  12. Stewart is still a possibility I think. The Hodson signing could allow us to move Coulson forward to play wide left. If Mackenzie can get over his injury issues he could provide the experience. Certainly can't see him leaving unless we pay him off due to his injury record, so Stubbs may have to stick with him.
  13. Oh, and welcome aboard, Lee. Hope you have a great season at Saints.
  14. The Alan Stubbs Positivity Police are a requirement now that we have the Alan Stubbs Needlessly Negative Nobheads in operation...
  15. Why is it the type of thing Stubbs would do? Has he done that before or are you just being negative for no particular reason other than that you don't like the manager?
  16. Would be happy if Miller signs, just as I would have been before he went to Livi. Experienced striker who is an example to the younger players of how to take care of yourself and prolong your career. Intelligent, still fit as a fiddle and with a point to prove. A no brainer imo.
  17. That may be true, but the sun is toilet paper.
  18. Loan signings are just routine for Scottish clubs now, with less money in the game. Why would we limit ourselves by not signing players on loan who are better than what we have. As has been noted before, the biggest clubs in this country have utilised the loan market to their advantage. Just because they are operating at a different level doesn't make the principle the same. IT's been covered well by many of the replies on here but I would struggle to find one negative to it that you wouldn't encounter with a 1 year permanent signing. Hopefully another loan to come in before the window closes as well...
  19. FTFY certainly does mean other things, as evident in the first page. FIFY not so much, but then I'm sure you know this having Googled PROPERLY when making your premature first haughty reply on the subject...
  20. Can't be true - we all know Cooke is shocking. That hour he had over three preseason games was all we needed to see...
  21. Almost like he needed time to get fit, sharp and get used to his new team mates and environment? Incredible if true...
  22. 1.4 million search results for FIFY, as opposed to 1.37 million for FTFY. I'd take that as more people using the acronym FIFY, but I'm sure I'll be told I'm wrong in that assumption...
