  1. Loved the Hearts 6-2 match. Had beaten them 5-2 in the final match of the previous season and they were all out for revenge. 'We'll not be losing 5-2 again' their manager was saying. He was right! They didn't.
  2. The main difference between JR and AS is that Jack had to work with what he had Stubbs is able to bring in his own players from the start. He has brought some in but when the chips were down last night and we offered nothing up front, he chose to leave his own two attacking signings on the bench!
  3. Never been to Hampden for a Queens Park game before only international's and semis/finals. Assume we can use the car park for this one?

Two stunning strikes from Mallan. Well worth a watch. At least you can see them. Was a lot of mist during the game and could see much of a couple of the goals.
  5. All sorted now. No North/south divide. Instead no-ones talking to anyone else!
  6. Not in recent years. Back to the 20s. But we survived and a century later we are still here. This was basically pre season thanks to the changes in the competition. Not time to panic.
  7. Many many worse! Off the top of my head Hammarby, cup final 2010, many defeats to lower league teams on the 80s. Going further back we have lost to non league teams before. All these games were later in the season when the team was "a team" Last night shows that we are not gelled yet and there is still some work to do. The league season is still a couple of weeks away. That is when I will judge.
  8. Can see Rogers, Heaton, Kellerman, King and Cooke getting a start in this one. Rest of the team depends on anymore dealings before then.
  9. Not sure about that Mbappe. Not proven at the top flight of Scottish football or English non league!
  10. Now you're just naming academy graduates beginning with M!!
  11. I posted at the time that I met him in the club shop before that game and he was buying a top and some other stuff. I made a joke about times being hard and him having to buy his own strip. His reply was that he was just giving back to the club for all they had done for him. As you say. A well grounded young man who In years to come I will be proud to say got his break at St Mirren and it was a pleasure to watch him play. His career will depend on his dreams. If he dreams big he will achieve big. I will watch with interest.
  12. Captain Walter Hay and keeper Jimmy McCloy 1934
  13. Typical Morgan goal. Takes it from own half into box cut inside and slip it past keeper. Much as he is playing for them I will watch his career as I genuinely think he will go much further than the scottish leagues.
  14. No. Will be one for Sunderland though. And the league cup games.
  15. Yes. U21 international v Denmark in 1998
  16. Yeah Kerr was around the fringes of the 1st team at that time and was touted as being capable of making it but disappeared. I wasn't aware that he had to quit. Hillcoat of course returned a few years later.
  17. A young John Hillcoat and ?Eddie Kerr.
  18. A young John Hillcoat and ?Eddie Kerr.
  19. The other one is possibly for beating Nottingham Forest in the Anglo-Scottish Cup Winners challenge. Don't know if there was a trophy for that or not. But win it around the same time.
  20. As a player I think he spent too much time believing he was destined to be something in the modelling world. Didn't really put full effort into his football. But fair play to him. He had found his calling. Shows how slow and backward the Scottish authorities are that they didn't recognise the potential and keep him in his homeland.
  21. Jamal Crawford. 20 year old. Looks a good direct type of players. Win the free kicks for king to score!
  22. BIlly Thomson went through a period of wearing a Norway top! Think he had swapped it in an U21 match. http://www.stmirren.info/id328.html
