  1. He was on sportsound either last week or the week before saying how much he loves it over there, didn't seem in a rush to leave it. Who knows maybe the weather in Scotland just now will sway him . Would any sane person swap Australia for the Saints job? The fans still hold a grudge against him, if he gets off to a bad start the fans would be on his case within a couple of months and we'd be back at square one.
  2. Billy Davies doesn't have much reputation left in England, does he? Not at Championship level anyway. Dickov hasn't done anything of note to tarnish his reputation up here anyway. I wondered what Ian Ferguson was up to but he has a cracking job developing youth players in Australia, would have to be a complete idiot to want to move back here and take on a very tough job. Ian McCall has done well at Ayr, hes maybe worth looking at. I think Jimmy Calderwood would at least bring some attacking play and entertaining football, he's also saved a couple of teams from relegation. He'll know by now most teams in Scotland have changed their ways regarding £££, I think he'd jump at the chance of managing us. Billy Reid could be another contender, wouldn't be the nicest football but I think it would be effective. Whoever it is has to get the fans and players onside from the start. Ian Murray didn't attempt to build any sort of relationship.
  3. Abuse 1 guy and give the wasters a nice wee clap as they trudge down the tunnel. Classy. The players better hope they beat Alloa next week.....
  4. Exactly it could be his first and only full time gig. He isn't wanting this to happen week in week out. Time to part ways. Who's next in the firing line? Thommo for manager?
  5. I know I said I wouldnt back us against East Stirling just now but I have went against that . Backed Saints to win today, some of the prices are way too big to ignore. Mallan to score 2 is 50/1 btw
  6. We should have the right to believe we can beat them but I wouldn't back us against East Stirling just now. Dumbarton will likely have a defensive partnership of Darren Barr and Frazer Wright, they will be tough to crack. Rangers struggled to break them down at Ibrox the other week, this games not a gimmy. I think there is a huge difference between part time teams now and even 10 years ago when we were last in this division. Sports scientists, new fitness regimes ect mean the gap in fitness between full time teams and part time teams has shortened by some distance. Them having a game midweek and us having a 2 week break should take its toll but nothing is guaranteed.
  7. Will be even sadder if we lose. It feels like we have travelled back 2 decades to the mid 90's when the club was on its knees relying on a shed load of young players. We don't have a devine right to come down here and pump any team. Think a few of our players (and some fans) have a bit of a culture shock. Every team in this division (apart from us) have been really well drilled and organised. It was going to take time for the manager to adjust to full time, I believe he underestimated the size of the task here, the players have underestimated the opposition pretty much every week, apart from Rangers where we gave them 2 decent games. I haven't been blown away by the quality in the division but you need to roll up the sleeves and earn 3 points week in week out.
  8. Reading headlines isn't really his strong point . http://www.pieandbovril.com/forum/index.php/topic/64423-st-mirren-sign-deuchar/ It's amazing though, how comes unionists are happy enough to slate Sturgeon and the SNP(bad) whenever they talk about Independence and how they are going against the will of the Scottish people, but 1 guy gives his opinion and Stu uses it as evidence that the Independence model is dead. This isn't about Sturgeon, SNP MP's, Salmond or his mates, this is an issue that will not go away until independence happens. I am not a SNP member or fan boy, I will vote for them until I can find another pro independence party worth voting for, even if my local MP or MSP ran over my dog I'd still be voting for them until we have independence ( or if another pro indy party come along ) If the SNP MP's turn into crooks, stealing tax payers money ect then it will just prove even more why Westminster doesn't work for us. Politicians are politicians at the end of the day no matter what badge they wear, but only 1 party is worthy of my vote just now. That might make me a natsi or a cybernat, that doesn't bother me, it just lets me know the establishment are rattled. Especially the old racist Tory round the corner from me who keeps trying to sway my vote every time I meet him .
  9. Maybe he has made a good bit of cash, he was playing for the same team in Turkey that paid Micheal Stewart 10k a week. Maybe he wants to do with Thommo did, we are in deep crap, maybe he wants to help us out. It did feel like he left with unfinished business. The club can't do any worse than asking him in to train for a few weeks, if he looks up to it offer him a deal till the end of the season with the option for another year? Can see a few bottom 6 clubs in the Premiership being interested though. I genuinely think he would lift his team mates and the support.
  10. This has got to happen. The fans should raise the funds ourselves if there is no budget left. The guy is a hero and would give us a much needed lift.
  11. Who knows really, maybe if he was offered it he'd find it too hard to turn down. Ideally it would be best if he was in charge of someone like Clyde and got a few years experience under his belt. Will Teale get another manager gig? Gut feeling is Miller wouldn't be the answer as manager but then again I thought Murray was the best man for the job in the summer.
  12. Would Thommo want the extra hassle? Gets enough stick as a player now, would he want to potentially ruin his god like reputation with us if we ended up being relegated with him as the manager? Suppose he wouldn't have done his badges if he didn't fancy getting into coaching/management at some point and it would be seen as a good opportunity by quite a few unemployed managers just now.
  13. Stuart McCall couldn't manage us because we can't afford to lose 750k a season! I'd probably take Jimmy Calderwood, he realises most teams don't have the £££ to spend now but at least we'd play attacking football.
  14. Yeah Celtic can afford to have a few duds in their squad, clubs like Saints can't. Which is why we were relegated and are in trouble this season. Paying off these duds cost Danny and the club. He worked wonders with the younger players though.
  15. In saying that I'd still love to see him back as our manager . He genuinely fell in love with the club, I always had a niggly feeling some players in the dressing room were shafting him.
  16. I loved Danny to bits but when you look at his record it wasn't great. Our form in the league from January-December 2013 was rotten, he earned extra time to turn it around because of the cup win but he was really lucky to keep his job when we went the first 7-8 games without winning a match in the 2013/14 season. Harkins,Grainger,Caprice,Cornell,Bahoken all awful signings that summer. There was one point in in the cup winning season where we had only won league games in Paisley and Dundee until we beat Killie away in April iirc. County pumped us at home before we beat Celtic in the semi.
  17. I thought the club went with the right man in the summer. There was always a risk it wasn't going to work out. Who knows he might still turn it around but he doesn't have long. I think the players have to take some responsibility for the position we are in too, how many have shown they are way too good for this level? Goodwin? Mallan at a push ? It's hard to have a go because guys like Baird,McMullan,Shankland,Morgan and Gallagher are still learning the game . It's like we have went back in time to the mid 90's relying on boys to dig us out a hole. Going ahead in matches and sitting in deep has happened too many times. Is this a tactic or are the players not following instructions? It's happened way too many times for it to be a coincidence.
  18. Heard Ian Ferguson on the radio last night. Would the fans accept him?
  19. I seen a few people saying he should be given a long term deal. He signed one last season till 2018. I don't think we'll see him stay on if we are still a championship team by then. Even at that with the form he is in we may sell him . If Falkirk can get hundreds of thousands for guys that haven't even played a game, how much should we be asking for Mallan?
  20. Ach they were scoring goals for fun, having a good season just now. Our away support doubles/halves if we are on a good run, especially title winning seasons. Quite a surprising result today, and no 2nd half collapse. Well done players and management. Lets hope we can build on this result and performance.
  21. I hope we can get McMullan/Gallagher/Morgan one on one with him. Force him into errors. No doubt he'll play a blinder on Saturday. We need to hope he has a wee mistake in him , don't know what style the Pars play. A year ago I'd have fancied Thommo to bully him, dunno about that now.
  22. The Shell in Erskine was meant to be shut for 6 weeks. Don't know if that has opened up yet. That one was a nightmare. The last 4 times I went in the pumps weren't working, before it closed.
  23. http://youtu.be/dIQWdo0XhJE Brilliant . McGarrys against Raith after his header went in was amazing too. Running straight to the packed NB.
  24. Wee Danny turning round and looking at 18,000 of us going mental after the 3rd goal
  25. Forgive me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure Hibs struggled for the first few games when they came down last season. They had a new manager and new players. They are a bigger club with better resources than us . It's all about fine margins in this league. Narrow 1 goal defeats and victories. Look at Falkirk on Friday they were 2 up early on, strolling it and in the end Dumbarton were robbed of a point. The worrying thing is we aren't seeing any sort of plan in place but we have to trust the manager and players to turn it around. We still have the losing mentality from last season, we need to shake it. Fans and players.
