  1. We played a little better today than we've done in the last few home matches. We managed a few efforts on target and had some decent moves, too. The damage has been done in the other home fixtures and the summer transfer window, not scoring against Utd, Accies, Partick, Caley, Dundee, and the Fakes has exhausted my patience. The boys in the West Stand were right, Craig Must Go!
  2. Baird looks a good prospect, in the circumstances he did very well today
  3. My prediction, in the post match interview Tommy uses the Tuesday night fixture as an explanation of the result.
  4. There's a few of them in London, Kings Crustacean, St Pancrustacean, New Crustacean
  5. Possibly the club could do a nice line in 'Craig Must Go' t-shirts, they'll make very popular xmas gifts.
  6. Time to pick up a little debt and pay the compensation to remove TC and find the money to bring Ian Murray to Saints. Murray has shown talent, has previously made positive impact on joining Dumbarton when they couldn't buy a result. Also if the damage is so great that we do get relegated, I think Murray will lead us out of 1st division (or whatever its called these days). Don't give TC the transfer window, there's no evidence to believe he'll succeed in it.
  7. I agree, if folk have gone too far and abused TC he has a right react. However, the interview goes to fans, those at the game, those that did or didn't abuse him, those that work on matchdays, those who had family commitments on matchdays etc etc TC has to speak for himself and the players, presenting this aggressive air does neither him or the club any credit.
  8. Saints played pretty well in the first half, we had a couple of decent efforts and while Caley had possession we rarely looked troubled. Naismith was a real handful and made a lot of good surging runs. Second half Caley dominated possession and wasted a few decent chances. A similar pattern to the match a few weeks ago against County, we got pressed further and further back. I really can't recall Saints being anywhere near the Caley goal in the second half. Draper should've been off, his tackle on Osborne was his 3rd foul since his booking. I was pretty impressed with Ridgers except for the goal although possibly he was fouled, I didn't have a great view of it. If Goodwin is back and in midfield we might be able to break Caley's passing movements down, other than that I'd doubt Saints will win the replay.
  9. He did indeed say words to that effect. He said in another remark that Graham Carey is a good player who'll never reach his full potential. So put those 2 things together: 1. Thommo, who is not a manager, can bring the best out in players struggling to make the impact at our level; 2. TC, who is a manager (or has been in management), is not able to bring out the best in a player sufficiently talented to play at our level. Craig must go.
  10. Last night, TC was asked why Gowser was released by the club. In effect SG answered the question on TC's behalf with 'watch this space' Its difficult to believe Gowser will find the law taking a lenient view of an offence, again. In my opinion he should be pushing towards the Scotland squad, regrettably the reality is he's a dafty who's career is at risk from his own stupidity.
  11. My observations from last night. TC described not buying either a centre half or a proven goal scorer as a mistake, he had expected a fit Thommo to be able to successfully mentor at least 1 of the 3 forwards he bought. TC also said (I'm quoting) we made ' a multitude of chances' in the fixtures in the first 3 months of the season; its only the last 3/4 fixtures in which we haven't played well. When TC was pressed, very politely, by one of the audience about his failure to buy a centre half, he asked for a minute 'to gather his thoughts' after a long pause he then said he had signed Plummer and that Goodwin or Tess can cover. In short TC didn't say anything that couldn't be easily argued against. It gives me no pleasure to say, based on the evidence of the AGM, that TC is both humourless and charmless in equal measure. I struggle to find any reason to believe he is a good man manager/figurehead/leader of men. It was clear the BOD will at least give TC some time to work with players returning from injury.
  12. The AGM is usually spilt in 3 parts: Formalities that accept the audited accounts and propose and second the members of the board Q&A on club business, typically managed by the Chairman Lastly, Q&A with the manager Following last Saturday's interview, I'm weighing up walking out when it gets to the Q&A with the manager. If he's got nothing to say to the St Mirren fans, then we've got nothing to say to him.
  13. I had the pleasure of working with Jim for a few months, nearly 20 years ago. He was an absolute gent and very modest about his career. RIP
  14. At 15.54 http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xvm39y_blackadder-season-03-episode-05-amy-and-amiability_shortfilms
  15. The skill I have is I can drive a van. For arguments sake this van could be filled with a (recently) dismissed employee's belongings and taken back to their home.
  16. £1.19 a litre at the filling station on Inchinnan Rd, Renfrew
  17. He's clearly forgotten about Wallace, Grieg and Le Guen
  18. Gerry McNee wrote a book about the film which I read many years ago, it was around the time he was tipping St Mirren for relegation.....
  19. Brentford, who are a few miles from Heathrow, have done this a few times. With so many airlines using Heathrow you're more likely to get some interest I suppose. I recall this being discussed at previous AGMs and the club couldn't find an interested buyer.
  20. I think they'd perform better in a winning team, so yes they would be selected in that circumstance.
  21. That's a fair point, but it doesn't account for the success that Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Swansea, who all changed manager and then avoided relegation.
  22. Its now certain its another relegation dogfight season, that is a normal for us. What I would say is that with both Gus and Danny, for all their faults, they could get performances when they really needed them. That competitive quality isn't evident this season, we look a soft touch - we have a combination that we always look like we'll lose at least one goal and its difficult to see where we can get a goal from ourselves. It may well be that a change of manager might still see us relegated, my issue is I've no confidence that TC would be much more effective in division below, inevitably that'd be squad without McGinn and McLean. If he's not the right man for this season or next season, then the decision takes care of itself and should be made now while there's a break in the season to allow for it.
  23. The polls were pretty accurate about the referendum, in the final week: http://blog.whatscotlandthinks.org/2014/09/well-polls/ It might not be the Bradley effect, but there did seem to a late tip towards 'no'. I've got my doubts the SNP can get 52% in the general election; like it or not Labour has a big campaign machine and that's not in action right now but it will be in action in the run up to the General Election
