  1. Blyth features in channel 4s 'bouncers' prog tonight 11pm. Not very clued up on blyth tbh despite being relatively local. Work with a lot of lads from blyth and it seems to have a bit of a bad rep' but I've no real experience of the place myself.
  2. 2-1 defeat away at East Fife unfortunately. Nov 4th 1967, the day after I was born.
  3. In a break with tradition Newcastle have pencilled in about 9 friendlies already. Usually keep everyone guessing until the shortly before the games and then it's a struggle to arrange transport etc. Only 1 home game though. Real Sociedad on Aug 10th.
  4. Watched them in the Northern League at Dunston season before last. Won the league that year and i think they went into the Conference North last season. Made the play offs but lost amid chaotic scenes. Darlington player had his leg broken after 16 seconds. The opposing player only got a booking for an awful challenge so it ended up with the fans attacking players etc. They were playing at Bishop Aucklands' place but are using a rugby club back in Darlington for home games now.
  5. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-uniteds-conor-newton-targeted-7085351 May be old news but just noticed this in my local paper.
  6. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2580115/Did-gypsies-cut-Middlesbrough-mans-penis-revenge-Police-search-A66-missing-manhood.html I shudder every time i hear or read about this story. Shocking.
  7. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-26456029 I've heard of having a stiffy, but a staffy?
  8. I take your point SD with regard to the size of fines etc, but £100,000? A tenth of a million, for a rush of blood to the head. No pun intended. The comparison i made was only because others were comparing the Pardew situation with the "If i did that at my work i'd be sacked" scenario. See post #21.
  9. I just think it's unfair to try and compare football with everyday life in the 'real world'. I agree that if you act in such an aggressive manner at work you'd expect the sack. Footballs an entertainment, and although wrong, pardews misdemeanour was entertaining. Look at ice hockey. Players are stuck into each other all the time. If footballers got sacked every time they assaulted an opponent we'd lose half the league. My comparison was one in which pardew made an aggressive gesture, but one which was never going to cause harm, compared to a motorist who landed a violent attack which could have left a cyclist dead or brain damaged.
  10. Can't wait to view those covent garden photos. Be like sitting through someone else holiday snaps. Boring! Sunderland fans escape their shithole for a day or 2. Woohoo.
  11. As i say, he's reacted badly and angrily, but he's human like anyone else. Let's face it most people would have been wound up by Meylers push. That's not trying to justify it. It's just that i can understand why he's reacted. While we're on the subject, how come if a player raises his hands/pushes another player he gets sent off, yet pushing a manager only merits a booking?
  12. if we're going to make such comparisons, I watched a prog about dangerous drivers earlier. A driver gets from his car and punches a cyclist twice in the head. He was fined £600. Pardew has been fined £100000 by his club and thats before the FA get hold of him. Doesn't seem proportionate to me. He reacted stupidly in the heat of the moment, has admitted as much and will accept his punishment. He could not be more apologetic. The way some in the media are talking, he should be sharing a cell with Lee rigbys murderers or the yorkshire ripper.
  13. Don't blame them. Got to enjoy such a big occasion. Could well be back in the FA cup too though.
  14. Bit of a clash with a Russian festival in trafalgar square on Sunday apparently. Just saying.
  15. R.I.P Willie. A memorable character from my trips north, particularly from years gone by when the North End folks used the court bar and then the Hole in the wa'. Sad news.
  16. Horses? Hopefully Man City will gallop to victory on Sunday and win at a canter. Full credit to SAFC as a club for reaching a national final. I wish my club had been intersted in doing likewise. The fans on the other hand don't deserve any credit for turning out just for the big day. I still wouldn't swap places. After the cup runs are over SAFC will still be fighting the drop while NUFC won't, at least not this season anyway.
  17. I read that Gibraltar were originally drawn against Spain but the groups were altered so as not to 'exacerbate political tensions'. Seems wrong that.
  18. 3 words to sum it up. Out the woodwork. 16k for a 5th round fa cup tie v premier league opponents the other week. Where were the super fans that day?
  19. Still 13 points clear of your mob. Still 8th in the league, even with an owner with absolutely no ambition.
  20. aye, I'll be at the saints game tomorrow. As I've pointed out, my 1st love Newcastle have no interest in cups and are happy to be also rans. It FA cup day down here.
  21. you'll have to battle it out with all those others who couldn't be bothered to attend previous ties and now claim to be the worlds greatest fans. Fair play to Sunderland though. They did what they needed to do. Probably got man utd at a good time, minus RVP and Rooney but that's not sunderlands fault. Incredible drama last night. Fairytale stuff for the mackems. I must say I went upstairs to bed after the game cursing like I had tourettess though. Angry at Sunderland for managing to reach a final as an ordinary/poor side. Angry at man utds non performance when for once I'd have liked them to succeed. Also angry at the fact that every club other than Newcastle actually strives to succeed and not simply exist.
  22. 9000 mackem 'super fans' heading down tomorrow. The same magnificent fans who couldn't be a*s*d to turn up for the home leg. Might have something to do with the free buses provided.
  23. Think I'm gonna drive up for this. Any advice on parking near the ground? How early would I have to get there to grab a space nearby? Biggish crowd hopefully and saints open up a gap between them and the play off place.
