  1. Heard somewhere that we don't make any/much money from the club shop anyway? It's allegedly owned by the company that runs security for the stadium
  2. We sold over 1,000 tickets today alone
  3. Surprise m*therf*cker We're certainly not short of interest for places. 200 could sell out quite fast. Take some pictures on the day
  4. I hear if you add a hola to your google chrome you can go on holiday without leaving the hoose
  5. Update: 13/03/17 I've been deliberately quiet on this during the priority sale for season ticket holders. As mentioned previously, it's only fair that ST holders got their choice first. General sale opens tomorrow at 10am, so we're now good to go with our section. With huge thanks to Campbell Kennedy, we've secured seats together for those up for a party - ideally located behind the goals (slightly to the right) If you would like to join us - just ask the ticket office to sit in the "active" or "singing" section, (they'll know what you're on about) - and they'll give you a ticket in our part of the ground. We have space for over 200 buddies. As for the flag display, Motherwell have kindly agreed to let us in early to set up. Also confirmed that our flags fall within stadium guidelines. If you can volunteer some time pre match to help set up - drop me a PM. I shall repay you in beer. This display does require mass participation. If you find a flag on your seat, wave it like hell as the teams come out. Keeping schtum on the specifics, but we think it'll show our club in a good light! Any questions, feel free to ask (or PM) COYS
  6. Hi Spoogy1 No update to report other than what's in the OP, still early days. Not putting up pictures... But what we can tell you is that there will be a lot of flags involved
  7. Everyone is welcome to join us. The fact that around half of the names we have are families with young children speaks volumes. That said, we don't want to spoil the day for people who don't want their view obscured by flags, so having our own section of a couple of hundred people makes sense. I can honestly say that once you see the display, you'll change your mind on it. It's unlike anything we've done before, on a totally different scale, thanks to the crowdfund. There's no right or wrong way to support St Mirren, but everyone should have the choice to support the team in their chosen way. The fact that we want to sing, wave flags... doesn't make us any better or worse than yourself. I don't understand why you're so keen to put us down.
  8. ba dum tsh Perhaps you could be our drummer...
  9. Getting this back on topic. After a lot of discussion and pondering, a plan is in place. We're placing the order asap, as most of our material will be coming from Poland. As promised, I'll happily post up receipts, once rates have been agreed with the supplier. A huge thanks to everyone who has donated. Honestly blown away by the generosity. Our group are determined to give everyone (even the doubters) something to be proud of. As a team on the way to fan ownership, I feel this is a great example of what can be done when our supporters come together as one. Not giving away many details about the display. One thing we can confirm, it's not a card display. It also won't be a dig at our opponents. It's been designed to capture the spirit of our club. This is by far the most ambitious plan we've ever put together. Anyone who wants to help can get in touch through Twitter, or via the email address below. Will update the thread as we go along. Email: [email protected]
  10. Why does everything need to be a fight on here? Can't we all just get along? If you don't like the idea and don't want to participate, that's absolutely fine. Fan displays aren't for everyone. At Kilmarnock we bought £80 worth of inflatable pandas, cows, beach balls, streamers and balloons. All the weans loved it. There's nothing sinister about our intentions, just a group of St Mirren fans who want to make a cup final memorable. Thanks to everyone who's replied, donated and gave feedback. We genuinely do take it all on board.
  11. Absolutely brilliant! Cheers div I didn't say you were rejecting the team... Don't want to take this any further off topic. (I wasn't involved in the cup final display 4 years ago. Perhaps you've got me mixed up with someone else) Thanks for all the positive replies. Will update the thread as we go along.
  12. Receipts we can do nae bother. Thanks to everyone who's made a donation. All of you are great! Oaksoft, I don't even want to get into this. We'll let you know where we'll be doing it as soon as the location is confirmed. As for not helping the team? We've heard from our own players that they love having a lively Saints support behind them. This is a great opportunity to bring our fans together, united behind the team. Just hope everyone will get involved, it only works if everyone participates
  13. We're going down the flag route this time. Our fans don't do card displays.... Funding is going great so far. Thanks to everyone who has contributed! Some great buddies out there. We've usually just made DIY stuff before, never set out with an actual budget. This time we want to make something that everyone will be proud of. Our support has been excellent recently, so I'm sure it'll be a success.
  14. Haha, positive as always mr oaksoft. Yeah we know the black doesn't work. We've got a few ideas already. No black involved
  15. As some of you may have seen on Twitter, a group of us are arranging a cup final display. These things take up a lot of time and effort. We've had mixed success with these in the past, but confident we know what we're doing this time around! We've made up a gofundme page, if you could spare a couple of quid, it would really help us to buy materials. Would appreciate any comments, advice, suggestions or questions to get this show on the road! https://www.gofundme.com/cup-final-flag-display-smfc/ Update 1, 21st Feb: - first batch of material ordered - help required, if anyone has a talent for art and can spare a few hours, please get in touch - [email protected] Update 2, 24th Feb: Have collected just under 150 names of people who want to join us for the display. Speaking with ticket office to ensure that we have our own section of the stadium (not restricting view for other supporters). St Mirren have given us information regarding safety etc. No issues. Crowdfund figure, £360! Thank you to everyone who has been kind enough to help. Update: 13/03/17 I've been deliberately quiet on this during the priority sale for season ticket holders. 16. We need to get away from this mentality of - things ain't going well, sack the manager. Stability is what we need. Not disruption. Farce of a thread.
  17. Great update. Really enjoyed the improvement in communication between fans and the club. Just need to improve on the park now!
  18. This thread is an embarassment. Welcome Craig. Ignore the idiots, we're a good club and you'll enjoy it once we start winning more often
  19. If that's true. Mental that we're choosing not to sell our own kits at our own stadium.
  20. Good to see such harmony on the forum I see Sunderland and Villa are after McAllister - doubt we'll be keeping him
  21. Some of you might have seen this on Wordpress already In a world of turbulence and political unrest, the one thing you hope for after a long working week, is a bit of relief at the weekend. A place for togetherness - free from discontent, capitalist bullshit, Brexit and Donald Trump. For a large percentage of Scotland, that place is their local football ground. At one ground in particular, the local team provides no happy place. Gaining just 4 points from their first 13 games of the season, 7 points behind part-time Dumbarton, it's not a good time to be a buddie. For the die hard St Mirren fan, the national cup win in 2013 already feels decades ago. ——— The problems unofficially began when Danny Lennon wasn't offered a new contract. The board at that time, decided a fresh pair of eyes was required at the training ground in Ralston. The 45 year old, who became boss in 2010, was relieved of his duties. For some, this was viewed as a step in the right direction. Danny had taken us as far as he could. We had the chance to bring in a top class manager. Fulfilling our desire to push into the top 6 of Scottish football, cementing our place as a progressive, top tier club. Club statement: "Danny and his players gave our club one of its finest days on 17 March 2013 and will always be remembered by the club for that wonderful day. Decisions like this are never easy, however, we would commend Danny for his professionalism and the dignified way he carried out his duties during a very challenging season." Yes, Danny struggled. But in his defence, he retained our place in the top tier, on a limited budget. A strong finish to the season led to us finishing 8th, with memorable post-split wins over Motherwell, Hibs and Ross County. Our place in the top tier consolidated, Lennon left Paisley with his head held high. On the 13th May 2014, the board appointed Tommy Craig as manager. Buddies shared mixed feelings on Internet forums and social media. "What was the point of replacing Danny?" "What credentials does Tommy have?" "A 10% win rate with a Belgian club?" "Ok. He's a fantastic coach, but is he a manager?". "Is this a cost cutting exercise?" It seemed to go against the mantra of the club. Bad results followed. Apathy set in, the negativity became infectious. Humped 4-0 by Inverness. Tommy Craig was replaced by Gary Teale. Gary, by his own admission, was not an experienced manager. He did his best under tough circumstances. St Mirren were relegated. f**k, thought the fans. Ian Murray was next in line for the throne. A young, up and coming manager. Was he the answer? It quickly became evident that he wasn't. Ian liked to tinker, and tinker he did. Any stability at the club was now gone. Even in the lower league, we struggled. A team short of confidence. The fans stuck by, desperate for any hint of improvement. The tired owners sought a way out. Chief Executive Brian Caldwell left the club, a huge loss. Enter Alex Rae. Alex arrived at the club painting no illusions, no bullshit. He was in Paisley to win games. A fans Q&A was held at the stadium. He brought a vision of no fancy-dance football - just get the baw forward and in the net. It worked, for a time. We finished in a reasonable Championship position with a good win rate. It was now time to rebuild. Rae made the decision to get rid of 11 players, using his contacts at Rangers to bring in no fewer than 6 players with previous connections to the troubled Ibrox club. Rumblings of fan ownership in Paisley have been around for decades. The previous owners finally got their wish and relinquished control. Gordon Scott, backed by fan ownership group SMISA, took the reigns. Rumours started to circulate of training ground unrest, a manager who didn't believe in youth development. Bad results on the park didn't help, and it certainly didn't sit well with Gordon Scott, who ultimately took the decision to fire Rae. ——— Over the years our club has been de-stabilised to extreme levels. Our support is passionate, but frustrated. A hardcore number of us would follow the club to the ends of the earth. (Even Greenock) To put it bluntly, we deserve better. Fan ownership gave us a vision of what could be possible, but that vision has been clouded by a fog of uncertainty. As it stands, the harsh reality is that we're sprinting like Usain Bolt towards League 1. That end would be catastrophic for a club like ours. A small group was formed, with view to promoting active, vocal support for the team. Unfortunately, red tape, acoustics and the logistics of the stadium - does not make it an easy task to find a suitable area for a singing section. Our long term ambition is to unite our fan base, the singers and non singers, young and old, male and female, behind the common goal of backing our team as best we can. I'm going to be quite plain. The club, the boards decisions, stewarding, policing... often don't make it easy to support our team in a positive way. One of our members, Josh - was banned from the stadium after an incident during the Morton game. (despite not being proven guilty) I speak plainly from the position of a fan, to fellow fans. This is a message to everyone. We all want to save our club from what now looks like an almost certain relegation to the 3rd tier of Scottish football. It's commonly known in psychology that negativity breeds negativity. For the rest of this season, we don't want a singing section. We want a united support. Humans, by nature, hold more power when they come together, as one. At away games, let's all sit together. If you see empty seats next to a fellow fan, let's fill them. Don't leave any gaps. We're all St Mirren. Cram into one section, shout encouragement. At home, let's get everyone towards the segregation line in the West stand. Pack that stand as much as we can. If we stick together, shout, chant, (sing if you want to) - the atmosphere will improve and the fog will lift. If there's a lull in the game, if you hear it going quiet, clap. Get the whole ground clapping. The team will appreciate it, and respond. It's really simple. It's now or never. Let's come together and save our club. TL;DR - the clubs not in a great position, pull together, give the team a lift
