FS
Those Range Rovers, were the airfield operations unit. In order to get CAA permission for the visit, certain conditions had to be met as Glasgow is not fully A380 compliant yet. The vehicles formed an escort and were in radio contact with the flight crew providing visual updates during the taxying, in case it got too near any structures or fixtures. Nothing was allowed to park at the adjacent domestic pier at the BA lounge end whilst it was in. I spoke to some CAA bods whilst there, all of whom were happily ticking off their checklists and seemed happy the airport peeps had handled the whole thing very well. Looks like the big bird could be a regular visitor by late 2014. I was also told that British Airways and others are keen to add Paisley International onto the list of official divert airports for the A380 too. Tommy
For a plane so big, the windows for the pilot looked so small. Reckon looking behind or sideway don't matter for a plane that size

saintnextlifetime
It is only a plane but I have to take my hat off for what is really a publicity coup for Emirates . It must also be a bit of a triumph for them over the national carrier , in that , they managed to get the first flight of the A380 into Glasgow with an a/c which has a bloody, big Glasgow Commonwealth Games logo on the side of the fuselage. Thanks for the footage , FS. . ETA some of the components for the A380 are built in Scotland. .
