Le Tour De France. .2015

Recommended Posts

Froome looking strong today, stays in yellow, will be an interesting team time trial tomorrow which is hilly and finishes with the time of the fifth man on teams of 9, so a lot of teams men will get dropped out on the road.

Flat stage riders retire now and the mountain climbers take over, Pyrenees starts on Tuesday after a rest day.

NOTE** the webmaster is sniffing about, so a deletion is imminent...................

This thread was started on 23rd June 2014 and was originally called "le tour de france 2014" so is the

older thread, the title was changed because the op is a feckin septic ignorant scrote with more

faces than the toon hall clock.

Aye... BMC won the stage - but by just pipping SKY, left Froomey with the yella jersey.

Wee Nairo's closer to contention - a good day for him. smile.png

(Though still 2 more minutes down than I'd hoped...)

History has been made by the current holder of the polka -dot Jersey , Eritrean rider Daniel Tekelhaimanot , as he is the first African to wear the king of the mountains Jersey . He rides for the African team , MTN Qhudeka but more interesting than that , the team is currently being managed by ex-Scottish Champion , Brian Smith who happens to come from Paisley . .

I am willing to let sleeping dogs lie.

Without a strong team to back him up he will lose this in the next day or two.

Brian Smith has never ridden the tour, has he ever been involved in any other

capacity in the tour de france?

He is a good commentator and I had hoped to hear him on British Eurosport as I cannot

understand Sean Kelly.

Yellow jersey fight over on first day in the mountains. Froome just needs to stay on his bike now.

With so many days of climbing ahead, what chance of Froome also winning green points jersey?

That was quite an amazing bit of bikey-ing! :o

So impressive.

Nairo's three minutes behind now! Hard to see him/anyone catching onto Froome again.

Indeed , he needs to stay on the bike ( with the cobbles behind him that shouldn't be too difficult) , but he also needs to be ready for attacks in the climbs from the likes of wee Nairo who , desperately needs to claw back some of the time he has lost today . Wee Bertie could be looking at too big a gap now too close considering , that , he has now lost Basso from his team . .

If there are some attacks in the mountains , which I'm sure there will be , all the more interesting for us . .????

Well , it looked like Nibali cracked again today and lost another 50 seconds in the overall contention , by his own admission he isn't the rider we saw last year. .

Well done , to Serge Paulwels who finished 4th today after a sterling effort whilst wearing a jersey that looked more like a Saints top than last seasons effort by JD Sport. .

Yesterday's stage 12 saw the Tour in the Pyrenees for the last day , this year . As predicted the attacks in the mountains started with all the main contenders , except Van garderen , having a dig . It was probably the attack of wee Berti that looked the least impressive , tho' Valverde made up for it . .

There was a programme last night about Froomey , which was pretty decent , you should be able to view it here https://www.itv.com/itvplayer/sports-life-stories/series-3/episode-2-chris-froome

That made for interesting viewing -the final forty or so minutes.

I felt for the poor Pole as he was swept up, then enjoyed the Spaniard leaping into the lead...

Had to admire the Welshman constantly grinding to the front to chaperone Froome - what was Froome thinking of, when he pushed ahead on his own?!?

And the weather added its bit of interest, though only one skinning crash, that we saw....

Did Peter Sagan ever finish....?

ETA. Just checked - he still has his Shellic tap...
