faraway saint
4 days of golf starts on Thursday with the main focus being on Rory McIlroy. If he managed to win the atmosphere would be off the scale. No sure who I'll bet on, I usually wait till the first two days are played to see who is on form. Here is how it works Round One - Token English or unheard of Yank shoots 64 and leads by 2 Round 2- Bigger Fish shoots low- Rory 66, Tiger 66 or something like that- Big Fish misses cut, Blast from Past sneaks in Cut Round 3- Token English player shoots 63 Round 4- Some Top 6 player wins it Hope that has helped

shull
Is there 2 Opens ? One played overnight under floodlights ? Noticed a similar Thread on the Nightshift Section of the Forum.

Isn't there a thread on The British Open already? I know how angry you chaps get about duplicate threads.
faraway saint
Looking like the weather will be a major factor as the 4 days are predicted to be wet/windy. A fragile Tiger, IMO, won't be able to hold himself together for 4 rounds, if he gets to Saturday. All looking like an outsider could sneak into contention, back to the stats before I place any more bets. faraway saint
Just caught the tail end of a programme, The Road to the Open At Royal Portrush, on the BBC. Nice insight into the logistics of setting up one of the major tournaments in the world.

faraway saint
The home crowd have a new hero, Lowry, currently ripping it up at -9. I could make up I'm there, even though I'm watching it on TV.
faraway saint
Ok, after careful consideration here's my bets for the winner of the Open.................... Koepka 6/1 Rose 15/2 Spieth 16/1 My earlier choice, Molinari, is 7 shots off the lead. Spare a thought for Rory, shot a magnificent 65 yesterday, missing the cut bu one shot. Unlucky wee man. Weathers meant to be wild tomorrow, could well make it closer than it suggests at the minute.
St.Ricky
Not sure why when there is another British Open thread. But great round by the Republic of Ireland player..might soon be the whole of Ireland as one country. Isn't it time we gave NI back?

The top of the leaderboard start heading out between 1:00 - 2:00pm. I'm predicting the winning score will be around -12 as the weather will take it's toll. faraway saint
Getting slightly interesting, Lowry, 4 ahead of Fleetwood with 6 to play. Fleetwood ballooned his shot to the 13th over the green, Lowry pops his into a bunker.
