I think when people like him, his predecessor was similar, get to the position that they can almost do anything they lose any sense of reality.  No one's saying Lukaku was a risk. He started against Iran, had the 2nd 45 against Senegal and was used, as you suggest, later in the other games, although not my point.  Clarke was shot down for playing players who had hardly any game time for their clubs, the same as Lukaku.
