Your view is dated as there's been, albeit fairly recent, a considerable rise in players along with a change from the majority being "middle class" which I never found to be true when I played in Paisley.  I suppose we'll really need to wait another 5-10 years to see if there's an increase in successful players at elite level, which is more to do with coaching than just numbers.  Murray, and his brother, traveled to Spain to hone their skills but Andy had a determination that can't be taught.  The LTA have spunked millions away over the years, too busy patting themselves on the back because Wimbledon is such a showpiece.  They had, and probably still do, dinosaurs at every level, time they became extinct. I know they weren't overly keen on Judy Murray.
