  1. Can’t believe it’s only 1-0 All St Mirren here, excellent stuff. Had two clear cut chances since the opening goal.
  2. Superb stuff from the Saints. Overlap down the right and cut back, tremendous finish first time on the left foot from 12 yards from the Young Turk. 1-0 Come on!
  3. Feeling strangely optimistic today. There was a lot to be positive about last weekend and Aberdeen just back from Eastern Europe on Friday morning. We have a right chance to get a result today. Get Waters straight in the 11 and start Obika instead of Mullen. 1-1
  4. I know we lost today, and we will probably lose our next two but... Just thought today exemplified the absolute folly of some our support getting themselves in such a state during the league cup group stage.
  5. FT 1-0 Hibs were certainly the better team second half but still a sickener to lose it so late. We showed enough though, enough for us to feel more positive about the season ahead than we did this morning. We at least looked like a Premiership team, which we didn’t in the league cup.
  6. Agree regarding S McGinn. We are clearly a much better team without him. But if these boys were in sooner...? We would have won the league cup group and be away in Parkhead next Tuesday...? 🤨
  7. HT 0-0 Good. Certainly much better than anything we done in the league cup, as expected. Durmus and Foley look good, involved plenty anyway. Been pretty even but if anyone’s been the better team it’s been us, we’ve had a decent couple of chances to be ahead. Hibs haven’t looked great at all. Be some boost if we got something today, particularly with Aberdeen and Rangers coming up next. Big 45 coming up.
  8. Who on earth would want to invest in St Mirren? And why? The club was for sale for almost 10 years and virtually no one was interested. There aren’t a queue of rich benefactors waiting outside the ticket office wanting to give us money to get on the board. Non starter.
  9. No? Unless Albion Rovers beat Dunfermline 9 points will be enough. It was last year.
  10. FT 1-0 We won, we got a clean sheet and we are still in the cup. There endeth the positives. Less said about the rest of the game the better. Credit to Edinburgh, they came and dug in and on another day they would have got the draw. Onto East Kilbride!
  11. HT 0-0 Yeh nothing happening. Same as first half Saturday, except the other team haven’t scored 3 goals. Need to improve hugely second half and win, else we are out.
  12. Yep. Jim knows fine well what a proper captain should do in midfield. He did it plenty. No surprise then that he seen right through wet blanket McGinn in his first game in charge. Hopefully he doesn’t pander to him the way the PE teacher did.
  13. Completely agree. S McGinn is hopeless and needs dropping for Wednesday. Shocking performance from him today, and not the first time.
  14. FT 2-3 Second half a bit better but didn’t do enough, certainly deserved to lose overall. Lot of signings required, will be a busy 6 weeks between now and the end of August for sure. Need new players everywhere pretty much. Funny results happen in this group stage so no point in panicking, if we beat Edinburgh City, East Kilbride and Albion Rovers we will almost certainly qualify. Just need to make sure we do it. This time two years ago we got gubbed 5-0 by Partick Thistle. This time last year we drew at home to Spartans. Both times we won our opening league game a few weeks after.
  15. HT 0-3 Pretty grim watch that. Team looks like they’ve never met each other. S McGinn and Magennis in particular have had shockers but no one’s been any good. Goodwin has some job on his hands here.
  16. Getting to the knock out stages matter. How we do it doesn’t. 10 points will certainly be enough, 9 probably will be (we qualified with 9 last season), even 8 could be. Point is we can progress without winning every game. Therefore not winning today - which will be our hardest game - is absolutely fine.
  17. Team we thinking then? Something like: Hladky McGinn-Baird-GMac-Erahon Djorkaeff-McGinn-Flynn-Magennis Andreu-Mullen Be interesting to see what Sir Jim goes with. Despite it being a competitive game I’m not too concerned about winning. A draw should do us, assuming we can get it done in the other 3 games against the part time teams. As we seen yesterday there’s always a lot of strange results in this group stage. Queens Park beating Accies in Hamilton on pens [emoji848]
  18. Hladky will be away either this summer for a fee or next summer for nothing. Likely sign a PCA in January if he doesn’t go now. Dilemma for the board, take the money or keep the player for a year and then lose him for nothing.
  19. Delighted with this signing. Signing one of your rivals main men is always a great piece of business. Hamilton fans are raging, good.
  20. Love a Flarey Bob summer transfer thread. Disappointed at no mention of Billy Clabby and/or the patter bar though?
  21. Djemba-Djemba was our saviour? Going to have to quote me there [emoji23] And yep I did think that about Jack Ross. Just like most of the Sunderland support it would seem.
  22. Fantastic appointment, delighted. One of the best young managers in Scotland who’s already cup winning captain and a bona fide club legend. What could go wrong...?! Definitely has the whiff of something that’s been plotted for a while, before the end of the season perhaps. Good. Kearney wasn’t up to it and I’m glad he’s gone and Jim was the only man to replace him. Had the fear we were going to lose out on him this summer if another full time club got to him first. Thankfully Gordon’s got our man, by whatever means necessary. Who knows what the season ahead will hold. Whatever happens I’m sure it isn’t going to be dull...
  23. McKenzie has played 19 league games out of 74 the last 2 seasons. 14 in 17/18 and 5 in 18/19. He’s available roughly a quarter of the time. Trade off is that on the few occasions he is fit he’s absolutely brilliant at this level. One of the best defenders in the league without a doubt. Thats the reason why we got him and why we still have him of course. No other club will touch a player as injury prone as him with a ten foot barge pole. Fine by us though, and why not. Looking forward to his 10 superb performances next season.
