  1. I don't think Mallan will be leaving Barnsley in the January transfer window. I can't see the manager giving him his first start yesterday then puting him out on loan a few weeks later. I had this fanciful idea that as the season unfolded that Mallan might return in January given his lack of 1st team action. Can't see it happening now. Good luck to Stevie as I think he is a real talent with a bright future ahead of him
  2. I think regardless of what the score is on Friday night that what the bulk of this group of players went through and character they showed from February until May will stand us in great stead in the second of this season. It will be our toughest test at home by some distance this season but if we perform to our best then we have a terrific chance of getting something from the game. I just hope we do ourselves justice given the game is being shown live at St Mirren Park. United have been on a bit of a downer for a few years now so let's how that continues on Friday and they implode in the coming months because it really does look like its between united and us for top spot.
  3. This will be a massive game for St Mirren FC. Has the makings of being a belter of a game. Can't wait for it. I really hope we turn up and do ourselves justice. We are a good side on our day and I hope we show the watching public just how good we can be. Morgan MOM. :-) Just a thought but over 4,500 for an off the boil Dunfermline side at home to rock bottom side Brechin today. Will be surprised if there are over 4,500 on Friday night. I think we might get a result the way we are playing.
  4. Can't wait for this game! Going to round up a few lapsed saints fans and non saints fans get them down to this one.
  5. What a win! On daddy day care so couldn't make the game but watched the closing 15 minutes on periscope parked up outside the abbey with the kids after an afternoon swim at the lagoon. As I heard on the live feed, this is why we watch saints. These special away days where you are almost completely down and out then pull out a truly maginificent performance and result. I have said it a few times but this has the makings of a memorable season. Was down at the club shop this morning buying my son, daughter and nephews various St Mirren related merchandise. I Overheard the girl in ticket office say that various corporate days are sold out. There really is a buzz about the place. It's great! Spread the word and get as many lapsed buddies down to St Mirren Park next Friday. You're club needs you!
  6. Great to see the Ross doing well. Helping out Goodwin but more importantly helping his development as a St Mirren player. Good luck big guy and hope to see you back raring to go for next season.
  7. Morgan is a very talented young player and we should enjoy him while we can. As much as he is a talented young player he won't get anywhere near the Celtic first team for quite a while yet should he sign. It would not surprise me if we were to get him back on loan for next season as well should we get promoted this season. Celtic signed Aberdeens best player during the summer Jonny Hayes, who had been a real stand out for the second best team in the country for a few season's and he has barely featured for Celtic. Jack and Brendan seem to have developed a good relationship and I think we might benefit from Morgan's services for a wee bit longer. I hope Lewis gets the best deal he can as he has been a joy to watch since he first came into the side. Interested to see how this all pans out but great to see St Mirren bringing through some very talented players. Keep up the good work St Mirren Academy.
  8. Well done to the fans council and all those involved in what was a fantastic event. The place was packed with young families enjoying a great couple of hours entertainment. Jack Ross was there with his two young daughters along with John Sutton and his young lads and eckersley and his family plus Bairdy, Smith, Mcgennis and Stelios. The guy hosting the day was terrific from start to finish. A big congratulations and thank you to everyone involved.
  9. It's all about winning games and getting out of this league. I felt we were the better team in the first with Morgan really in the mood. Can't believe Reilly missed with the lob and thought their keeper was lucky to stay on when he took out Reilly. I assume the centre half and covered round behind the goalkeeper and the referee possibly felt he could have prevented a goal but would have to see again. We just didn't play in the second half after a bright first 5-10 minutes. Their penalty didn't look like a penalty and think referee eventually got it right. One of my bug bears this season is the slightly disappointing crowds at St Mirren Park. Only 3,600 yesterday with a very poor 350 from Dunfermline. There were 5,700 at East End Park back in September. Falkirk and Dunfermline are regularly getting bigger crowd than us this season especially with Falkirk being so bad. This could be a title winning season and would really hope to see over 4,000 in the home end for each game. I have a feeling we will only get really big crowds in the last 2 or 3 home games of the season. I have no real idea how they get the crowds up but possibly drop prices for Inverness game to say £5 for adults as a thank you to the support and get people back in through the door. There is a possibility we could be heading into January 6 or 7 points ahead of United if results go our way. This could be a memorable season you want to tap into the feel good factor and get St Mirren Park as full as possible. Alternatively something like season ticket holders can bring a friend for a tenner or something with kids going free. This is a good time to be a buddie. My son was at the panda club for the first time and absolutely loved it. Would recommend it to anyone with a youngster. Top of the league without really playing to our best so what is not to like. This team will get better and we will strengthen in January so all positive stuff fellow buds. My MOM was big Jack Baird. He was immense again. A real unsung hero within that side and has been our best defender by far this season. Keep up the good work Bairdy!
  10. Isle of bute saint are you in the 1877 club tomorrow? [emoji41]
  11. Saints to win and United to lose in Dumfries. Saints top! Mon the Saints! Amazing what a night on the sauce from work does for your confidence. My sons first day at panda club tomorrow.
  12. Myself and Supermac are heading along with our kids on Sunday to the Christmas party. Never been before and don't know what the set up is but the kids are looking forward to it. Hopefully celebrating saints being top of the league come Sunday.
  13. Back to the tried and tested staring 11. 3 points, United to stumble at Cappielow and saints back top. Happy days!
  14. Never a sending off. An average ariel challenge that you see several times throughout every game. Daft on Stelios 's part to give the referee the chance but don't think it was a sending off. Found out shortly after the game that the players were in taxis on the way to airport for their night out in Belfast. I think most of them left the stadium at 3:05. Poorest team effort since January 2017 at home to QOS. Every player should be ashamed of that showing yesterday. We were so poor and found that massively disappointing considering we had a great chance to beat an very average Dumbarton team. Next week we will see a different team effort at Brechin but yesterday was poor and an opportunity missed to push ourselves further ahead of the chasing pack.
  15. It would be like Ricky Gillies in 2000. Make it happen St Mirren FC!
  16. Sorry Brian! Forgot about the Paradise Papers stash. [emoji41]
  17. Happy 29th birthday Stephen McGinn! I think Stephen might enjoy a very happy birthday on Saturday. We always seem to struggle against Dumbarton and Saturday may be no different as they are a dogged and well organised side but I think we will keep our performance levels high and will win this one. The confidence is growing in the side again and I think the place will be busy and extremely positive on Saturday. Black and White Army football day out on Saturday for the guys that play at the dome on Monday and Wednesday night. We have between £500-£600 in the kitty. See you in the 1877 club from 1ish for some pre and post match antics. :-) Get in touch with your fellow buddies and get them down to St Mirren Park as this side are going places. That includes you faraway saint. ;-) Would love to see a crowd of 4,500 plus on Saturday. St Mirren 2 Dumbarton 0
  18. What a massive result. We are serious title contenders now and players like mcgennis, Davis, Reilly, McGinn and Morgan to name but a few will only get better as the season unfolds. We were the better team in the first half and had what looked like a perfectly good goal chopped off when their keeper was beaten to the ball in the air. Also had an eckersley cross float over keeper and crack off the post when keeper beaten. Their goal was disappointing as a nothing ariel challenge from cammie smith in the centre of park was given as a free kick to them despite all their hammer throwing antics throughout the match which actually boiled over in the last 10 mins when game was lost. We failed to react to the second ball and got harshly punished. I thought we played really well throughout and stuck to our passing game and deservedly got back into the game and showed a great maturity to go on and win the game. I thought Jack Baird was MOM and was immense again tonight. He has his fair share of critics but is a great asset to the side and learning and improving all the time. The core group of players in this team played together on our amazing run from early February to end of season and have a real winning mentality. This is going to be massive for us as the season progresses. There are so many positives to take from tonight and already can't wait for the Dumbarton game.
  19. Glad to see that common sense has prevailed and everyone is back as one. I think the noise tomorrow night and Saturday could be pretty special. We really are in a great title race and we need everyone in it together in every game.
  20. Sledge hammer to crack a nut? Surely a bit of constructive dialogue between all parties involved could have avoided this. If the club are unhappy with the word 'scum' in a banner being displayed in the home end then I agree that they should speak to individuals/group involved and express their displeasure/ disappointment. Explain that this language is not in keeping with the positive banners which has been very evident in all previous displays and was out of keeping. A ban on all future flag displays between now and end of the season is disappointing as things were building up nicely for the group. There must be more to this story than we all don't know about but can still very easily be resolved by a quick phone call or meeting between Tony Fitzpatrick, Fans liaison officers and individuals involved. I hope this doesn't detract from the positive relationship that appears to have built up between the fans, club, players and management team. I am sure it will be resolved before we know it with a positive outcome for all involved.
  21. Job done! Blew them away in the first half where we were lethal in front of goal. Well done St Mirren FC!
  22. Cheers bud! It was my Edinburgh based bud that mentioned there was a bus down to the ground which I though he said was 26 but as you say most likely the number 25.
