  1. I wouldn't like to meet him on the street now...
  2. I've always liked catching up on the leagues in Europe that are that bit smaller and don't really get the attention of others. Obviously, that proves a nightmare trying to actually 'see' a game as hardly any are televised here, but the likes of Belgium, Austria, Netherlands, Norway and Denmark have some great teams in there. It always seems as though those leagues are a little more hotly contested between most teams (if not necessarily champions) and that - although there are prime contenders for the crown each year - those other teams seem to really slug it out and have such a strong relationship with their fans. That's why I like that brand of football - the fans and the teams have an identity and a culture...
  3. I wonder if people might be so loyal to the UK as to leave Scotland when/if it becomes an independent nation?
  4. Maybe even a little Branston's pickle in there for good measure...add a tangy aftertaste, eh?
  5. Stick a Pizza Express there or a Chiquito's...the club could charge us £11.75 for a slice of pizza or a chicken wing. We'd be in the Champion's League by next year's end...
  6. Cheers! Train it is then. We could do with cutting back on using the car anyway.
  7. What's the traffic like most mornings? Say from 6am onwards? My work will be in central Glasgow and I'm just wondering what the commute time will probably be...
  8. Have you tried plugging your spinglepointer into the dopplemeter for the wiregimpler?
  9. However... I am told by informed sources that unless a formal monetary, regulatory and currency union were agreed by an independent Scotland with the rest of the UK, which also included some kind of compact on taxes, Standard Life would feel obliged to move both funds and people to England. (BBC News)
  10. Picts, Celts and Britons inhabited this Isle long before the Angles, Saxons and Jutes rocked up. They were pushed back to the coasts and the highlands of the nation...which is why Cornish are in a corner of the land, the Scots are scattered across the higher reaches and the Welsh are shoved into a principality. The Angles, Saxons, Jutes and Vikings ravaged most of the central lands and settled in Wessex, Kent, Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Sussex. At least in Northumbria we have retained some of our Celtic heritage - alongside the notable Viking influences.
  11. Balls, no Sky... Cancelled it a few months back.
  12. I must admit, I only really get to see highlights and odd live games, of course I do...but that's how I see it when he plays. I've never watched two games were he seems the same guy. I'm obivously trying too hard to have an opinion when, admittedly, I'm not as clued up as I'd like to be! I am looking forward to getting along to games though - like I said, it doesn't feel as though I've got a valid voice until I can get along there or be more actively involved. I have always been watching/listening from afar, like. It's obviously only in the past 5 or 6 years my interest has been piqued. I'm gonna draw back before I make myself look like a numpty...or more of a numpty anyway.
  13. I thought this was a thread about The Prodigy...
  14. I'll take an 'aye' like...
  15. He is inconsistent...that's not to say he's crap. He doesn't like the expectation that can thrust on him as he obviously takes his responsibility for the club very seriously and has a great deal of affection for it. That can mean that he overthinks and gets flustered. His own standards are impeccably high and that can thrust such burdens on someones shoulders that they eventually begin to buckle. That's what happens... So threads where people just hammer the guy ain't exactly gonna help.
  16. I was gonna say...sacrilege man.
  17. Aye, a geordie work colleague of mine (upon hearing I was leaving to move to Scotland) looked at me earnestly and in all seriousness said, "But, howay man. Ya knar thery're gannan to be fooked up there, like? They won't have the poond or nowt, man. All their money is gannan to be worth aboot as much as Monopoly, like."
  18. I would have been happier if Northumberland and Cumbria had supported the Scottish YES vote and tagged along for independence... At least then they would have been treated with a modicum of dignity.
