  1. Totally agree. 2 center backs, a right back and a top quality striker and we would be a decent side. We are not a million miles away contrary to what is being said. Young guys like Billy Gilmour coming through at Chelsea and Karomoko Dembele at Celtic are not a million miles away. We've have been up against England, Belgium etc over last few years . Lets see what happens when we get a group with the likes of Romania, Hungary etc. Still think we will have a great chance in play off as the teams will in the main be beatable.
  2. If Sunderland don't go up this season or are not in the hunt at any point this season then Jack Ross will be binned. There are plenty of good solid English managers who would get Sunderland promoted so he needs to go up this season. Jack Ross has only won a Scottish Championship, he's at a different level now and many "great" Scottish managers have failed before him in England. So far, average this season.
  3. I think Baird may be recalled if we get a long term injury before January otherwise not and I don't think he'll be back after Jan. Think we might get McLoughlin for the season also.
  4. Correct and JG wants to build a better team than all those managers had, hence no Baird ! We were in play off's last year which is where you get if you have center backs of Jack Baird's level in the Premiership. Jack Baird IMO won't be back in the Premiership again with any club. At 23 if he was good enough there would be plenty of takers, he isn't. Broadfoot and McKenzie are far better players than Baird and so is McLoughlin, so Baird needs to go on loan to get game time. I expect at the end of the season and in Jan also we will bring in other center backs. Baird won't be back unless we get a bad run of injuries. Personally I think Goodwin is a better judge of a player than Kearney as well as a better overall manager but time will tell on that.
  5. Both will do for this season, I'd imagine JG will be planning ahead on this. McLoughlin is a better player than Baird. Doubt Baird will be back.
  6. Because he was a good back up center back at the time and would probably have been fourth choice. There is no way that JR was going with Jack Baird as his first choice pairing. For JG getting Broadfoot makes it an easy decision If we are going to move forward as a club then Jack Baird is not the answer. Doubt any other Premiership club will employ him.
  7. No deal off the table is not what Sturgeon wants.
  8. I agree and I'm 100% behind JG on this, JR thought the same. Honest player and excellent professional but not good enough if we are going to climb the table. Tough decisions make good managers
  9. I've seen hundreds of good ref's over the years and Cassidy couldn't control a game !
  10. Yep to go after a ref for his height is a nonsense. Problem i have is you thinking Brian Cassidy was a good ref. I know a number of grade 1 referees who felt the same 😊
  11. I wasn't impressed with McAllister either last season. Too early to judge this season. Can't beat a man down the line but can if he's cutting inside from the right on his left foot. All one foot and predictable though. Was a standout in Championship but not convinced at Premiership level. I tend to agree with what you say but nobody else does, so tend to think I'm missing something ?
  12. I put him on ignore. He's the only forum member i have on ignore. Can't quite fully get rid of him though as his junk comes through when people quote him 😂
  13. Got to agree with you on this point. You are correct. Watch the West Region Premier League juniors when SMFC are away for £6 and worth every penny.
  14. Time for me to use the Ignore facility on the forum for the first time.
  15. If Rangers play like they did at Kilmarnock in the opening match we have a chance. Also playing them off the back off a difficult away fixture in Europe. On balance can't see us getting anything but even a point would be superb. Matches at Livi and RC coming up should be a better benchmark of where we are. Confident thought that with the signings we have made that we will do fine this season.
  16. So now we know what the Director Of Football, Tony Fitzpatrick and all the staff at the club do. They take their time and bring good quality players to the club that gets us to the point where we beat Aberdeen and at long last seem to have finally recovered from the disgraceful job that Alan Stubbs did to Jack Ross's team.
  17. Not convinced that McInnes is actually good enough to manage the clubs you have listed in terms of winning the English Championship or getting to EPL ? With the finances at Aberdeen I would say he is doing the job expected of him and nothing more.
  18. Jack Ross is a mile away from the sack at Sunderland. The season has just started and a decent result at Ipswich today. League One is a tough league to get out of for any club. Having said that I was amazed that Sunderland gave him the job given his experience was League One and Championship in Scotland. Many solid managers in England with a deep knowledge of the English game should have got that job IMO.
  19. Doubt we will see a lot of S McGinn starting this season other than if we get a run of injuries. We are going in the right direction and I think we are going to suprise a few of the "experts" this season
  20. If ever there was a phrase that summed you up its this one
  21. There is no way he's a Somner, we wouldn't get near a player of that quality these days. On the flip side I can't for a second see Jim Goodwin or Gus McP signing a Brock-Masden either ! I think we are slowly heading in the right direction and going to put a lot of egg on the pundits faces.
  22. Eh, who are the good players Hamilton, Livi and RC have recruited? I think the players we recruited in Jan are far better than anything they have signed this close season. Lets see who we have signed by end of August then we can assess properly
  23. Its easy to bring in junk, much harder to bring in quality. might take a few more weeks to players options get exhausted and we can get deals over the line. All the criticism of Gus McPherson and the board is just laughable. They will be working their backsides off trying to get deals done. I think we should trust Jim and Gus to bring in the quality of player we need. I personally think they are both well capable of knowing what needs fixed and the type of signings we need to make.
  24. Really McAllister left a void, a void in the Championship but definitely not at Premiership level. A fit Andreu is far better player than McAllister.
