  1. I voted yes and yes. I won’t be spitting the dummy and cancelling my membership if the majority vote no.
  2. And the fact we have Livy at home still to come is massive. 1 point over the 2 away games followed by a victory against Livy would be all that’s needed, If it even goes as far as the Livy game.
  3. Samson was suspect for both goals but Gary Mac was really poor for the first goal. Misjudged the flight and didn’t win the header leaving his man with a free header. The secon goal was also Gary Mac, not Baird who tried to head the free kick as it came in. Still expect Samson to save this one although he would have been a little unsighted which is his only defence. The centre half area is something Jack will need to address for next season, we need a quality partner for Davis if he’s still here. For the run in I’d rather Baird got the nod ahead of MacKenzie.
  4. He has one but I can’t remember wotsit called.
  5. Quite a few moans in the stadium but like you say, definitely the minority but enough to draw attention from players and staff. Frustrating stuff.
  6. Still struggling to get my head round the moans. Our recent dip in form has seen us pick up more points in our last 10 games than we picked up in our first 10 games of the season! Same goes for our last 6 games vs our first 6 games. It’s a results business and even more so at this time of the season.
  7. I think a lot of the panic is down to our lead being “cut”to 8 points on Friday night but let’s remember that this has only happened due to points picked up in games in hand. We’ve actually picked up more points than United and Livingston over the last 10 games, even just the last 6 games so we’ve technically stretched our lead as the table takes shape with teams catching up with games played. Even with us losing to Livingston neither team has kept up with our form and we’re still picking up more points then the chasing pack. There’s nothing to suggest that the form over the last 6 or 10 games will change IMO and we will run out as comfortable league winners.
  8. Winning 5 out the last 6 and 8 out the last 10 games, we’re wobbling our way to runaway winners of the league.
  9. Can’t believe the level of criticism being directed at individuals and the team in general just now. Even the best in the world experience dips in form. We’re 11 points clear, enjoy your Saturday night.
  10. It wasn’t pretty today but we got off to a good start and played some really nice stuff for the first 30 mins or so. If we had scored the penalty I think we would have went in to score a couple more. Game really dipped after this but Brechin are so difficult to play against. They may be rock bottom of the league but they’ve not taken many pumpings this season. Very tough to break down. 3 points are all that matters in the end.
  11. There were 2 occasions he reacted to the crowd today. First one was someone at the home dugout side of the stand. The shout was along the lines of “jack, get this mob up for it”. Jack just turned and shook his head several times. 2nd half shout was from the other side of main stand, didn’t hear the shout but this one seemed to annoy him more and at full time he walked off growling in that direction.
  12. Away for an overnight stay in Pitlochry as it was a Christmas gift. Sounds like it was a good game to miss. Dad took the grand kids and left at half time due to some arseholes foaming at the mouth and slevering all sorts of obscenities over the top of them. Quiet word didn’t work and was only heading on one direction. Have experienced this a few times also, we really some inconsiderate wankers (small minority) in our support. The attitude that you’re at the football what you expect is a pile of pish, you wouldn’t behave like that in Braehead with the wife. Pretty reasonable to expect grown men to tone it down if there’s a young kid sitting in the seat in front. Anyway, out for a beer and look forward to getting back on track next week.
  13. Also the relationship and trust built between JR and the board is enhanced even more by the fact that they didn’t deny JR the chance to talk to Barnsley. Maybe rejecting the approach could have had a real negative impact in that relationship and JR could have been tempted to stick 2 fingers up and tried to manufacture an exit.
  14. You talk about ambition and having a championship trophy. Let’s be honest, in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter a great deal. Plenty of managers have had great careers at a high level without winning a single trophy as a manager.
  15. Yes, but he was appointed the manager of an EPL club. Who knows, maybe JR can keep Barnsley up and then guide them to the EPL. Whatever he does I hope it works out for him.
  16. EPL job? Even McInnes failed to get an interview for Swansea, West Ham, West Brom, Palace or Stoke. All lesser clubs and he even captained one of them in the EPL promotion season. JR is doing a wonderful job and there’s no question he’s a great young manager but the chances of him one day managing in the EPL are not impossible but extremely slim.
  17. If I was JR I’d take the Barnsley job if offered. I know there’s unfinished business here and some think he could get a bigger job but when you look at previous managers of ours who have achieved good things in recent years they have ended up at Queens Park and Clyde. A championship offer may never come around again. From out our point of view it’s the only downside of having a good young manager who’s getting some success on the park. We’re still strong enough to get promoted without JR as he’ll be leaving is in a solid position. Financially we’ll be compensated and we won’t be short of decent candidates now people see what sort of club we are these days. We have a togetherness from the fans to players and the board. We’re heading back to the top flight and in a sound financial state. We will have plenty of decent applications for the job. I hope JR stays but I wouldn’t grudge him the move and I think he would be crazy to decline the offer.
  18. Baird has started 22 out of 23 games this season for the team that’s top of the league and lost only 4 games. He’s had a fantastic season, some dodgy moments (like every other player), but an amazing season and a few man of the matches in there as well. We don’t have a single player who hasn’t made mistakes but for some reason we always pick on the young centre half. He’s improving all the time and on current form his place in the starting 11 shouldn’t be questioned. Jack Ross seems to be getting the best out of him, not asking him to do things he’s not comfortable with. Let the others play football, pass it about and be creative. Previous managers have asked centre halves to play beyond their capabilities, with Jack he’s doing the simple things well and clearing his lines if in doubt. Gary Mac is rightly stuck sitting it out on the bench just now and only an injury or suspension will see him get back in temporarily.
  19. The flow of the 2nd half changed when we took off McShane and moved Magennis into the middle. The energy in the middle from McGennis is a much better option alongside McGinn than McShane and there’s no loss of creativity. Kyle is a far better player than McShane and the signing of Flynn will surely result in a Kyle playing more central. Great result and great to see a bench with some quality who can make an impact.
