  1. I did read a tweet from one of them claiming that he "couldn't take the pressure against Celtic", so suspect you are probably spot on.
  2. Aye, very sad. Degenerative conditions like Parkinson's are grim. Terrible for the person with the condition, but also for family and friends. T here is no doubt that Connolly is a comedy legend. I didn't really take to his cosying up with the establishment set, as it seemed to fly in the face of the Connolly Brand, but that is a side note. I've had some of my best laugh out loud moments watching/listening to him, and he will always be irreplaceable.
  3. The deal for Rodgers was a long time in coming to fruition. I suspect he was a loan deal that the previous manager had looked to set up. As such, I'm not sure that Stubbs will necessary be looking for the first opportunity to start him over Samson.
  4. The currant buns seem to dislike him intensely, so that's a good enough positive reference for me.
  5. Poetry in motion? I take it your mate had been on the bong that morning? Danny Mullen is ready 2/3 of the way to matching his scoring record from last season. Miles better my pimply blue arse!
  6. According to Tam McManus, he was sacked.
  7. That was my guess. We really need some width (MATRON!), and pace, though.
  8. No he isn't. If you had suggested that he was better, I might buy it. I wouldn't want him anywhere near the club.
  9. He was no doubt hacked off at Martindale pulling all the strings, just as he did with Hopkin. Perhaps Hopkin was more willing to be a puppet than Miller is. As for Saints going in for him? That'll be a no from me.
  10. Six numbers? 4-1, 4-0 (I'll leave the rest to your imagination....).
  11. Aye, that's a wee bit spooky. I suppose the difference is that this time we are in the same league (technically, at least), so the level of expectation in terms of competing is inevitably a good bit higher. That said, we know that, realistically, the task ahead is not to try and equal the likes of Aberdeen, as nice as that would be. As your own league within a league thread highlights, our task is to be better than a few of the clubs who are likely to finish in the bottom half come May. This time we have won something, but all that has done is earn us the right to take a step up. That was the easy bit.
  12. A Dons supporter on Twitter was very complimentary about the Saints support (well, those who stuck around at any rate), who were behind the team and singing throughout, despite the pumping. To be honest, I think a fair few see the away days as just that, a wee day oot. A bevvy with some mates and a sing-song at the fitba. For all that, we have to appreciate the effort and expense they put in. They will get fewer rewards for those efforts this season, though. The trick for us, as supporters, this season, will be how we take the knocks. The inevitable setbacks that come in the form of comprehensive doings like yesterday. Everything about the club feels so much different now to the last 20 months or so. I'm even reading some dressing room unrest chat already. I think it is down to Stubbs to pull a rabbit or two out the hat sooner rather than later. It is going to take a lot more than a hardcore of lads and lassies with a drum, some banners, and a few songs, to get us through this season.
  13. FFS. He was great at the UN, that's a real shame
  14. I've been sitting in a terrace bar in Crete drinking G&Ts - did I miss anything?
  15. Aye, could we even consider it marquee? I certainly would. If the McGinn money is to be dipped, this would be one signing that would, on the face of it, warrant the punt. Stewart and the lad Johnston from Celtic would be very welcome indeed.
  16. Would be a very good signing, but I imagine plenty of clubs with a bigger budget than us will be in the frame.
  17. Right, I'm losing track. Who have we got from Manchester United?
  18. I suspect we are being used as a shop window for Big Nic. That's fine, as it will be in everyone's interest that he do well. Loan deals are fine. I reckon Coulson, Willock, and Jones will be very good for us this season.
  19. From the official Southampton website - A centre-back, who is also capable of playing an accomplished role in midfield, Jones won the club’s Young Player of the Year award in 2016 and has since gone on to captain Southampton’s Under-23s side. My emphasis.
  20. Anyone who thinks you're a cock? That would rule out just about everyone then. Even yer maw.
