  1. Paisley went through in the 1990s what Kilmarnock is going though now really. Johnnie Walker, a major town employer shuts, a less than flattering TV programme, a high street in decline, and a big out of town shopping mall opening that is easy to drive to. What Paisley needs is consistent investment in the centre with improvements to the fabric of the buildings and streetscapes. Paisley has too many shops for today- we're never going to fill all the shops- especially when people can keep them shut and not pay little taxes on them. What we need is a clear plan and vision to improve the town centre, increase people living in the town centre and convert some of the buildings to flats- but not just selling them to the buy to let crowd!
  2. I think very few Hibs players are about that have been there for all the managers. There is something wrong at the top level of that club beyond the management team and playing team. Not saying they've all done a good job, but more than just the on the pitch stuff. Butcher made a lot of mistakes at Hibs, both the style of football and going in and saying to players 'You can go find a new club as you're mince and not needed' then having to put them back in the first team for a load of games. There probably are a lot of poor players at Hibs, but we've seen a few players look terrible but improve when they leave Hibs - Wotherspoon looked a lot better in that St Johnstone side. Honestly relegation will be good for Hibs. A fresh start, they can do a clear-out, might win some games, and if Leanne Dempster can sort out the top level of the club then they could come back stronger. Unfortunate year to go down with the Jambos and Sevco in the division though. Kevin Thomson though, for his efforts at St Mirren Park and in the last play-off game
  3. Flight radar 24 pro. It's £1.50 or something, but great fun (well for sad old me) on a clear day.
  4. Looks terrible. Last time I was in the building was for a project back in 2008. Can't say I'm overly surprised that a fire would take hold very quickly and spread in such a building- lot of fuel for it.
  5. I have an app on my phone, you point it at a plane in the sky and it tells you where the plane is heading. I thought that was so cool when I bought it! I did work experience at Glasgow Airport as a kid (suspect most of Paisley did at that time!) and it was great fun- pre 9/11 so security wasn't as tight. I still like the technology and design of planes, but find the experience for an economy passenger these days is getting worse as airlines race to the bottom for cash. I guess it's only a seat for 7-10hrs but it can still be a crap experience depending on airline.
  6. Presume it will be on BBC Alba and RTE. Don't know if the other broadcasters take the final if a team from that county isn't in.
  7. £350k+ Lyle Taylor isn't too bad to be honest. If we get Taylor and a bit more cash might be a good deal. However hard to fill the gap in centre mid if we lose McGinn, McLean, McGowan and Newton this summer.
  8. So Motherwell have paid out too much, not got enough income in and made losses including some big 6 figure ones. No doubt their poor cup record will hurt them too- 1 round of the Scottish- a defeat to Albion and 2 rounds of the league cup- away to Livi and a defeat to 10 man Aberdeen at home. Surprised only 800 folk are paid up members of their fans group- but I don't understand how it operates.
  9. Unlikely. Russia and the US have 'accidentally' downed passenger jets before with little consequence- indeed one of the conspiracy theories is that Lockerbie was a result of the US taking down a passenger jet not long before. I'd say we'd know about that by now. Conspiracy theories always get going over such things. I think we'd have known by now if it was a terrorist incident or if it was hijacked/stolen for whatever reason.Given they lost track of it, it could have crashed anywhere remote over a vast area.
  10. It's a 50/50 split since although the club nominates the venue (which can be their home ground) it is the league that runs the final. Glasgow have 9000 tickets and will not need that many. The remaining briefs go back to Leinster to sell after Friday I think- I don't see any issue in getting a ticket- indeed mine is sorted.
  11. He annoyed me at Saints by not being consistent enough. He looked the same at County- hooked after 45mins in our last game and they improved when the young boy (Cooper?) came on for him.
  12. To be honest McCarthy had folk clamouring for his signature for years and was playing first team at 14. He went for a lot of cash and they got a big whack when he moved to Everton too. As much as I'd love to think we'll get millions for McGinn there was more hype about McCarthy and looking at McArthur (another good player) Wigan paid a lot less for him.
  13. Going to try and get to Dublin for it. Planes are mad prices, but will sort something out without giving Mr O'Leary £350 for a 30min return flight.
  14. Can't see £1m being paid out. Craig Bryson was £350K, James McArthur was £500K, Johnny Russell £750K. You have to put in clauses such as games played, sell-on, international caps to make up the rest.
  15. Deary me, what a shambles we were last night. Killie are terrible yet could have humped us. Wrong team from Danny- should have freshened it up, Wylde deserved a start, Magennis and Teale could have started. Even when the changes were made they were the wrong ones. Newton had been one of the better mids, McGinn was having a really poor game and stayed on too long. Oh and and McGregor and McAusland were a comedy duo. McGregor was pathetic in the first half. Short back passes, passed it straight out of play etc. McAusland struggled with Boyd all night and constantly backed off from challenges.
  16. Look at the treatment the keeper gets! Was that Jim Goodwin in his Celtic days trying to kick him 35 seconds in?
  17. I can't find one tbh, however if you turn RC v Hibs into a draw however I think it is still possible on GD Hearts v Killie- away win Ross County v Hibs - draw Hearts v Partick - away win Killie v St. Mirren - home win Hibs v Killie - home win Partick v Ross County - away win St. Mirren v Hearts - away win I think the table could be: Hibs -39 Killie - 39 Partick - 38 Ross County - 38 St. Mirren - 38 Tell me if my maths is wrong- it's been a long day!

  19. Yes. Black and white pin-stripes on the back
  20. Don't know if it is white back, but I wouldn't think any combination of black and white stripe thickness would matter with red numbers.
  21. I'm kinda confused over the yellow being in the strip being because of JD Sports. Isn't JD's branding black and white with a bit of gold? I thought the yellow came from our badge. In any case personally I don't mind the yellow away strips- better than the pastel blue efforts we've had. I also thought the yellow ones were popular with our support and sold out? The sponsor looks horrible on that strip, however the strip might not look too bad when we have a decent photo of it.
  22. Nah, he'll easily get another Premiership gig- mid-to lower half. He could even get the Celtic job if he didn't want to go to the Championship. If he fancies a gig abroad he could do it too. If anything Man U has raised his profile. I think it was a poisoned chalice, a team on the wane, and Ferguson took them to a title that others couldn't. That's not to forget the shear change in executives that dealt with transfers and coaches. I suspect many managers would have struggled with that team this year. That's not to say he's done a good job in the circumstances, but I think Moyes could be forgiven for much. I agree no chance on Klopp and I would think Simeone too. I actually hope the new man struggles again and maybe makes them think about the speed of managerial change.
  23. Same with the Bull next door. Saints flags but no football colours, but I suspect it really means no Old Firm colours as I've seen all sorts of teams fans in there with no issues.
  24. So we had 2700 odd seats empty in that ground. To be honest looking at the highlights I could believe that as the main stand does not look full, and even the south stand you can still see the pattern though the people. In W3 there were a large number of empty seats from ST holders obviously away for Easter.
