  1. I was doing no more than poking a bit of fun at you and you go off on one. And I take life too seriously? And what causes people to conform? I'm pretty sure Drew can read and he won't miss your post. I think you'll find that Drew shakes his head in wonderment at some of the things you post. Just as I do.
  2. And I think you fail to recognise whether people are laughing at you or with you. I suppose it is normally at you.
  3. I think it's fair to say you hae a right guid conceit o' yersel.
  4. Hasn't happened yet. I think I mentioned that I saw Tim Martin in Bangor looking at the now closed Windsor Bar which used to be my local. And the staff in the Spirit Merchant, Wetherspoons Bar in nearby Newtownards, all said it was definitely happening. Others say that all the other Bangor publicans are doing their damnedest to stop it but I doubt they could do that. I'll be happy if it happens but I know Wetherspoons isn't everybody's cup of tea. Or even pint of lager.
  5. I got 48 points playing Scrabble the other day for the word OAKY. Does that make me a middle class intellectual?
  6. I had lunch in Wetherspoons Tuesday Bell in Lisburn yesterday and read Tim Martin's article about Brexit in the Wetherspoon magazine. A couple of other articles about it are also quoted. It makes interesting reading. Food for thought over a quiet pint. I believe it can be downloaded.
  7. I'm not saying he should be sacked but if the chairman and board think he should be ousted, it's up to them to somehow find the money. Chanting the old 'no money' mantra ad nauseam gets on my goat. I'm like a lot of our fans in that I was cautiously optimistic at the start of the season. Now I fear the worst. We all felt Stewart Gilmour dithered over sacking managers. Gordon Scott might have to watch he isn't seen to be doing likewise. Another couple of bad results and the answer might be that we can't afford to keep Rae.
  8. If I ever take any of my Irish friends to the club and they were expected to have 25ml. measures, there would be a real live Donnybrook.
  9. Are you suggesting that in any profession it's OK for a manager to lambast an employee within earshot of anyone, let alone an audience of football fans? I certainly don't and getting angry is no excuse. If it's true, Rae wants to take a right good look at himself before it's too late. Of course it may be too late already.
  10. Your last two posts are probably the only two I have seen about what moderation is supposed to entail. St.Ricky had been posting for a whole two days when added the Respect post. He only joined the Army on the 29th. of August. None of us gets a rule book when we join and until we get the hang of it we are flying by the seat of our pants. He sounds like a genuine St.Mirren fan and surely he should be cut a bit of slack. Is posting in the wrong thread when you don't know any different all that horrific? I suppose he'll know by now that the B&W Forum isn't for the faint hearted.
  11. Not quite sure what the moderators are meant to do. By that I mean, what do they do? Do they get complaints from individuals then have a word in someone's ear if they think the complaint is valid? Do they simply tell some guys enough is enough, so eff off? Or are you saying nothing ever happens? I only recall a couple of guys getting the boot. I wouldn't do it for a pension but I agree that some guys go way over the top with personal insults and I think some yellow cards could have been waved.
  12. In one of my earliest posts years ago, I posted something similar and got pretty much the same response. If some of our fellow Black and White soldiers had their way, they would make posting on the wrong thread a crime punishable with the death sentence. I have at times gone over the top with angry responses but hope I now don't. Some of the clowns on here should have been banned years ago and some should simply grow up.
  13. Too good to be true. But would it not be terrific?
  14. If you were hung like a bloody great donkey (and I'm not suggesting you're not!) would you still think the same?
  15. I agree with you. He might well be an idiot but he either has a lot of closet fans, or he's taking the piss out of a lot of guys who give him the oxygen he craves. Why don't they all agree to put him on ignore for even a week and see what happens. I wonder who would crack first?

What a cracking thread. Very interesting. I got hooked on Canada when I saw O'Rourke Of The Royal Mounted as a boy. Great movie. Always said I would go to Canada but never have. All this talk gives me the notion to go again. I stayed in The Watermill when I was over for the Morton game and The Hamills were right outside my bedroom. The noise sent me to sleep. The ducks quacked me awake in the morning and I watched a heron fishing right at the top. Very picturesque. One of the few threads where never was posted a discouraging word.
  17. Tell us your age and then we can all decide whether we're surprised or not.
  18. Depends on your definition of terminal decline. If you mean that eventually there will be no Christians left in the UK, I bet you're wrong. If you mean that the churches will become smaller and have smaller congregations, quite possibly you're correct. Not like a rocket scientist to be so vague. Watch what you put in your test tubes.
  19. I kind of understand your feeling that it's an obscenity but it's a difficult one to pass judgment on. If you were head of a family which had built up a £8.3bn. over the centuries, as far as we know honestly, would you be willing to give away billions to salve your conscience or whatever? Remember, too, the bulk of his money by a long way is tied up in real estate. He will have paid a lot of tax in his lifetime and I doubt very much that his estate will totally avoid inheritance tax. He popped his clogs a bit young to have a lot sorted out in terms of tax avoidance. And at what level does obscene begin? And who decides that figure?
  20. Was at the match and was impressed with Ryan. A big, fast lad who moves beautifully. Smoothly with no apparent effort. If he can keep his feet on the ground he could have a great career ahead of him. Just wish he could get his ass out of Ibrox permanently.
  21. Going to say a couple of things about the late Dook. 1 He was born in dear old Ulster. 2 He couldnae help being born with a gold spoon crammed doon his throat. 3 He employed a helluva lot of people. 4 His Auntie Anne owned Arkle, the most beautiful racehorse ever to lift hoof. He was named after a Scottish mountain. 5 His mother was killed outside Dungannon driving her Jag at allegedly over 100 mph. at the age of 74. 6 RIP.
  22. Coming over for this match. My first for a while. Staying in the Watermill tomorrow and Saturday. Looking forward to it and expect a win. I have only been at a handful of games at the new ground but have never felt any atmosphere. Hope this is a bit better.
  23. As you might have noticed I don't have anything to say about this matter. Admin mistakes are a part of life. Seeing as I'm on, though, I was down our local newsagent an hour or so back and we were chatting about football. I casually dropped into the conversation that I had become a part owner of a Scottish club. He seemed awfy surprised and asked me how much I owned. When I told him I reckoned it was about 0.001% he seemed a bit underwhelmed. I don't have a clue if that figure is a gross exaggeration or miles under.
  24. I think it takes a bit of spunk to use a word like 'allcomers'. Nice one, Shull.
