  1. Going by media reports it seems John McGinn and Kenny McLean will be getting their first call ups to the Scotland squad today.
  2. I don't think she is a cheat because from what I have read it isn't a performance enhancing drug. I think she is daft/badly advised because she was given the information about banned substances but she supposedly didn't even read the email, nor did her team.
  3. There's a difference between Agnew and Goody, for a start Jim has just came back from a serious injury and he is about 7 years older? Look what happened when Thommo was rushed back too soon. No chance of there being any sort of conspiracy keeping Goodwin out the team. Alex would be the biggest hypocrite going if he didn't fancy Jim as a player because he was exactly the same in his day.
  4. I think there is a difference between fit and match fit. Normally takes players 4-6 weeks playing a good 60-75 mins per week to get the match fitness up. Could take older guys longer. He has hardly kicked a ball in 4 months, would be crazy to throw him right back into it when there hasn't been any real need. I see he has started for the Under 20s against Celtic tonight, along with Naismith.
  5. Yeah that's the flip side of it. Maybe he feels he gives the place a lift having him around. Maybe strikes fear into the opposition knowing he's lurking ha, although that didn't help yesterday.
  6. The manager said on the radio during the week that he is giving Jim extra time to recover because he believes he is a bit older it takes longer for him to recover. He said it's also probably a bit early for Jim even being on the bench.
  7. But if he's not fit enough he's not fit enough. What if he was rushed back and has a reaction putting him out for the rest of the season? It could be argued why is he even on the bench if he isn't fit enough. We have to trust the manager, which is a hard thing for us to do admittedly.
  8. From what Alex said on the radio during the week, Goody is in the match day squads earlier than the manager would like, he's not fit basically. Not much point rushing him back unless Livingston drag us into a spot of bother.
  9. Pretty sure he took a kicking near about the time we won the league. I vaguely remember him in Suburbia with the rest of the team and he had a few cuts n bruises.
  10. I have no doubts about his eye for a player. He obviously has decent contacts in the game going by his January signings. I'm actually excited to see Alex build his own squad.
  11. The same guy who knocked us back at least 3 times as a player I'm sure.
  12. To be fair to Gary Irvine he worked his backside off chasing O'Hallaran for 90 mins, who was the best player on the park by miles. Rangers have scored late goals this season by battering teams down physically and mentally. I have no doubt if that was in the first half Irvine would have punted it up the line or even in the stand. Even at that it was a stunning finish, much harder to score than the few chances Miller squandered.
  13. Definitely but even then I'd be passing the buck (literally) to someone else!
  14. It's coming to that time of year again when the 2 cheeks of the same arse need to think about punting next season's season tickets. How many times do Atlantic leagues and 'oh here's a great idea lets try and go down to England', come up at this time of year? Pathetic and the worrying thing for them is less and less knuckle draggers are swallowing their nonsense. The only team that has missed Rangers over the last few years is Celtic, proving what we all knew and they now realise more than ever is they need each other more than the rest of Scottish football needs them. They are a cancer on our game, sadly the English know they aren't worth the hassle they'd bring to the table down there. Anyway apologies for the rant, back on topic. If I won £50,000,000 from the lottery I really doubt I would buy this club because of the flack I'd get. Fair play to any Saints fans/group that are willing to paint a target on their back for the good of the club.
  15. There have been 36 league meetings between the two teams at Palmerston with Queens winning 14, Saints 12 and 10 draws. It has actually been 8 league games since Queens scored against St Mirren, the last time was in a 2-2 draw in Paisley in November 2004 with Queens last victory against us coming in the previous month which was a 2-1 victory in Palmerston. We don't normally have decent records like this against teams and I expect a home win now I have mentioned it .
  16. Totally agree, I doubt we would have got 4 points from they games if Murray was still in charge so fair play to Alex for that. The next 3 games will show how far we have come.
  17. We won our last 2 First Division titles with a direct style of play. Every fan in the world would love to see their team play the Barca/Bayern way but we just don't have the players to do it. How many mistakes have our centre backs made over the years in trying to play like Pique? Fair play to Danny Lennon because he tried to stick with it and when it worked it was spectacular but 9 times out of 10 it didn't come off and we were turgid anyway. All teams needed to do was press very high up the pitch, force our defender into a mistake and score from the resulting chance or set piece. On the slim chance that we'd cut through them with 2/3 passes ( like the goal at Ibrox ) it looks spectacular. I am not getting too excited about Alex Rae yet because we have only beat Alloa and Morton but it's looking more positive than it was when he first took over. Next few games will define our season.
  18. Scott Brown, Charlie Adam, Steven Fletcher, Steven Whittaker, Craig Gordon, Aiden McGeady (spit), Ryan Gauld, Andrew Robertson, Steven Naismith, Ross McCormack, just to add a few more.
  19. In the head to head Saints have 33 league wins, QotS have 21 and there has been 16 draws. We have won 21 of them in Paisley, 6 draws and 7 away wins for Queens. My favourite one was when we last met in the league in Paisley where Charlie Adam scored a late winner whilst at the same time in Dingwall St Johnstone's keeper scored a last minute equaliser thus creating a 4 point swing and placing one hand on the title. We have a decent league record against Queens of late, I make it 8 games unbeaten?
  20. He used to live a few miles from where I stay, he'd come in to the wee boozer and buy the old guys a pint and chatted with them. Met him a couple of times myself, he's one of the biggest bluenoses going but I can't say a bad word about him. The abuse he received off his own was disgraceful, multiply the abuse McAusland got off us by 1,000,000 and you still wouldn't come close. Even if he has just popped in to help Alex out for a day or whatever, he will have raised the morale of the players without doubt.
  21. If James Forrest can "make it" there's hope for them all!
  22. It's easy to forget he's only 19. He has the skill and pace and has plenty of time to work on his final ball, probably not Celtic material though but the odds are stacked against young Scots making it there after coming through the youth system.
  23. Fair play to the keeper, made a vital save at 1-0 and was a calming influence in claiming crosses. Kicking was decent today too! Personally I think he has gained us more points than he has lost us.
  24. From what I remember he wasn't too mobile when I seen him in person. He is a proper moaner though , moans at everything and has scored goals in his career. Will bring experience and hopefully help out Shankland. Could this mean the end for Thommo? . Wish David all the best.
