  1. Scaremongering is perhaps a bit strong, but I don't think the entire picture is being looked at here. IF Sky pull out 100%, and everything you say comes to pass, many other clubs out with ourselves are in a far more perilous situation than we are and will die a long time before us, Div. The doomsday scenario that has been written up by yourself only includes the consequences for SMFC. If Sky do walk away, what goes on at other clubs around us is a massive issue which doesn't seem to have been fully expressed in your scenario. This isn't as cut and dried as Sky pulling out of the deal and leaving Scottish football faltering and dying without them. This simply will not happen, regardless of saying that we don't know that. I'd be happy to back with everything I own that there will be a deal of some sort on the table next term from sky.
  2. No to NewCo in the SPL in any way shape or form. No to NewCo in SFL 1 in any way shape or form. No to NewCo in SFL 3 without allowing other clubs who have been trying for several years the chance to reapply. Yes to CiC, but no to being scaremongered by some sections of said CiC into believing that we need NewCo around to survive.
  3. Rangers could shite gold bullions and in turn, donate them to every other SPL club's coffers. The popular vote amongst the fans will still be a resounding 'No to Newco'.
  4. I'm sorry Div, but to say that 'the cold hard facts' are that we'd be in administration within months without Sky's money, is frankly scandalous, and IMO without solid grounding. Stewart Gilmour and the current BOD (assuming of course the CiC isn't accepted) are shrewd operators on this level. They have operated under tight budgets and circumstances before. They will again. If the doomsday scenario which you preach comes to pass, then it wont just hurt us, it will hurt the whole of Scottish football in the short term, therefore no-one will be left behind. We are in a pretty good place in that our financial situation is a lot better then 95% of Scottish clubs. I think every single Saint and fan of every club in this nation has accepted that an SPL without Rangers and full Sky money will hurt to a degree financially in the short term, but long term will allow for important issues to be raised. League reconstruction, a potential pyramid system, the removal of a draconian 11-1 voting process which has allowed the former OF to have a stranglehold over our country's game financially as well as politically for decades. Regardless of what happens from here on out, the face of the sport in this country has been altered permanently. It's now a straight up choice: Accept them back in, keep the Sky cash cow milking financially for a horribly disproportionate cut of the cake and allow the status quo to play out until the end of time, always accepting that no matter how bad the crime, no matter how badly sporting integrity has been mistreated, no matter how much disdain we are held in.....we'll always accept them back like a downtrodden beaten spouse who is told so often 'you can't live without me' that they have had it ingrained into their psyche and genuinely believe it. Allow for the continuation of the 11-1 vote which will see every other club in this country without a leg to stand on forever. or Vote no. Maintain our integrity and our pride. Refuse to accept that we're doomed without one club in our midst and that Sky TV has become the be all and end all of football clubs in this nation in the short space of 3 years. Put the power to change our sport for the better in the long term directly into the hands of EVERY club in the country. Cut our cloth to suit and allow every other side in the SPL to find it's feet again, promote exciting young talent in various squads on lesser wages rather than league one journeymen who want exploit Scottish football as the cash cow it is. Bring more teams into a league that is now free of the shackles of Sky's demands for four Old Firm games a season which has been contractually agreed at the expense of making a league so dull and turgid that we've become also rans, outcast in our own national league. This isn't about revenge. It isn't even about putting the boot into Zombie Rangers for the sake of it (although it's fun) as we know they'll be back in some guise sooner or later. It's also not about money. It's about giving every team in the SPL and indeed Scottish football, a fair crack at the whip. A better chance to build from the grassroots up. With Rangers or their Zombie incarnation in the SPL that will never happen. Therefore, an emphatic No to NewCo, no to Scaremongering, yes to sporting integrity. Long live the Saints. Long live Scottish football.
  5. I'm in. It's not perfect by any means, but I want SMFC to still be around long after I'm gone.
  6. Plenty of Personal Bests confirmed tonight. Highest SPL finish.....check Highest Points total.....check Most goals scored in an SPL season......check Least SPL Defeats.....check Most SPL clean sheets.....check All achieved this season. Anyone still want to argue that we aren't progressing in the correct manner? Anyone?
  7. The Mehmet's shirt photo in the video is just so, so sad.
  8. Is that McGinn not the grandson of a former c*ltic chairman. I'm sure I heard something like that once before.
  9. Mick McCarthy confirms Leigh Griffiths can leave Wolves. Colin Calderwood was keen to keep him but by McCarthy's admission, he's not sure about Fenlon. He said there are a few Scottish clubs hovering though and he'd maybe even be willing to flog him for no transfer fee but a sell-on percentage.
  10. A player we should never have let go. He was always dangerous in the very few opportunities he was given with us.
  11. Colin Nish signs for Hartlepool. A player, along with Daryl Duffy, I'd have taken for the final striker position that Danny was talking about filling. Duffy still available though.
  12. I had no idea that Massone and his crew who operated Livi a few years back were interested in taking control of St. Mirren. An absolute shyster of the highest order. Run the club for purely personal gain, vowed to make Livi the 3rd force in Scotland and instead, left them ruined and a 3rd division side. A lesser BOD would have entertained the witterings of these clowns.
  13. I'm away on holiday tomorrow, but I'll certainly post mine when I get back in a weeks time!
  14. I only met Derek once, but knew his face from away days as he was a true regular. He and his 2 of his usual pals from the photo 4 posts up came into a pub just outside Tynecastle at the start of last season, they recognised me as another regular travelling Buddie sitting in a pub full of Jambos (was in with a couple of Hearts supporting friends) and they came over and we stood and had a beer and waxed lyrical for a half hour. Can't remember much of what was said, but one of the first things he asked me was 'are you on B&W army?' then 'who are you on it?'. It was good to finally put a face to the name on all accounts and they were soon on their way. As I say, I didn't know him too well apart from that he was a good poster and in the short time I spoke to him, seemed like a very decent guy. Thoughts are with his family.
  15. FFS. A pair of seasoned posters like you two caught out. Mytur Bensdurty......say it fast.
  16. The article in today's Daily Record certainly raised a few eyebrows, not least from myself. In retrospect, whilst it may have worked out and he could have quite possibly been a superb and astute signing for us, many of the fans on here may just have something when they suggest that we've had an escape. The whole facade seems to suggest that if we did in fact sign him today, we'd have been signing a talented player who would have went about his business in a half-arsed fashion as he didn't really want to be involved in Scottish football unless it was with his 'boyhood heroes' I bore on ill-will to Ian Harte before (apart from the fact he played for Leeds), and I still bear him no ill-will, if he felt he could do better or wants to stay in England, that's his prerogative and who are we to judge? I just wish that we weren't the club his scumbag of an agent decided to use as a stepping stone to negotiations with other clubs. A footballer will always seek to play at the highest level possible which is fair enough, but agents are a different beast altogether, they will seek that 15% - 20% commision by any means neccesary and this is what f**ks up the regular punter. Willie MacKay should never be allowed to have any dealings with St. Mirren FC again, Stewart Gilmour, the Board of Directors and the management team at St. Mirren should see to this.
  17. Does that justify it enough for you? Fúcking half-wit boo boy.
  18. Never met him, but from the comments on this thread he seemed to be a good family man and a passionate St. Mirren man. RIP Buddie.
  19. 1. Pished as a cvnt 2. Oot ma tree 3. Grim Fandangoed 4. Steamin' the boats 5. Ricky the Dragon Steamboats (same kinda thing as number 4)
