  1. Ha ha. I'd rather get to a few league games antrin it's only these games are falling on international weekends and dont clash with Newcastle games. After all how could I resist a trip to glamorous Coatbridge on a free weekend?
  2. Travel could be tricky here. 1st train from Newcastle doesn't get to Glasgow until 11.50am. There's a megabus at stupid o'clock (04:05) which gets to Glasgow at 08:25. Wouldn't mind hanging around for a few hours pre-match but if i remember rightly you can't get a pint before midday. is that still the case?
  3. Think i'll go to this with it being another poxy international weekend and no NUFC game. Will keep up my ever present attendance record in the challenge cup, (the only free weekends i've had.) I'm a bit nervous of the timing of the game however and any anti English feeling/jibes after the England v Scotland game the previous night, which is a shame as i couldn't care less about England or international football. Think i'll risk it though.
  4. Next round due when we should play QOTS in Dumfries i think.
  5. Scotland squads announced. Mcginn in, cummings excluded from u21s. Where does that leave us regards hibs game going ahead? It's only next week. Pleased I haven't paid for trains to get there.
  6. Something positive the fans can be involved in at least after the kit launch failure.
  7. What do folk reckon the chances are of an altered KO time for the Hibs game? On Alba maybe? Cautious about booking trains. I read that the 17:15 Sat slot is pencilled in by S4C which i think is a Welsh channel so would be Bala town/New Saints i suppose. Oh, and Saints are on Alba the week before v Falkirk, while hibs are live on Sky the same weekend.
  8. Well done the youngsters. Let's pray this offers some hope for the future.
  9. For me down here in Newcastle they'd always stood out as the team in black and white stripes on the last page of my Pannini sticker albums at school. Then one xmas during a short stay in Bridge of Weir i actually got to see them play. Loved the way the so called underdogs could take on and match the OF, as well as Aberdeen and Dundee Utd who were strong sides back then in 1983. It feels special to be a saints fan.
  10. Questioning my sanity, again. I'm off work, there's no clash with a toon game, a new ground/shack to visit so i'm going. Although i'm sure i read they intend to move. I hate these international weekends. Don't really want anything to do with this competition because of all this 'colts' s**te, but it is a rare chance to get to a saints game.
  11. Competition, of sorts anyway, to Paisley in 2021: http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/whats-on/arts-culture-news/can-sunderland-become-hotbed-uk-11824945
  12. Shocked and saddened to hear about Tam. Didn't know him closely but he was a familiar face at saints games. Remember him from the days of the 'Hole in the Wa' and from the North End trips to Whitley bay. So sad. condolences to his family. RIP Tam.
  13. Simply not true. Steven Taylor's a geordie and so was John Carver. Though their hearts are/were in the right place, they are/were crap and get the stick that goes with it. Are Everton fans too demanding for wanting Martinez out? They've never been in any real danger this season and reached the FA cup semi. Arsenal qualify for the champions league every year and have won the FA cup the last two years running yet they call for Wengers head. Part of it with Newcastle is that from 1994 for a decade we regularly qualified for europe and had a lot of near misses finishing runners up in the league and cup. That obviously built up expectations. Now all we ask is to be able to compete and not continually struggle or merely exist. Though fans of some clubs are perfectly happy with that of course.
  14. Stuart, i said i wouldn't comment further but feel compelled to point out that in my opinion you've got a few things wrong. You say we want a team of geordies. Les Ferdinand, Malcolm Macdonald, to name but two were from nowhere near Newcastle but loved in their time here. Doesn't matter if they're from Mars as long as they give 100%. The fans actually loved Chris Hughton too. It was a major surprise when he got sacked and he was by no means hounded out. Yes, a handful of fans gathered at the entrance of St James' when Andy Cole was sold but were soon pacified when Keegan met them and said he knew what he was doing. That proved to be the case when Les Ferdinand was brought in. Not Shearer who in fact signed 18 months later to a fantastic welcome and not the protests you talk about. Last night you were revelling in telling me how long it's been since Newcastle won anything but now we've got outrageously demanding fans. 61 years without a domestic trophy and 47 years since winning the fairs cup, yet we're too demanding?
  15. You 'Believe' SAFC have won more league titles than Newcastle? If you were a fan and not just a WUM you would know. Trounce Leeds? 1-0. Great shock result but hardly a trouncing. We belong in the championship? I can remember when you were in the 3rd division. What a weekend that was when Saints won the 87 cup and Gillingham relegated your lot to the 3rd tier the next day . As i say, you might be better going easy on the mockery because your time will come. The turd will one day flush away at last. No further comment other than:
  16. As usual your lot can't see beyond getting one over on Newcastle. Ask any SAFC fan for their greatest footballing memory and i bet it would involve a Newcastle downfall of some sort. Mine would involve Beating Barcelona and Juventus in the champions league and trips around Europe. Don't like Allardyce but i agree with him when he said your club needs to get away from laps of honour for merely staying in the division year after year. You can't keep scrapping to avoid the drop annually. It'll catch up with you sooner or later. Just remember when you're trying to take the p*ss. Things in football can change and quite quickly. I mean i've had many years laughing at your lot and now the shoes on the other foot. That's football but 'he who laughs last' and all that.
  17. All man uniteds' fault for not getting there early according to Sullivan. What a clown. Quite like West Ham. Generally supported by the local community and not your glory hunters like Chelsea and Arsenal. Some of their fans let them down badly at times though. Their Boleyn farewell will probably be remembered for the trouble as much as the game and occasion. I went to a pre season tournament at Schalke with Newcastle a couple of years back and West Ham were there too. We were playing Malaga and their game followed ours. We were just watching the game when there was a commotion and the West Ham fans had walked through the stadium concourse into our end to cause bother, obviously catching everyone by surprise as all eyes were on the game.
  18. One of the cast, Arabella Weir ("Does my bum look big in this" from the fast show) was on the lottery programme Saturday night. I wasn't paying much attention but when asked about "2 doors down" i heard Paisley mentioned. What's the link? Supposedly set in Paisley/filmed in Paisley. Curious. Yet to watch it but recorded it so will reserve judgement on it.
  19. Saints official site saying tickets are £20 adult, £15 concessions. Livingston site says only Cat' A games v rangers and hibs are those prices, otherwise it's £15/£12. Some mistake on Saints part i wonder? If not, why are we being charged more?
  20. I can see why they've continued to play him. Because he is innocent until proven otherwise and they needed him. It's just that football is very different to other walks of life when it comes to these cases. All I'm saying is that I think most employees in 'real life' wouldn't be able to continue in their employment even if they were under investigation. As for the case itself, having heard some of the details today I hope they've got him bang to rights. A very devious character by the sounds of it.
  21. Quite the contrary. Because i live in the area and see numerous local tv news prog's, and admittedly because of our rivalry i have followed things closely. We disagree but don't be so sure i'm wrong. These are serious allegations and i stick by my opinion that most would be suspended pending the outcome. Being on bail doesn't mean he hasn't done it either. Just that he waits longer for his case to be heard. SAFC have thought, he's possibly been a bad lad but he's a half decent player and we need him. They've also thought that technically he's innocent until it goes to court so we might as well play him.
  22. Ironic you talk shite in that post. They've only sacked him because his admission has left them no alternative. He's played football under false pretences for about a year. As i say, it's the norm for employers to suspend a staff member in regard of such allegations but not at squeaky clean Sunderland it seems.
  23. I smell a wind up here but fair play? Sunderlands desperation won over morality. I think most employers would suspend an employer charged with similar offences.
  24. Unfortunately he's deceived his club into believing there's no reason why he shouldn't play. Innocent until proven guilty and all that. Should be sacked for lying to his bosses all this time.
