faraway saint
Wee Emma Raducanu out again. Looking like she's slotted into the British womens standard of getting turfed out in round 1 or 2. A one hit wonder? Murray through to round two, although next up is Medvedev, got to put up a decent performance, unlikely he can win, although it is only the best of three sets. As suspected Murray beaten by Medvedev but not disgraced. Probably as good as could have done. Coming up, the entertaining Kyrgios v Fognini, this'll be a decent watch. First set 6-2 to Kyrgios, all too easy, Fognini looks as though he can't figure Kyrgios out, almost a beaten man at this stage.

Second set, and match, 6-4 to Kyrgios, much better from Fognini but the Australian just edged. Not as many fireworks as expected, bring on round 4. faraway saint
Wee Emma hits a slight return on decent form, reaching the quarter finals of a tournament in Germany. Been a difficult, and very poor, period since the US Open. Can she have the kind of success she had back then, not a lot to suggest she can IMO. faraway saint
Boris Becker could be having a wee holiday in a HMPS as he's due to be sentenced today for telling fibs about his finances. What a diddy.

What a diddy. Two and a half years, not a jot of sympathy, pretty stupid, which I did think when he was doing his punditry. What an absolute diddy. Former Wimbledon champion Boris Becker has been jailed for two and a half years for hiding £2.5m worth of assets and loans to avoid paying debts. The 54-year-old six-time Grand Slam champion was found guilty of four charges under the Insolvency Act. The case centred on Becker's bankruptcy in June 2017 resulting from an unpaid loan of more than £3m on his luxury estate in Mallorca, Spain. Judge Deborah Taylor said he had shown no remorse or acceptance of guilt. Referring to Becker's previous conviction for tax evasion in Germany in 2002, she told Becker: "You did not heed the warning you were given and the chance you were given by the suspended sentence and that is a significant aggravating factor... "You have... sought to distance yourself from your offending and your bankruptcy. "While I accept your humiliation as part of the proceedings, there has been no humility." StanleySaint
There comes a time when the arrogance that helped you win as an athlete needs to be consigned to the locker when you retire, sadly Boris continued to believe his arrogance is warranted and now he is rightly paying the price for it, the man is clearly a fool and now likely unemployable when he gets out. No remorse, no contrition = no sympathy.

faraway saint
The latest, and this boy looks the real deal, Alcaraz, currently handing out a hammering to the world No 3. Been catching a few of this boys, he's only 19, matches over the last couple of months, he's something else. On the way to todays final he defeated Nadal and Djokovic, not many can say that. Currently he's 6-3, 2-1 and serving.

faraway saint
Murray enjoying a good week at a grass tournament in Germany, beating a top 5 player yesterday in straight sets. A game today, semi final, against the enigma that is Krygios, a cracking game in prospect. Kicks off at 2:00 pm today. I also noticed the biggest flop in years, wee Emma, continues to enjoy the limelight without winning hardly any games.
faraway saint
Murray, after a tight first set, easily despatched Krygios, so has a final today against the 2md seed Berrettini, the world number 10. Scheduled to kick off at 2:00pm. Even better for mens British tennis wee Dan Evans is in the final of another grass tournament in Nottingham. Early break for the Italian, he's a big hitter, Murray having to work hard to even get close to the ball. 1-2, Italian to serve.
