Step Counter

I've had a step counter, Fitbit, for over 6 years and the majority of days I'm over the recommended 10,000 steps.

When I was in Saudi I was averaging around 16,000 - 18,000, now that's dropped to just over the 10,000 as the weekends are, generally, less than that number.

Just seen a news item that it's not just the number of steps but the speed you walk that's important.

Still, plenty of benefits hitting the 10,000 mark every day.  :thumbs2

At home, the advantage of having a dog that needs taken out.

In Saudi, the advantage of the nearest illegal drinking den being some distance away. [emoji16]

Dog walking, in general, is Mrs Faraways daily task.

In Saudi, working in a massive training college with 12 Saudi students to supervise took care of the daily step target and additional sporting activities in the compound after work.

Just so you know, there's nothing "magic" about the 10,000 number, it was a marketing gimmick by a Japanese company back in the 60s that just seems to have stuck.

This is magic...................................or a gimmick, still better than sitting on a chair all day.

PS 11,040 steps so far today, add another 15-20 heading off to bed soon.

  • Walking can help prevent weight gain and obesity as well as chronic illnesses, new research suggests.

  • At least 8,200 steps per day has been linked to lower risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, and depression.

  • 11,000 steps per day can prevent people with overweight from developing obesity, the study found.

Over 7,600 so far.

I can see this dropping a bit next week, lying in the sunshine will reduce my weekly average.

Ironically , we were on holiday last week and my average went up to 15500 From about 11000 daily . Mind you , most of those were probably steps to the bar n back . 🍾🍹🍻

I'm assuming, like some Wetherspoons pubs, that the toilet is a long way from the bar?

We have a bar in Arbroath, The Townhouse, which is like that.

Better going to another pub for a pish.

I'm sure there's a joke in there but it's lost on me.
