Howard Hughes in BlueSuedeShoes
To paraphrase Bob Geldof, "The Clash were like The Bay City Rollers. I didn't believe in them, but I believed utterly in The Pistols". Funnily enough, John Lydon speaks very highly of the great Canadian and, lest we forget, My My Hey Hey makes reference to the young (at the time) punk upstart. Think I'll go along with that rather than a band of hypocrites who wouldn't go on Top Of The Pops as a protest against commerciality then let a song of theirs be used in a jeans advert...... simon templar
This thread shouldn't be about who is better between The Clash and Neil Young. It's about Neil Young. And his music's as boring as f**k.

chingford
Stumbled over this Neil Young reference in my wanders through the www. Well my heart's in the Highlands wherever I roamThat's where I'll be when I get called home The wind, it whispers to the buckeyed trees in rhyme Well my heart's in the Highland, I can only get there one step at a time. I'm listening to Neil Young, I gotta turn up the sound Someone's always yelling turn it down Feel like I'm drifting Drifting from scene the scene I'm wondering what in the devil could it all possibly mean? It's a Bob Dylan song... It looks like a HUGE long song, and - having heard a clip - it would seem very LOOONG to listen to. If you've nothing better to do this dull Sunday. It's HERE. Apparently chosen by Billy Connelly as a tune for his Desert Island. And before I posted this, not a lot of people knew that. Has anyone read the biography called Shakey? Well worth buying. A bit of an odd ball good old Neil.... I like the Clash... a lot... not keen on the Pistols always felt they were more like the Bay City Rollers and as for the Boomtown Rats they were more like Mud... What about the Darkness? feckin s***e I reckon, another record company plastic band.... Their 15 Minutes of fame is nearly over .... Now a real rock n' roll hero is playing at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen on 6th March.. Elvis Pressley original guitar player Scotty Moore... not often you get a chance to see someone like that play I reckon... Cheers
