Yip, my Aberdeen mates told me when he came to us he really needed strong  support as he was quite easily sidetracked. Whether that's still the case as his career has went from strength to strength I couldn't say. Lots of players (and people) respond in different ways, a verbal cuddle or a verbal boot in the arse.

He's on record that his unsuccessful second spell with us was all down to him - no interest, weight gain and general disinterest in the game.  Almost an apology, a rare thing these days.
