  2. Just watched the JR after match interview Fantastic gesture from the players and staff who recognise the great work done by the fans and the W7 crew. I'm a W4 man myself but I have to agree with Jack these guys make away games so much more atmospheric. Can't wait for our little trip down south to Dumfries. Always a great day out. Well done to the players and staff for supporting the fans.
  3. Heading back from NB. Great day out and a happy bud. In the past I have been Mullen's no 1 critic but I will concede today Danny did something and I don't grudge his MOM award. Good to see we coped without Morgan. We won't have him next season. All round good performance and cracking result. See you all in Dumfries next week for More of the same.
  4. He night have noticed the saints badge on my hat or the black and white stripes on my shirt. The steward or trolley dude who supplied my black coffee on the Glasgow train was also a bud. He was telling me he has hospitality booked for the Livingston match. Seems the world is a much nicer place when you wear a St Mirren bonnet........ ..
  5. It's absolutely chuckin it down in NB. Hope the sun is shining in Paisley. When the train Driver saw my saints scarf, he went out his way to give me abuse and declare his allegiance to the pars. Absolutely first class customer interaction
  6. I will also Raleigh In defence of IOBS. As part of my job I spent more time on Diversity Courses so that we could all be educated not to do an Alan Hanson, than I did training for any other aspect of the job. Most of it was irrelevant because the "Sectarianism "chapter was always missed out in Scottish courses for some reason. Diversity Training started back in the 80's and "coloured " was an acceptable term whilst "Black" was debatable. In those early days I think the idea was to stop the general populist terminology which regularly included the "N" word and many other routine phrases of the day which did nothing to engender multicultural relations and "coloured" was a lesser acceptable evil.. As time progressed "Coloured" got questioned and became unacceptable. "Black" came into common use, if referring to people. "Black" However was not considered fashionable if used to describe anything else. No black sheep, black Boards, black outs or black adjectives which gave a noun a negative aspect were to be used. Recently the waters have got a bit more muddier. (There may be an issue with describing water as muddy but I think that's still OK) South African natives of mixed black races now refer to themselves as "coloured". This does not just refer to mixed as in black and white but also in terms of mixed black cultures too. Recently a "coloured "athlete won a gold in the Olympics and the term "Coloured" was splashed all over the BBC and media when they were describing the Athletes appearance. So if you don't know their cultural back ground calling them Black (which can be perceived by them as racist) would be enough to offend them. So Folks Diversity is not all Black and White and because of this latest development in the diversity minefield, IOBS may well have been right to call said player "Coloured" if he was of South African mixed black race because calling him Black may have been perceived by the player to be racist. Hope that clears things up.
  7. That is sort of my Point but essentially who is SMISA. We are all SMISA Members whilst paying our subscriptions but we only pay till the club is bought. There is no framework for paying beyond that. so who then will be the voting members?
  8. Oops! My intention was never really to start a "Morgan is Rank" theme but hey Ho!, this is football social media, I should have known better. Morgan has been great for the team and has played a massive part in getting us where we are. "LEWIS, LEWIS" I was just wondering why Reilly always gets substituted when his replacement doesn't generate any improvement and other options are available but every week Reilly gets taken off. It's hardly surprising his confidence and scoring rate have suffered as a result. Oops I'll be targeted as 'A Jack must go' supporter now as I was curious about his thinking behind the Reilly strategy but Hey Ho this is a football Forum I should know better. "JACK ROSS BLACK AND WHITE ARMY" Now I've got that out the road. Anyone any thoughts on the Reilly Strategy. I reckon He could still hit 30 goals with the right support. Could that be Hippolyte?
  9. I was there. Fecking awesome goal. I thought my dodgey memory might have distorted it into something better than it actually was but that's as good as it gets. Feck did Beckett have that much hair. My memory is going.
  10. As a SMISA member this is my biggest concern. If we contribute for 10 years, Gordon gets his cash and walks away then SMISA (which most of us will no longer be part of because they don't take our money any more) Sell out. That would be more than a little Shady.
  11. I don't get why this option is not on the table. Offer a few token shares which are valid as long as subscriptions are being paid and I'm sure all SMISA members would continue to subscribe in the knowledge they really do have a stake in their team.
  12. Who's at the match to update the forum. Will it be on Periscope, SaintsTV or the Radio. Are Tickets available. Feck I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms. Roll on Saturday.
  13. I agree. What goes on in training must play a big part in JR's thinking. We only see the end product and to be honest it not too bad. I just wonder why Reilly goes off to be replaced by Mullen when Morgan has been rank the last few weeks but then again as someone suggested maybe football management isn't my calling
  14. Apparently the greatest General ever born lived through a period of History with unprecedented peace and never got the chance to prove himself. I might be the greatest ever football manger who never managed a team. Then again every one on here thinks that. But still, You never know...........
  15. In the Jack tacks tactics vid, which is on another thread, he openly encourages his players to shoot whenever they get around 17-18 yds from goal. In the last few matches it has been Jack who has been consolidating leads with defensive substitutions. Reilly's confidence may have been affected by the fact he substituted EVERY week by a guy who doesn't look like he could lace his boots. I'm a 100% behind Jack and he can substitute who he likes. It's his job. That aside. I would say give Gavin a full 90 minutes with Hyppolite alongside him.
  16. No probs. I get in just before 1pm. Hitting Wetherspoons for lunch then off to the Eagles Nest for a pre-match pint or two. Last time we stopped for a beer in town before hitting the Eagle and by the time we got there we couldn't get in because it was full of singing, dancing, drumming Buds. The bouncers were manning the doors to prevent overcrowding but I think they were too late. The three pubs next door were all good and we had a bit of banter with the Queens fans. You're right it's always a good day out.
  17. If your getting the 1022 from Newcastle, I should see you at Carlisle for the 1220 to Dumfries and maybe a beer too!
  18. There's a deal on scotrail Club 50 just now. £17 return anywhere in Scotland. It expires 23 march but I've already purchased my train tickets for this one and saved a fortune. (Unless of course it snows or the game gets rearranged)
  19. As far as I am aware absolutely nothing is place. There is no obligation or plans as far as I know for SMISA members to keep paying their contributions. Its going to take a lot more than two pounds a week to keep the club going and the rest of the money is being used to buy shares not run the club. At the moment the club pays for that obviously. Once the shares are bought individual SMISA members have no obligation to keep paying and there is no framework in place for them to keep doing so.. They as individuals also have no stake in the club. It seems strange to have a plan for buying the club but no plans on what to do with it, once it's bought. Not sure what the books are like but by the way they couldn't pay the bills for USH or loan players, sports scientists etc, the surplus from income over expenditure doesn't look that good and without the extra SMISA subscriptions which cease after the shares are bought life might be difficult. That was the position last time I enquired but hopefully things have moved on since last year and an ownership plan is in some stage of development.
  20. He found out the game was off. So he's looking for the dancing. Any idea where the Snow-Ball is.
  21. No game to go to today so I built myself a snow Bud
  22. It wasn't a great game in fact it was dire but the St Mirren V Kilmarnock game on the 6th of December 1975 sticks in my memory for the events on the terracing. In those days there were no segregation fences. Alcohol in cans and bottles was part of every football fans itinerary and Macaroon bars appeared to be their staple diet. Kilmarnock and Partick were the main promotion contenders as St Mirren under Fergie had cleared out half their team, in a similar fashion to Jack Ross, and the new guys McGarvey, Hyslop, Stark, and Richardson were exciting the fans as the new improving 19 year old captain Tony Fitzpatrick was showing the Saints were future contenders. There was a lot of excitement about the game and Killie brought through a big support. The match was a non event but the North Bank went head to head with the Killie fans and it was carnage. Missiles were flying, bodies were falling and the St Johns Ambulance took up residence on the running track at the North Bank to deal with all the head injuries as the spinning beer cans took their toll on both sets of fans. The game was never stopped but the antics on the terracing were played out for most of the match. I was behind the goals at the St Mirren end and spent more time watching the crowd than I did the match. The Paisley Express did a big spread on the violence but no one else batted an eye lid. This sort of behaviour was ten a penny around Scottish, indeed British, grounds back in the 70's and there were more serious incidents elsewhere. In those days I travelled with the Tudor Supporters bus and a couple of the guys immortalised the day in a song. I don't think it was ever sung on the terraces but it was on our supporters bus. It's a well known tune but I don't know what it is. "Did you hear of the battle of Love Street Where most of the fighting was done It was there that a young St Mirren Buddie was shot by an olde Killie gun As he lay on the battlefield dying The blood pouring out from his head He looked at the Saints flags flying and he turned to his comrades and said Will you bury me under the goal post Will you bury me under the sun So my spirit will live on Match days when the Saints Anthem is sung. Oh when the Saints go marching in, etc"
  23. Not sure about the match tickets but Scotrail refusing to refund train tickets because they haven't yet cancelled the trains.
