  1. HHiBSS, Which one? Lemmy/Wodehouse or the O'Brien book?
  2. Just saw a program on Motörhead and was interested to see that Lemmy likes to relax by reading P.G. Wodehouse. Always a pleasure to read his works. On the subject of bicycles which we left a couple of pages ago "The Third Policeman" by Flann O'Brien would be an interesting read.
  3. Kelechi Okori: I remember the name and I'm sure I saw him play but can't recall anything more about him. Odd point, I was talking to an Ayr fan (and fellow baker) who said he was the worst player ever to play for them.
  4. O'Neill was our top goalscorer last season, I think, despite not getting picked much after February. Gillies was a skillful player altho' he never really seemed to shine in GM's formation. Ellis would have been a close call, good player but seemed to be injury prone. Either Gillies or O'Neill should have been kept in my opinion, probably O'Neill.
  5. Same authour, George MacDonald Fraser. Both sets well worth reading.
  6. scottw, I'm waiting to read "Flashman at the March", the new novel. What I like about the series is that Flashy genuinely sounds like a 19th Century bloke and doesn't have a modern liberal thought in his head. I've also read a lot of GMF's other works, including his non-fiction, and while some of his opinions are Blimpish I've enjoyed all his books.
  7. scottw, GMF was also quite active as a scriptwriter during the 70's/80's. He wrote the scripts for Octopussy, Red Sonja and The Three Musketeers (Olly Reed version) amongst others.
  8. Currently reading The Educated Maurice And His Educated Rodents by Terry Pratchett with one of the Younglings and For Two Nights Only by Tom Holt by myself. Hope to join the real world shortly. I would recommend The Scar (or anything else) by China Miéville, it's a sorta reworking of Moby Dick in a post-apocalyptic setting. After Maurice I'll be starting Harry Potter VI with my daughter, I'm not really looking forward to it as I feel the last coupla books in the series could have done with some pruning.
  9. Fraser Wishart Thomas Stickroth Roddy Manley Steve Archiebald Chic Charnley All of the above were bought for hefty transfer fees and/or big wages and contributed a lot less than was expected. Would disagree with both Jose Quitongo - Inconsistent, but was anything else expected. One of our better players in the SPL season. Neil Orr - Slow/Unspectacular but for a guy at the end of his career again only to be expected. Took a bit of criticism 'cos of his time with the Unwashed.
  10. davidg, Some albums grow on you, but some you know you're always gonna love, even if you'll sometimes leave it aside for a few months.
  11. saint gav, Good CD, bought it and like it, but for me it's only 4/5.
  12. Foo Fighters – In Your Honor RPWL - World Through My Eyes The Eels – Blinking Lights Van Der Graff Generator – Present Porcupine Tree - Deadwing Five Albums released in '05 and all brilliant.
  13. davidq, You and I and anyone else who cares will be able to renew our abuse of Aitken as he plays for Stranraer these days. I'm looking forward to seeing him at Love St. as I don't see him doing a Lavety or Yardley who still seemed to cause Morton problems even when they'd left Saints for smaller clubs.
  14. Tottally off-topic, but when I lived in England one of my mates had a brother who was in a band called Oasis (not that one). They got a record deal and were planning to release a single when "musical differences" lead to them imploding. If they had released a single this would have meant, I believe, that the Gallacher brothers would have had to pick a different name. Top Names 1. Ozric Tentacles 2. Porcupine Tree 3. Sex Beatles (shameless ) 4. Dean Ford and the Gaylords 5. Bay City Rollers
  15. I noticed but I couldn't be arsed.
  16. Hayseed Dixies or Dread Zepelin?
  17. Just remembered Dread Zeppelin - a group which (mainly) played reggaefied versions of Led Zeppelin songs. They were fronted by a 300lb ex Elvis Presley impersonater. It was one of those albums I was just gonna have to buy! Fortunately the owner of the record shop I frequent agreed to play the CD. Suffice to say I did not make the purchase. I did however take a chance on the Hayseed Dixies and didn't regret it.
  18. Who can ever remember 5 albums back? Currently - the clash - The Singles At this moment we're fightin' the law.............
  19. Thanx guys, I'll make an effort to see Schindler's List.
  20. Here's mine, 1. All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) 2. Dr. Zhivago 3. Ann Franks 4. The Pianist 5. Apocalypse Now *********************************************************** Always been wary of watching Schindler's List as I find Spielberg an overly sentimental director. Shot in black & white I believe, this along with the subject matter made me think it his "serious" film and done mainly to get the Best Director Oscar. Haven't watched Saving Private Ryan for similar reasons. Should I give them a go? (Either, Neither or Both)
  21. Ah, c'mon Howard. You must've bought some CD/lp and been dissapointed with it.
  22. Like Bill I can't manage 5 but 2 that stand out are: Jesse Collins Young: American Dream - Bought on the strength that I liked his first band The Youngbloods (mid-60's Americana: folk going to psychedelic similar to The Byrds & The Lovin' Spoonful) this album was released about 1980 and was the most insipid, wimpy AOR imaginable. Dull! Dull! Dull! M-People - Can't remember the title, I got this one matchday on my little bro's recommendation. Listened to it once, found it very bland, and gave it to brother. Possibly some ulterior motive on his part.
