  1. Went through my head too that it might be someone in for him. If so, he’d be a huge loss but you would think with his length of contract the fee would be sizeable by our standards. Hopefully just a wee niggle and back next week.
  2. Carson starts (boooooo) O’Hara missing. Starting to get nervous now.
  3. Big miss unfortunately, but hopefully Boyd-Munce will take his opportunity.
  4. We are favourites as you’d expect but Dundee will give us a game. McCowan looked a real handful against Motherwell so Tanser will need to keep a a close eye on him down their right. A win of any description would be a fantastic start to our season. Remember getting absolutely robbed by Motherwell in our first home league game last season, but we’ve progressed our attacking options and look like scoring more goals this season. Will ‘pantomime villain’ Carson play? Be a more interesting afternoon if he does. He will get a hot reception, where as big Shaughnessy will hopefully receive and return applause with the home fans. 2-0 Saints (with Carson warming the bench looking gutted please)
  5. Phenomenal result against a team with a budget that dwarves ours. Rollercoaster but brilliant spirit from us to grab the win. Delighted for Greive, he’s been working his backside off with little reward but he must be buzzing, like the rest of us. COYS!!!!
  6. That was a strange old night. We huffed and puffed and lacked quality again, against a very poor Cowdenbeath side. Similar performance to the Montrose game. To be fair, their young keeper was superb tonight and made 3 or 4 brilliant saves. We were very lucky not concede a pen in the first half and Hemming was lucky to see his blocked kick not end up in the net. Jamieson was one of the few saints players that looked like making something happen and Cowdenbeath struggled with him and Olusanya running at them. Dunne off injured again. I liked the look of Nachmani and could see him developing into a really good signing for us. He’ll be ahead of Greive in the pecking order. Still not convinced with Mandron but early days. A wee word for Zach Hemming tonight. Other than his charged down clearance, he played well. I saw him going over to greet his partner and baby at full-time. He looked relieved like the rest of us with the late win and his wee kid had a mini saints top on. It’s not his fault that he’s not Carson (who we need to punt soon for a fee-can’t see him playing for us again and we need to move on). Hopefully Zach’s confidence and performances continue to build under the guidance of Langfield, like Carson’s did for us. One minute away from going out the cup and a pretty poor performance, but we still found a way. Maybe our name is on the cup this season… 😜
  7. Definitely looks like him front row, furthest right, so can’t imagine he’d be signing for us this week, if at all unfortunately.
  8. Deja vu from this time last season unfortunately. Was sat in the main stand and Robbo was returning some abuse back to some Saints fans in the second half. Not a good look from both sides who were obviously frustrated. Lack of quality in the final third, Dunne, Fraser and Gallagher all struggling at the back, no composure, long diagonal punts from us instead of trying to play football and second to a lot of balls. Brutal watch. Gogic was by far our best player but gets hooked??? O’Hara played ok. Greive worked his socks of but with no effect on the game. Early doors, but Mandron looked poor, was absolutely schooled by a 39 year old part time centre back. His lack of physicality and touch is a worry. McMenamn looked tidy but spent the game chasing long balls and looked out of position. Collum had a typically poor game too and should’ve played advantage for the foul at the edge of the box that fell perfectly for O’Hara who slotted it home, but no excuses; we were dire against a dire Montrose team. Can’t comprehend not qualifying out that group, but a real possibility now if we play like that in the other games.
  9. Think that tells us how reliable that McMenamin source is then…
  10. Just saw this. Is it a reliable source? Would be delighted if we get him after all the negotiation shenanigans. It’s obvious that Robinson is keen on him.
  11. Always came across as a gentleman and a very good manager. Liked this wee story about him when Scotland played Brazil at the WC opener in France.
  12. Cyprus hit the bar twice before they sneaked the winner too. A draw or Cyprus victory would’ve been good but if we bury Georgia on Tuesday then it’s not as important.
  13. Baccus in the first half of the season was a stand out. The ground he covered, balls he won and his use of the ball was brilliant. He also looked exciting going forward. There was chat that he got an injury at the WC but his form dipped when he came back, but still did a great job for us. Still a surreal experience watching a Saints player mixing it with Messi at a WC. With a rest and good preseason he’ll be back to his best, but won’t be surprised if he ends up in the English Championship, but it needs to be for a decent wedge for a change. O’Hara has been phenomenal for us and I’d be gutted if he left. Strain is probably the most naturally gifted player at the club and love his attitude. Again, would be sad to see him go but if a serious bid approaching Ian Ferguson record money came in for him you’d need to wish him all the best and pocket the cash. Not sure about Watt. Was he not quoted earlier in the season saying that he loved it at Saints but would see wages as a stumbling block moving here?? Talented player but not 100% sold on him. A fit Watt under Robinson could be a tasty prospect but I remember how excited I was when we signed Brophy. Trust Robbo to come up with some more gems. Our gaffer penning an extension would be our most important signing.
  14. 6th it is, something we’d have all settled for at the start of the season. Some disappointing and frustrating performances like tonight in the last few weeks but way more positives than negatives this season. Maybe finishing out of the European places could be the difference in Robinson’s CV and him getting headhunted (which might still happen). Good foundations to build on for next season and at least we’re not Arabs.
  15. What a season the bigman has had for us. Some turnaround under Robinson. Our gaffer really does get the best out of his players. Still a wee chance of Europe after today and a great team performance. Bring on the Dons.
  16. More bothered about keeping Robinson and O’Carroll than Main and Dunne, although both are good players at our level. The turnaround in Main’s form under Robbo has been incredible. It’s easy to forget how poor he was last season, whether it was down to confidence, the system or injury. His work rate and all round play, not focussing solely on goals has been brilliant this season. His performance against Aberdeen away being the highlight so far. Dunne when he’s on it has been excellent too but he does lack consistency and liable to some daft mistakes. Big fan of Shaughnessy and Gallagher (when fit), but we will miss Dunne’s pace. Taylor’s bomb-scare 1st half against Utd away gave me the absolute fear but he actually came onto a game 2nd half so maybe he can be moulded into a decent player for us. I’d have been happy to get Main and Dunne signed up for next season but reckon they will move on to a bigger wage somewhere else. If they can get it, good luck to them.
  17. Complete stage fright today and probably our worst performance of the season but that team has got us top 6, end of. Weird feeling but on the whole a good feeling.
  18. I know Small is young but that selfish stupidly is unforgivable cmon Dundee Utd. 🤞
  19. A good wee omen for tomorrow? My son was on his way to school this morning in St Andrews and met Goodie who was in an obvious rush (presumably to get to Utd’s training). My lad told him he was a Saints fan and asked for a picture. His reply was ,”Brilliant” and he was more happy to stop and oblige. Will always be a Buddies cup winning legend and hopefully will do a job for us tomorrow as an insurance policy, although I reckon we won’t need it.
  20. And a few others. All rumours I suppose but the important thing is is doesn’t distract the team in the next few games. Remember earlier in the season when we were at Easter Rd and all of us thought he was going to take the NI job.
  21. Yaaaaaaaaaassssss. If Carlsberg did Saturdays.…Magnificent!!! COYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Not sure, but I thought Gogic had a cracking game for them today.
  23. Draw was a fair result. Blatant dive by Main so I wonder if the penalty was actually given for the challenge on Greive earlier in the same passage of play. Looked a much better claim and VAR took a while to give it.
