  3. The average age of the 21 guys listed is 24. Five of them are over 30. And that is including Gow, who I thought with a pre-season under his belt would be at least some use to us. I would like to see another two experienced players added. The games we have played so far we have been pushed, pulled and bullied all over the park. Anyway lets get full points today. COYS.

  6. From Aberdeen's Press & Journal.... St Mirren set to complete deal for Aberdeen striker 25 August 2015 by Paul Third 0 comments Lawrence Shankland St Mirren hope to complete the loan signing of Aberdeen attacker Lawrence Shankland today. The Dons forward was last season’s leading scorer in the SPFL Development League as the Dons won the division, but has yet to score a first team goal. Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes believes Shankland can benefit from the chance to play regular first team football in the Championship and Saints manager Ian Murray is eager to strengthen his forward line. Shankland, who played for the Dons under-20s in yesterday’s 1-0 defeat to Celtic, will link-up with former Dons goalkeeper Jamie Langfield, who joined the Buddies two weeks ago, following his release from the club. Former Hearts defender Andy Webster, who is a free agent, is also set to sign for the Buddies, who were relegated from the Scottish Premiership last season.

  9. According to STV. 17 premiership players still out of contract. Poor wee Thomas Reilly still with no club apparently. http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/kilmarnock/304680-the-133-premiership-players-out-of-contract-at-end-of-the-season/?
  10. Stranraer last night signed former St Mirren utility player, David Barron on a short term deal until January 2016. The 27 year old can play in defence or midfield and manager Brian Reid believes he will be a useful addition to the squad having run the rule over him in training for the past few weeks. Initially on the books at Partick Thistle, where he was released at the same time as Armand One and Frank McKeown, he joined St Mirren in 2005 and went on to make a total of 120 appearances for the Buddies until his release in January 2014 scoring only a single goal for St Mirren, in a 3-0 Scottish Cup victory over Dumbarton in January 2008. He spent the latter part of last season gaining match fitness while playing for Greenock Juniors. Div will go straight into the squad for tomorrow's match against Ayr United at Stair Park.

  15. I have found our board very frustrating. But they are the custodians of our great club, and as such need to be trusted to run it. There is no doubt all the anger and frustrations on here is because we all care for our club and want it to be successful. No matter who runs our club, we would all find fault and would do things differently ourselves. We should probably be more concerned about our team rather than our Board. Two games in and we find ourselves 6 points down! FCUK!FCUK!FCUK! The team selection was pish. The performance was pish. The manager and players need to get the fingers out of their arses and stop fannying around. There is no doubt we have the players to compete in this league, but we do need to strengthen our defence and sign another striker. Lets hope the players feel as angry as the supporters and start competing to win games. Roll on Friday 21st and start with Morton. COYS!

  19. Don't understand any of this negativity This is a great signing for St.Mirren. We have signed a top class goalkeeper. Lets hope his winning mentality rubs off on our young team. Still a couple of signings needed. Welcome to the club Jamie. COYS
  20. From the Daily Record on line... How they rated: Scott McDermott's player ratings.. Mark Ridgers 8: Didn't do a lot wrong between the sticks for Saints. Produced two very good stops from Holt and Clark - and was so unlucky not to keep Shiels strike out. Handling was also good. Jason Naismith 5: Had his hands full trying to keep on eye on McKay on his outside as well as covering in-field as Gers attacked down that side. Didn't get a break when Templeton came on. Jack Baird 7: Teenage centre-back looks to be a real find for Ian Murray. Got booked in second half but made a couple of crucial blocks on Walsh and Waghorn which could have led to goals. Sean Kelly 6: Developing as a centre-half after starting career as a left-back and was put under pressure here. Found it tough at the start as Gers bombarded them but settled more after break. Luke Conlon 7: Former Burnley full-back handled Walsh well and rarely let the Rangers winger beat him on his outside. Tried to get forward and team up with Howieson on that side to no avail. **STAR MAN** Paul McMullan 8: St Mirren's best player. On loan Celtic kid has bags of potential and wasn't fazed by Ibrox atmosphere. Sublime pass to create Howieson's goal in first half then upended for penalty. Stuart Carswell 5: Tried to be Buddies' anchor man in midfield but couldn't get on the ball often enough. Spent most of his time tracking Rangers' runners. Tough shift for him in there. Cameron Howieson 6: New Zealand international started slowly on left wing but when presented with chance in front of goal he finished superbly. Faded again in second half and was hooked. Stephen Mallan 5: In the side to be creative force for Saints but couldn't make an impact. He had one typically mazy run in the first half which required a Kiernan block but wasn't involved enough. Scott Agnew 5: Grew up in the Ibrox youth ranks so was eager to impress as advanced midfielder for Murray's men. But was over-ran in there at times and set-piece delivery let him down at times. Steven Thompson 4: Started OK but was soon bossed by Wilson and saw little of the ball. Didn't make it stick up top and his night was capped off by horrendous penalty which he blazed over. SUBS: Lewis Morgan 2: Replaced Howieson on 66 minutes but struggled to get into game. Calum Gallagher 2: On for Thompson up front against old club but no chances. Alan Gow 1: Came on for Mallan as Saints pushed for an equaliser late on. NOT USED: Wilks, Goodwin, McLear, Cuddihy. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-match-reports/how-rated-scott-mcdermotts-player-6215475
  21. Jamie Langfield. ABERDEEN FC DONS TERMINATE LANGFIELD’S CONTRACT ABERDEEN FC have confirmed that veteran goalkeeper Jamie Langfield has left Pittodrie after his contract was terminated. Langfield hadn’t featured for the first team this season and was third in the pecking order of keepers, behind Danny Ward and Scott Brown. The 36-year-old is now expected to join Championship side St Mirren as a player and goalkeeping coach. Langfield said “I have loved my time at the club and have spent the best period of my career here. “However, I still have much that I want to achieve and am looking for an opportunity to continue to play regular first team football. “I also want to look at the option of combining playing with coaching going forward as I see this as a long-term option for me.” Aberdeen FC manager Derek McInnes added: “Jamie has been brilliant to work with and his desire to keep playing first team football is admirable and understandable. “On behalf of everyone at the club I would like to thank Jamie for his tremendous service over the years and wish him all the very best for the future wherever that takes him.”
