  1. He says that he hated him THAT day, not that he still hates him
  2. Interestingly, in the first election in Scotland after Thatcher won power in the UK, the European Parliament elections, Thatcher won more votes than any other party. She even managed to win more votes than Labour and won 5 of the 8 seats on offer. Her 33.7% share of the vote suggests that she wasn’t that unpopular in Scotland. By the time of her last general election victory, Thatcher’s share of the vote stood at a very respectable 24%. In the following general election, under John Major, the Conservatives won 25.6% of the vote. Margaret Thatcher was popular in Scotland with a sizeable proportion of the electorate. She was far more popular than the SNP.
  3. Relevant to the point that the SNP have never been as popular in Scotland as Margaret Thatcher.
  4. Still less than Thatcher won in 1979.
  5. No, I don't think he was. Investors = shareholders Customers = fans Stuart actually had a point though. I don't disagree with him.
  6. Yes, it was indeed a question. I hadn't thought about the scenario of Killie ending up in the play offs. However, being 7 points ahead of Motherwell who only had 12 points left to play for, having a far better goal diference and also, at that stage, having a game in hand, possibly dampened their desire to win.
  7. Paper money is actually made from trees surely? And St. Nicholas was a real person who lived in what is present day Turkey.
  8. There are a few players in that list who might be possibles. For example Gary Irvine at Dundee is an experienced right back who may allow Naismith to move into central defence. Paul Lawson was at Saints on loan when Gus was manager. Had a successful spell as a defensive midfielder at Ross County but has been less successful at Motherwell. And of course, Graham Carey. Maybe dropping down a division may be more his level?
  9. Can't imagine Slater coming back to St. Mirren! He left because of David Longwell.
  10. If I remember correctly, it was from an Ian Ross cross as well! Nipped in at the back post. Complete and utter ecstasy. My celebrations at that goal were on a par with McKnight's at home to Falkirk and away to Ayr and Junior's at Kirkcaldy. What a season. As shull says, Iain Nicolson was a legend of that season. I have always been surprised that he didn't end up spending more of his career in the top flight. Seems to be a case of potential not being fulfilled. Always a quality player IMO.
  11. Just like we were going to finish 8th this season?
  12. Sorry to hear that. The crosses from Nicolson & Ian Ross back in 99/00 contributed to so many goals in possibly my favourite ever season watching Saints. His equaliser at Dunfermline also provided a moment of sheer magic. Hope he makes a full recovery.
  13. I'd give the job to Billy Reid
  14. Think you may be getting your seasons mixed up there Stu. We were in a battle with Dunfermline in 06/07 and had bad result at home against Dunfermline in the run in where we could have settled things but didn't. We actually did have a few good results in that run in ourselves though, especially beating Dundee United at Tannadice where Kirk Broadfoot gave his 10/10 performance. It was 08/09 where we lost 3-1 at home to Motherwell in the run in where we could have effectively been safe but ended up needing the 2-0 win at Falkirk to seal the deal. Again, though, we had a great win at Fir Park just before the home defeat. Swings and roundabouts. The run in this season has just been defeat, defeat, defeat. Indeed, its so bad this season that we are effectily down before the main run in has even started!
  15. In St. Mirren's case, as the majority of the investment is owned by the directors themselves, this means that they only really need to impress themselves? They wouldn't need to appear on every national new outlet to do that surely?
  16. Weekly texts? Is that all? I get personal visits from BoD members on a twice weekly basis...
  17. Getting some insight into the "inner workings" of the club isn't something that I personally expect in return for my hard earned cash! As much as it pains me, oaksoft really does have a point... some folk need to get a grip! The "plan" for next season will no doubt be to attempt to at least reach the play offs!
  18. Maybe the plan is to bring in an experienced keeper as player / coach?
  19. Not sure that the FA have the authority to tell clubs what players to choose?
  20. Good thinking. NI is capped at a weekly level as well, so a lump sum would save NI? Probably got that wrong!
  21. As far as I'm aware, Jack was made redundant when they decided to outsource the sports complex under the Caledonian Stand. I don't think he was happy about it. I'm sure someone else can confirm or elaborate or deny...
