If I had seen those odds I'd have been tempted... Cheering? You are a disgrace! Saints first, money second!

St Mirren v Falkirk 17/4/2018 (defo)
Cornwall_Saint replied to Lord Pityme's topic in Matchday & Travel Club
It may have been a weakened team but it's not like we were playing a bunch of U19s or something stupid. Had our best and main goalie in. Demetriou has featured a number of times this season and over the past 18 months. Baird has pretty much been a regular, especially during our CB injury crisis. Irvine hasn't been completely absent this season, Donati, yeah fair enough, we haven't seen him up til now. Same goes for Mark Hill tbh but some on here say he was alright. McShane was regular until Flynn was up to speed. McGinn - captain so obviously regular. Mullen has started every game recently, Reilly has 22 goals this season and that leaves Hippolyte who scored our goal and going by comments on here, played well. The only ones here that I'd question would be Hill and Donati as Hill is a loanee who hasn't really featured and Donati isn't someone we really want to look at as being a regular next season. Irvine is a maybe but unlike the other two he's been here longer and knows fully how we approach games, and he has had appearances this season. We lead until the 83rd minute and some shit defending messed it up, it's not like we got humped 5-0. -

Next season is more important for him in all honesty. This season was about avoiding the relegation playoff after Falkirk's disastrous start. Job done, now the aim will be to get back on track to fight for promotion. -

Did Shull do these highlights? Would never have known Samson saved a penalty -
Can't believe you got 4/1 on it, we've already sealed the title

Cove Rangers will take on Spartans in the promotion playoffs to try to get into L2. Cove have walked the Highland League this season (3 games left, they have a GD of +107) while Fort William have less points than Brechin (3pts, GD -132, 5 games left). Spartans won the league on the final day after a 0-0 draw with East Stirlingshire, while crucially East Kilbride missed out on a second straight title after losing 2-0 at Stirling University. Spartans won by 2Pts. Potential relegation for Hawick Royal Albert depending on if someone below wants promotion, after last year seen Edusport Academy replace Preston Athletic. First leg takes place in Cove on the 28th April. For the second year running Cowdenbeath will have to defend their place against the non-league winner.

The one thing SD has got in his favour right now is that Liam Smith will be going back to Hearts and chances are Gary Irvine will be leaving too. With only Eckersley left at LB/RB you'd be looking at 3 signings before it would make sense to release SD (unless we have a random youth suddenly ready to step up). He's played a good part in both our survival and title bids and it's a shame that he's had some dodgy performances this season. He's definitely had some excellent moments. -

Apologies to Dumbarton. Would have been excellent to see a team with a few second stringers win but it wasn't to be. Hopefully we'll go strong against M*rt*n and f*ck them up. -

Is it weird that they might do this a 2nd time when we play them on the final day? -
Champions v Morton. Trophy Presentation 21/4/18
Cornwall_Saint replied to shull's topic in Matchday & Travel Club
I've got a spare (well my mate has) as I bought two tickets to go along with someone, and ending up arranging to go with him after he had got his own ticket. Ticket was sold but unfortunately the bud in question cannot make it now. Section W2 x1 Adult ticket, PM me if interested. -
Sounds awesome, I'm in.

Brilliant! Didn't expect them to do it the same day we got the trophy so that's an extra treat as I'll be there that weekend! Canny wait. -
......... and ah'm no jist sayin' that !!
Cornwall_Saint replied to Wilbur's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
This. Players and management should be taking every game as it comes, aiming for 3pts in each game. Leicester might not have set themselves the target of the title initially, but what they did was fight for every point and eventually it came to a point where they realised just how well they were doing. Burnley would be a solid example for this season in the EPL. With the right attitude and approach to each game there's no reason we can't have a decent season. (Although I'll be happy with survival for the first year ) -

There's a bit of a difference though with Leicester defeating financial giants while we would have been said to underachieve last season pre-January. I'd only be 100% sure Dundee United had a bigger budget than us this season, can't be sure about ICT/Falkirk/Pars. -

Got to love him -
Many on here had great things to say about Brechin's hosting. They sound like a top bunch over there. Relegation won't come as a shock to them but it's a shame their team has only giving them 4 draws this season, their fans deserve a lot better. This is one of the major problems of allowing a club who finishes 4th in the league below a chance of promotion. It's effectively a reward for finishing in the top half of the table.

I mustered through two pages at the start before giving up, but it was very interesting to often see Livi predicted to be fighting the relegation playoffs, with Falkirk and ICT challenging at the top. I think I'd have had Livi between 5th and 8th (with Morton, Pars and QOTS), and originally would have had Dundee United to win the league and ourselves, ICT and Falkirk in the playoffs. I'm glad to see I'd have been wrong here! I don't think anyone is surprised to see Brechin bottom...

The £10 I spent was £10 I won't be seeing again from 5 horses I had 3 non-finishers, and the 9th and 11th placed horses!

He'll be back but now it's a question of can he do it in 4 years time? Opportunities to compete for Scotland instead of Britain are very limited, it be such a shame if he doesn't do the job under the Scottish tag.

Samson - The Modern Day Les Fridge
Cornwall_Saint replied to shull's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
Great to see Samson be a part of winning two trophies with this club. I will never forget the penalty save against Celtic in the semis, and you do wonder if that night in Paisley when we won 2-0 over the Arabs, was his penalty save the moment the season turned to us and against Dundee United. Well done to that man. Seen a video from someone in the Family Stand when the players were doing their walk round the pitch, you could see just how much this meant to Sammy. It's brilliant seeing such a passion in a player. Obviously it meant a lot to all of the players but watching Sammy was brilliant. In reference to earlier comments, my first Saints keeper would have been Ludo. -
Absolutely gutting, he's a Buddie too. I used to run with him in the U13s and U15s level for Kilbarchan, he was clearly a cut above the rest as he dominated every race, but he never let it get to his head, always friendly with everyone. Very sad to see this happen so close to the finish. Hopefully his recovery is quick and successful.
