  1. Hmmm possibly. Don’t have particularly vivid memories of him like I have the others.
  2. What an array of talent that is right there. Can name them all except top right and the guy behind Fergie. Who are they? Well, in fairness I cannae name the guy in front of Fergie either but I don’t think he played for us. Incidentally, Bobby Torrance was one handsome f**ker wasn’t he. Edited to add further observations. Is that maybe Billy Johnston behind Fergie? And Derek Hyslop looks like a mugshot of a serial killer! 🤣
  3. Why would you say “aren’t all fans beneficial to the club” when I clearly stated in my post that fans who choose to support the club in the way you do are “hugely beneficial to the club”? That doesn’t make any sense. The point I was (I thought clearly) making, was that in the unenviable and highly unique circumstance of the club HAVNG to make a choice between the two, I could understand why they would err on the side of STHs. What is so difficult to understand about that?
  4. We’re not all khunts you know!!! I am obviously, but not all of us
  5. Yes Oaky, but Pod pays a premium for his preferred option of deferring his contributions to the club. That’s fair surely?
  6. The way I see it (and it makes no difference to me as I fit neither category) is that STHs pledge their cash to the Club up front which for obvious reasons will be highly beneficial to the club. You choose for reasons or convenience best known to you, to pledge your cash to the club on a week to week basis, which is still obviously hugely beneficial to the club, but arguably slightly less so. So, in the highly unenviable position of the club having to make a very difficult decision, I could understand why preference would be given to STHs over fans in your category.
  7. I always thought he was 6ft max. Fair due if that is his height. It would appear I exaggerated by half an inch. 6ft 2 1/2 in. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Václav_Hladký
  8. Yes all of that but you don’t want to say I told you so do you? I’ll tell you when you can say I told you so. When Vaclav has hung up his gloves and hasn’t aspired to anything higher than us. Your opinion of him is based on his time as a bit part player for Slovan Liberec (I’m still unconvinced by how much of him you saw, but will have to take your word for that) and his time with us where you have just described him as “phenomenal”. So I’m still struggling to understand your view of him being nothing special.
  9. For someone who “doesn’t want to say I told you so” you seem to be bumping your gums a lot about what you told us. I wouldn’t mind, but the prospect of Hladky signing for Salford doesn’t prove a single thing you said.
  10. Eh? He’s 6ft 3. He’s hardly a short arse.
  11. Aye I think this season will be the measure of that. Will he still be giving the likes of Gilmour a chance when he can actually buy players. Time will tell I guess
  12. Aye they’ve got one or two decent players 🤣
  13. Just to do a wee Ronnie Corbett style digression for a minute, speaking of the Chelsea midfield, do we think that Billy Gilmour will amount to anything, or will he just be another wee Scottish guy who looked quite good but ultimately did hee haw.?
  14. Ahhhhhh got ye. i just assumed everything anyone said on here was true. 😄
  15. Do we actually know what Hibs sell on deal with Villa was? Was it 10%?
  16. I couldnae give a monkey’s if we pocket a cool mill.
  17. The Fakes should stick with the Fake crowd noise after folk are allowed back in. Atmosphere is much better than the normal McDairmid.
  18. If Goodwin it true to form, Dennis won’t feature on Saturday and definitely won’t start. Be interesting to see if Jim deviates from the norm.
  19. And what was Vaclav earning with us? Also those are average amounts and clearly some players will probably be earning a lot more than that and some a lot less. Just pure speculation on my part, but I’d have thought Vaclav would be one of the higher paid players. In any case the point I am making (and only speculation as I say) is that Vaclav will be earning a tidy sum more there than he was here. If that is the case, then clearly a step up for him.
  20. In fairness DJ, I didn’t say League 2 was a step up in quality compared to our level. I said the move was a step up for Vaclav. Your point is noted, but unless you can prove to me what a capped salary in League 2 looks like in comparison to a salary with us, then I’ll continue to hold that view.
  21. Second favourites to win League 2. Given the owners, won’t be short of a bob or two. I accept that I thought he’d get a bigger gig than that, but anyone deluding themselves that it’s a step down from us is.......well........deluded. Also love the the way TC has decided thatAlnwick is much better after 3 games. I too have been impressed with him so far, but it’ll be a good few more games before I’ll be claiming he’s better than Vaclav.
  22. Because a butcher’s apron does not a good cushion make.
  23. Seems like most on here are sorry to see him go. That’s something I guess. https://boards.footymad.net/showthread.php?t=38264915
  24. 79/80 to 84/85 was without any doubt the best period in our club’s history. A 3rd place, a 4th place, 3 5th places and a 6th in the League. 3 cup semi finals An Anglo Scottish Cup win 3 of only 4 European adventures in our history. For a club like ours it was a golden period and I feel privileged that those were my formative years as a St. Mirren fan. The mid 70s gave me the bug and then that period just sealed the deal. I could have extended it out to 87 to capture the cup win, but as magical a day as that was, from 86 onwards, as a league team you just felt that the rot had started to set in a little and we were definitely no longer the consistent force we had been before.
