  1. It is "largely along that design" in as much as it is also t-shirt. Just shows you Adidas have got their moneys worth from their designers over the years. It's all in the details. Those saying "its just a strip ffs" would do well to remember the sole reason we were relegated last time round was solely and entirely due to the car crash of a strip with the illuminous yellow touches that nobody could even fit over their heid. Or maybe that was just symbolic of the lack of interest in running the club at the time... To be honest, it is an improvement on last seasons. I suppose the reason grown men get so worked up about a shirt is just simply the hope each year we might go back to the traditional black & white stripes we all fell in love with at some point in our youth. It wouldn't be that difficult, would it?
  2. Wright has a lot of potential. Maybe an attitude problem as he hasn't really kicked on. I'd say he would be worth a punt if willing to knuckle down.
  3. I must have missed the part of the season when Hodson turned in to a world beater for us! Two very good solid performances over the playoffs though. All the best Lee.
  4. You seem to revel in highlighting your own ignorance.
  5. Please do not use the good name of Guni if you are only going to write this level of nonsense on here. To start with, MacKenzie didn't show up "when contracts get handed out". He was injured. Did you think he had a hangover and was phoning in sick for 8 months?
  6. Josh Heaton is probably a better 'keeper than Danny Rodgers to be honest.
  7. There was so many of Stubbs Duds kicking about I forgot he existed. What happened to him?
  8. We seem to be stuck here because of the fear of paying a transfer fee. In the last few years though we have carried quite big squads, at times massive squads full of rubbish actually. Would we not be better to try and assemble a squad of 14 quality players backed up by young players from the academy? Lose a few from the wage bill and use that money to ensure we have a lean squad of Hladkys, Popescu, Flynns and Mullens rather than a huge squad of deadwood.
  9. 100% in agreement. Who are we going to be replace him with? His ability on the ball and ability to turn defence in to attack mark him out as a cut above the usual standard of player in this league. I would not only be finding the money to sign him, but building the spine of the team around him. He would be a great asset to a fast, counter-attacking style of football (which is exactly the style we should be playing) Get him signed!
  10. Wishful thinking. Its the lowest "6 figure sum" we have.
  11. I believe it was actually 650k was it not?. Either way, its a quite incredible waste of money. But no, Kpekewa isn't worth that. If we are using him as a barometer of transfer value we could make a few million just selling some of the steamers in our away support!
  12. I'm sure costs will relate to basic event management and security costs only.
  13. Or two players for the squad next season. (Or one very good one!) Getting United in the playoff turned out quite well for us in the end
  14. What has your constant negative pish got to do with supporting St Mirren? Each to their own.
  15. Wouldn't be like the police to miss out on an easy pay day! Seemed to be plenty overtime in the town in the evening to ensure no signing and dancing in the street would break out.
  16. Never a dull moment on here. Welcome to the close-season meltdown thread.
  17. I'm sure you are correct in that his initial intention was just to highlight a preference for a St Mirren team of local players that have come through the academy. I think we all agree that would be lovely, as would winning the Champions League with this team of local superstars. To then start talking about St Mirren "exploiting cheap foreign labour" though is a rather poor way to word things, to say the least. We would have been relegated without Hladky and Popescu. I wouldn't like to think of them reading a thread that refers to them in that manner. On a more practical level, we can't even compete with the likes of Motherwell, St Johnstone, Killie & the Dundee clubs when it comes to wages. We either need to bring players through the academy (which we can manage 1 per season if we are lucky) or cast the net far and wide to bring in players that want to use St Mirren as a stepping stone to bigger clubs. Does the nationality of any of these players matter? Of course it f**king doesn't. For a club of our size we are already punching above our weight with developing young Scottish players, as can be seen by McLean, McGinn and Morgan all in the Scotland squad no doubt to be joined by Mallan and McAllister in the not too distant future. Pointless conversation anyway. As soon as we leave the EU without a deal, get stuck on WTO trade terms, and the pound crashes Scotland is going to be one of these "relatively impoverished countries" and our players will be looking for a move to Dinamo Bucharest for a chance to earn some foreign currency.
  18. You are talking so much pish on this thread you have me agreeing with f**king Oaksoft over you! Our eastern european brothers are very welcome to come fight the good fight! I'm sure we will keep producing good young players at the academy funded by our stay in the Premier League. Less of the jingoism please, and certainly less of the harking back to the good ol days of a Labour government and shifts at the mill / down the pit!
  19. Its nothing to do with Shull. 90% of people have him on ignore! The fact that Jimmy Nicholl has walked for Dundee does make me wonder what is going on with OK again though. Very poor we have let such an experienced assistant/coach leave for a lower league team, especially given how things had improved towards the end of the season.
  20. Really clear? When? I do wonder why Goodwin knocked back the Dundee job....
  21. Have you been bitten by one of the forum zoomers?
  22. Dinamo would surely know a club at St Mirren's level in Scotland would not spend 350k. He has been good, but not quite good enough to attract bigger clubs for him. Maybe another year loan or a transfer with a large sell on fee could be worked out. Who would do a negotiation like this for us by the way? Gordon, Gus, or Tony Fitz? I certainly hope it is not the latter!
  23. I know you are disillusioned with the Labour party, but there is no need to go full card-carrying swivel-eyed Brexiteer on us... We should always look to have 3 or 4 academy players in the team, playing alongside top quality experienced professionals. We are more likely to get those quality experienced professionals from overseas.
