  1. I don,t think Goodwin would be a highly sought after player if we had released him . Refs basically have it in for him , and the opposition exploit the fact , which in effect makes him a liability , theres lots I like about him , and other players seem to get away with more . I just feel that we need a strong spine of experienced players running through the team , and squad in place that should be able o provide this. We have a squad where the majority of players are under 21 or over 30 , ideally I think we shave the biggest percentage of the squad in the 26 - 30 age group , where the would be fitter , stronger , experienced , and less likely to be out injured.
  2. Thought he was very pro Thistle in his refereeing , there was actually one occasion when he asked the Thistle wall to move forward when Saints had a free kick , never ever seen that before.
  3. A couple of players like Jon Robertson with a few seasons experience in the lower leagues , would have added more to the squad than the likes of Ball and Marwood
  4. The decision to renew Teale and Goodwin have proved to be poor decisions . We should have signed a few players aged between 25 - 30 , who would be at their physical peak , and less likely to get injured , and also offered a bit of experience on the park on a regular basis. Hoping we can get a few players back soon , as we have very few options on the bench to change things
  5. Don,t know about the McFadden thing , but did see the article about Thommo being out for the whole season , and am quite concerned. Wondering if our season gameplan is to accept relegation if it happens , and create a blank canvas for a new manager or new owner ,
  6. today the team put loads of effort into the game , but the reality was it was a reserve team due to injuries and suspensions , its hard to criticise the manager because he didn,t have a massive budget and we have been unlucky with injuries . Should we go down , I think its good that we don,t have any players on silly contracts Also we have a few young players getting better every week So in the big picture things aren,t all bad Just a pity we have to watch games , where we don,t seem to be getting the breaks
  7. Sometimes we have to let things run their course and have to put things in context , and perhaps accept a season where things might not go to plan , we are a provincial club , and there is not a lot of room for mistakes , and I think we have made a few over the last couple of seasons , that has effected our current player budget . We have also been unlucky with injuries . How many games have we lost by the odd goal when there has been very little to chose between the teams ? Maybe by perserveering with the current squad and accepting the worst case scenario we might be in the good shape to bounce back up , or at least not have not have back to back relegations . The youngsters playing for us are giving their all , and deserve our support .
  8. I think there used to be 20,000 shares , and to raise money for the old Caledonain Street stand a further 20,000 shares were made available at £20 a share , and this allowed a new group of individuals to increase their share holding , and probably created a few changes in the major shareholders of the club. The next lot of shares became available , when a resolution was passed to make 120,000 shares available to allow an individual the opportunity to own %75 of the club , these shares were made available at £5 each. The present board probably obtained the majority of their shares at £5 a share , and I hope they make a wee profit to acknowledge the hard work they have put in. Also hope that the club club will be sold soon , and we can make a few decent signings during the next transfer window
  9. looks like an attempted elbow , which should be treated the as a player trying to punch another player but missing with the punch , perhaps St Mirren should send it to the SFA for clarification , also ask whether there is a special sfa ruling that allows players to barge into Jim Goodwin , and give him the odd kick , without a foul being given. That said , Goodwin should be able to manage his aggression better on the park , and as said elsewhere , he should go down when he,s fouled and milk it like others do . He is no angel but other teams target him . Having said that , he,s just the kind of player we need against Inverness , who will kick us all over the place .
  10. I believe Mehmet could do a decent job for us , I also think he played in a tougher league last time he was with us , and would do better against the current defences in the spl , not the messiah , but a hard working team player , who would make a difference and help us stay up
  11. remember that happening with Ian Munro in an Anglo Scottish cup tie Billy
  12. Think his experience would be helpful , might even team up well with the Hawk
  13. Goodwin was fouled three times and the referee chose to ignore each foul , Goodwin was just brushing off as he is entitled to do . Is it right for an attacker to be so aggressive towards a defender and not expect the defender to look after himself
  14. Mykey , I was thinking about the 7/1 bet that referred to Motherwell being bottom , though with all the takeover talk in the background Craig losing his job might be a possability
  15. Just checked bet365 and they are offering the following odds on teams finishing bottom of the SPL Ross County 6/5 St Mirren 9/4 Motherwell 9/2 Partick Thistle 10/1 Thinking Motherwell might be the team to have a wee flutter on . Are we not bad odds at 9/4 , bearing in mind we have loads of injuries and a tiny squad .
  16. wondering if the fans takeover thing in the background means no funds available to strengthen the team , hence McCall deciding its time to move on , if we had managed a draw at their place first game of the season , they would be well isolated at the bottom , thinking they could be bottom by christmas
  17. A Scottish club with ownership that has good football contacts in Holland would be excellent , chuck in a modest budget to bring players in and that's better still. I,m quite happy for us to take a wee gamble on the clubs future . I think the best way for St Mirren to progress is to build as big a support as possible , and that's quite difficult when the team loses every week . New ownership , a couple of new signings and a wee change might be quite good Saints ,.
  18. Craig has been set up to fail , he has a threadbare squad , and his experienced players are past their best . He has been given very limited funds to put a squad together , and it could be argued we are doing well to be where we are , given that injuries to experienced players have forced him to field a team of boys each week .
  19. I suspect the contract St Mirren have in place for players in their youth development programme will be a standard one used by most Scottish clubs who develop young players. Developing young players is part of St Mirren,s business plan , which is to produce young players for the first team , and also hopefully produce players that can be sold on for a development fee. Falkirk , are very good at this and have made substantial amounts of money ( I have heard £2 million ) , from selling on teenagers. I think the whole issue is more than just the player concerned . To survive , smaller clubs need to have a contract in place so that they are rewarded for the youngsters development . Without any sort of contractual agreement , parents and agents would just have young players just moving from one club to another for whatever reward they are able to get , and there just isn,t that kind of money in Scottish football.
  20. Wise Choice by York City , Danny should be able to bring down a few players from Scotland that will be able to do a good job there . Good Luck Danny Might even take in a wee trip down.
  21. It would create a wee bit of banter , which would maybe get the westbank sing more often
  22. What about calling yourself " the Left Side " , and having the occasional taunts at " the Right Side " to encourage them to sing ?
