  1. I heard we were offered the choice of several Motherwell players of which cooper was one , it is worth bearing in mind that Cooper was finished by then and shortly after moved to Clydebank ,wewere also to get half of any transfer fee for Paul Lambert ,only no team in UK wanted him
  2. Got windows double glazed last year , from a really good guy recommended by a friend, tried the usual suspects CR Smith etc ,and they were either overpriced , phoning up imaginary managers , and over aggresive to get the deal. Anyway , I got the guy my mate recommended who done a great job, at a great price BUT A year later ,he went bust ,and that would have lost you a bit of money if you had paid a deposit. So what I would recommend when you do find someone is pay your deposit with a VISA card to give yourself some sort of protection , and then avoid the big double glazing companies that charge a fortune . Some of the companies advertised in the Daily record might be not a bad starting point.
  3. The legend that formerly was Sephiroth ,may be able to get something drawn up ,that you and your boy could colour in together
  4. Driving to the Aberdeen game , I was listening to the footie chat with Chic Young , the Irish Guy English and Billy Dodds , and the discussion was about whether the players were playing for the manager , whether they weren,t getting the breaks or whether they just weren,t good enough. Dodds and English were giving the players a hard time , and I tended to agree with them. The attitude shown during the Aberdeen and Hearts game was completely different from the attitude shown during the previous games. I don,t know what has changed the attitudes , but something has , and I wish it had been in place for the home games against Thistle and Motherwell . Still onwards and upwards , a top six place and a good cup run , may be a possability after all
  5. We had eleven good performances yesterday. The whole attitude of team seems to have changed , no pointing of fingers , no not chasing back , players getting stuck in , players encouraging each other , fans getting behind the team, long may it continue
  6. I think the reference he makes to the 1979 - 80team is that he simply gets Peter Weirs and Frank McAvennies names mixed up , when he,s trying to stress the quality of the forward line. The Smith and Bone management team done very well in their transfer dealings , and started the 87 - 88 season relatively well , but long term injuries to Abercrombie and Cooper didn,t help , neither did the transfer rumours etc upsetting Ferguson , or the carry on McGarvey had after his stramash with Bone . Saints got drawn into the relegation battle because a few players weren,t giving their all. Second time round Saints sold Baker , Lavety , Elliott ,Stickroth , Torfassen , Aitken , Gillies and Lambert, so the incoming transfers would be a lot closer to the £1.7 million , than we initially thought
  7. Me too , thinking we should be looking at right sided options involving two of Teale , Caprice or Newton , and be using under 20 games to see which combination works best
  8. I liked him , and as stated its his confidence that makes him a better option than Cornell , he seems a bit of a character , and I think regular involvement with the first team set up , would mean that he would probably sign a two year contract with us. Mon the Dil
  9. Nigel Clough , would be an interesting choice
  10. Alloa v Hamilton , Alloa have not a bad keeper , would be not a bad signing Paul Gallagher is Alloa,s goalkeeping coach
  11. I think when we kicked off against Oldco on Christmas Eve we were all quite confident about getting a result , and I reckon that the team that started that day , was probably our best starting eleven on the last 20 years
  12. If we had eleven players on the park giving their all , playing for one another , and playing for the fans I,d be happy. Danny Lennon must know which players aren,t giving their all , and who the shit stirrers are. If he has one more game to try and save his job , I,d rather he worked with the players he trusts to go out and graft for the team . And if that means half the team being youngsters , then so be it , rather have that than the shambles I,ve seen this season.
  13. Not one of the current squad of players. Is there an experienced player about who is a free agent that can come in and do a player managers job ?
  14. Shades of 87- 88 ,here with players having an eye on the management jobs themselves . During the last year Saints produced two excellent results at Hampden , which shows what the players are capable of doing when they are listening to the management and giving 100 per cent. Unfortunately what we have witnessed since is an unorganised shambles , with senior players making no effort whatsoever to take responability and organise things on the park. I would be very unhappy if these players are offered contracts at the end of the season
  15. I believe the senior players aren,t showing any loyalty to their manager. At the very least we should be a well organised side ,and the senior players have to take some responsability to make sure that organisation stays in place when the game kicks off. We are so unprepared for this season ,poor squad ,poor organisation ,poor team spirit.
  16. Div has been quiet ,despite contributing early doors with this thread ,and Mr rea has been quiet too ,despite teasing us a wee bit . Hopefully that means ,that they are both aware that somethings happening , but hae been adised to, be patient ,and keep quiet for a couple of days whilst things evolve, Most importantly ,lets hope the B of D , have found the right people to sell to.
  17. We havent won a game in six outings this season ,so we should give anything a try , especially if it enabled us to get our best eleven players on the park
  18. Interesting to see how we start tomorrow , we are on a two week unbeaten run ,Dannys been working with the squad for two weeks and had a chance to assess his new signings , hoping he freshens the team up a bit , that we a few changes in the team ,and that we,re fired up for a result.
  19. My oldman was at the Blair Atholl horse trials the other week as a guest ,and ended upsitting next to a Saints supporter
  20. Fellner was actually quite good ,I think he played as a trialist and we couldn,t afford him ,McQuilter did okay ,cost us nothing and I reckon wouldhave become a good player for us if he never picked up injuries ,and Kinsey only played a couple of games for us and scored. Players for a St Mirren duds team , for me would include Dow, McPherson , Twaddle ,Mark Reid,Charnley , and Eric Sinclair

    Taggart

There was a character named after an ex St Mirren player in one episode of Taggart , when the scriptwriter tried to get the Dunfermline Cup Winning teams names scripted into an episode
