  1. Not sure what everyone else thinks - but I reckon we should probably keep him...
  2. Hopefully related to Stelios. If so - sign them! Might be getting a bit carried away here but too happy to care!
  3. No longer a "Must Win". Wow - what a turnaround! ach well - lets just win it anyway...
  4. is this the worst Morton team in living memory? Cappielow - hosted the nadir of the Saints season - now witnessed the zenith!
  5. Radio commentary has Jack Baird playing a blinder. Keep it up Jack! [emoji3]
  6. Absolutely. I've taken a look at Dumbarton's recent results. As well as beating Morton at home last week, they have picked up draws on the road against us, Hibs and Falkirk. To be fair they have also been beaten by Ayr and Dunfermline on other recent away days but it is quite clear that they are capable of getting results on the road and are no mugs. I expected and hoped for a win yesterday but I guess we just need to take the point (which was all we deserved) and move on. I think Tuesday night's game will suit us more and I believe we can get at least a point to go clear in 9th.
  7. Had an hour to kill between the end of the game yesterday and a hospital visit so went for a wander and located the mural. Good way to use up some of the time and got a few good photos with the wee guy pretending to hold the cup etc. I got the chance to explain who all the guys in '87 section were. I was also dumbfounded to see a big cheesy Chick Young looking back at me. His is the single biggest image of any individual on the whole mural - on a par with the St Mirren badge and the larger depiction of the Scottish Cup! I'm not a Chick Young hater - We all know (ok - are 'pretty sure') that he is a Rangers fan with St Mirren sympathies - but any publicity is good publicity, so I don't really have any great beef with him. That said - he does not warrant such a prominent place in a mural of St Mirren's recent history. One of the 1987 heroes would have been better served there. Alex Smith? Ian Ferguson? Fitzy? What about extending it to 2013 - Danny Lennon? Thommo? Almost anyone would be a better fit for such a large section of the mural.
  8. Apologies in advance for asking a question with an obvious answer - but I'm not in the west central/west end of Paisley much. Going through by bus for the first time in a few years, I noticed the big 'Hamish's House' pub. The pub sign looks to be same sign as the old pub under Gilmour Street. Has it the same owners as my old pre-game/post game stomping ground? If so, have any regulars migrated with it?
  9. Just heard that on the radio just now. Great for those of us who can't make it Tuesday night. I mentioned this to the wee man - but listening to commentary on the radio is a step too far for him at the moment - but I'll be 'there'!
  10. Indeed. Not a great game yesterday but we are still off the bottom. Jack still has his junior moments but he is a young player with good potential. The McKenzie / Baird partnership looked good for the most part against Ayr and will have good days and bad days just like any other partnership. When Harry Davis is back (assuming he does come back), Baird will get a rest and his development can be more carefully managed. We needed him to step up, and I think he is doing all that can be expected considering the pressure pot we are in and his relative youth and inexperience. Jack is not a concern for me. I am concerned, however, that Jack's nickname appears to be "Jacko". This is a major problem and needs to be addressed immediately
  11. He will be a big miss - especially when added to the list of Davis and Morgan. I hope you are right Magnus, we could really do with him against Morton. I'd want him in for that game rather than Saturdays
  12. Does that not have entrance fee?
  13. Can anyone recommend a family friendly pub where i can take the wee man after match? I've got an hour to kill before we can pitch up at RAH for visiting.
  14. 1407 from Central got a lot of Hibs fans on it. Wee man not used to the noise [emoji16]
  15. I'll need to branch out. Unfortunately my online Paddy Power app doesn't give a First Goal Scorer market.
  16. Agreed - Stelios should be started the midfield today and Gary Irvine coming back in to full back. It can be changed if the plan misfires - but if it works it could be spectacular.
  17. 3-1 is my call as well, Drew I've put my money where my mouth is with a stonkin' £2 bet with my internet bookie I had 4-0 last week for Ayr game - never been so happy to lose a bet and cheered just as loudly for Morgan's goal as I had for the others (I had a couple of 'savers' on less ambitious Saints wins so was still up at the end). I believe we will be 9th after full time today but would be willing to accept 8th...
  18. As someone who championed Tom Walsh at various times in the past, I won't be a hypocrite and jump sides even though the vast majority are on the other side of the fence. I still believe he has great ability and the impact he had from the bench in some of his 10 appearances were outcome changing. He looked quite skillful in flashes and sometimes was responsible for the few enjoyable moments in otherwise turgid games. However - I didn't see his performance against Morton (well not on the bits I watched on periscope) and I accept that you need to take your chances when you get them. I also wouldn't want to upset the balance in Jack's new team - so Stelios deputizing for Lewis Morgan and Gary Irvine returning to replace him would be my choice. In terms of the OP's point - I don't agree that Walsh should return to the starting XI at the expense of Stelios. However, I would not be averse to some kind of 'pay as you play' or end of season deal for him; which might motivate him to sort his workrate out and give us some benefit of his talent (as well has saving his own career).
  19. Good shout. I had forgotten about Div TV. That will be my preferred option on the Tuesday night. Hopefully it will be a karma 'full circle' moment as the first time i used periscope was to witness the disgrace of our last visit there.
  20. A completely deserved award - a look at the form table made that decision a no brainer. As others have said we are playing some pretty decent football and when I see us go forward now, I feel realistic confidence that we are going to create something. Compare the youtube highlights from earlier on in the season to those of the recent games (particularly the 2-0 at home against hibs and the 6-2 on Saturday); what is greatly satisfying is the verve and skill on display - all the wee tricks at speed, the close control, the tight passing, the fancy footwork - but all acutally leading to something. More than that we are all now expecting it to lead to something. Expectation is high but delivery on said expectation is sound. Now, hopefully. we will avoid the ancient MOTM curse
  21. Home top - black and white stripes (in traditional St Mirren style) Away top - black and red stripes (in traditional AC Milan style) End of [emoji3]
  22. I really hope the new kits are something like this. I always liked the AC Milan style away top from a few years ago although I was in the middle of my 'away from football' phase so never got it at the time Saints will make a fortune from us if they deliver as above. I'll be buying 2*full kit for the boy and both home and away tops for me. Does anyone know if there is a retro top seller that may have the original black and red away top from a few years ago?
  23. I think I may need to take my Black and White tinted specs off... But its going to happen!
  24. Yep - agreed - he was v good on Saturday as was everyone else. Other games have been a bit less clear cut. I'm not a hater - I would just like to see a bit more from him before I shout for him to be retained. I think overall he has delivered just about enough to be kept but he has not had the impact I would have hoped for and therefore if he left I would not be overly disappointed (hence 'meh') That said - if he sticks away a cheeky hat trick on Saturday I will happily revise the above, scrape the egg off my face and make a nice egg sandwich.
  25. The ones i would disagree with would be: 5. Gordon - undecided as opposed to out - like to have a chance to see him play again. 8. Quinn - potential squad player (although i grant that injuries are a problem) 15. Baird - Must keep! 16. Loy - meh 19. Stewart - I'd give him a chance to prove himself 23. Fjelde - decent squad player and his name gives squad list a more continental vibe [emoji3] 25. Todd - worth a squad gig. BTW - I think this is a good thread - it's good fun to talk about the future when, for a change, the future looks good [emoji4]
