Couldn't believe my ears half an hour ago when Gordon Daziel, on Clyde1, said that Rangers HAVE to be in the SPL "otherwise clubs like St Mirren would go to the wall". The guy is a moron of the highest order.

I can empathise with you Somner. I've been in your position for years. I've taken every opportunity over the years to point out where I think St Mirren are going wrong and I've tried, usually in vain, to offer a suggestion as to how to remedy the situation. More often than not I was vilified or just people just posted hate filled bile aimed at me. I could handle that cause I'm not a St Mirren supporter and if their customer base wanted to blindly follow their leaders excusing every dubious behaviour I knew it would have little effect on me. However you claim to be a St Mirren supporter, dead against the CIC which you state is threatening the clubs very existence, and yet for all your waffle you haven't yet come up with anything that has given other supporters cause to share your concern.
Can I share a little bit of friendly advice though? Others have already said much the same thing too, but Somner if you really do hold a silver bullet that will put 10000hours down once and for all, why not drop the alias, get out to those meetings, have the courage of your convictions and make sure that every single St Mirren supporter hears you express exactly what your concerns are. You might not be able to turn the tide now, but at least your conscience will be completely clear knowing you did absolutely everything in your power to save your beloved club.

That is certainly not my intention, i thought my above email was just answering the questions he posed.
I dont think I am being aggressive and I am certainly not using any vulgar or rude langauge, I am just trying to address Somners points and trying to get past what he is saying the "many" believe in order to deal with his own questions where we can actually know what "he" believes

As I have said many times both publically, privately and indeed i think on this forum I have no problem, at all, if folk do not want to be involved my aim is to make sure that everyone has as much information and chance to have their questions answered so that they can make up their minds as an informed decision, rather than based or rumour, assumption or misinformation.

Unfortunately apart from Gordon Scott (bid rejected and has invested elsewhere) and Ken McGeoch there have been no bids made for the club (that we know of) from within the St.Mirren support.
So, selling to a co-operative of supporters looks like it is going to be the only way the selling consortium can ensure that control remains in the hands of the people who value the club most.
Unless of course they disband the consortium and sell their shareholding individually to others. Which won't happen this far down the line.

I don't see how this has a negative impact on "the club". As far as I can see the club's strong stance will be applauded by football fans around the country.

Speculation on my part - but I believe there would be money to be made from the fact that he'll have headed up the biggest social enterprise takeover of a sports club in the UK to date. It's a pretty big "in" for a market place where fan ownership is going to become a more desirable club ownership model - and of course there are huge construction and maintenance programmes being run in sports club stadia and venues nationwide.

...and I very much look forward to that day. You'll know that, unlike many others, I've been solidly behind RA and the CIC bid once my initial disappointment was allayed. Of course I've never been convinced that St Mirren supporters deserved or would know what to do with the potential that has been gifted to them, but they'll hopefully get their chance to prove me wrong in due course.
It's Pozbaird I feel most sorry for though. Imagine going this far and then declaring he'd lost interest in the whole thing and was now only interested in eating pies - just days before confirmation that the bid is close to conclusion.

Stuart Gilmour can't say that Stuart and you know it!. Ken McGeoch has been working with Gary Withey??/ ......The man who disappeared from a burning wreck of a club AND Law company. Game over for the Whyte/ McGeoch plan now and he should certainly get his chance to speak at the AGM before being booted into the fire and never darken our door again. As for the future.....REA will have a bid in place "very soon" which will take away your concern of Mrs Purves etc.

So why did your post appear to put the boot in to REA and the CiC. Going from Stuart Gilmour's recent BBC interview we may have just dodged a bullet from the consortium being diligent, would any future owner of the club be the same ?
The CiC/Coop is not perfect but I think it's the best deal to safeguard the long term future of the club. By all means bring up points and issues that can be looked at and resolved whether by negotiation or under a constitution but get involved and have a say in the the club's future.

Well played Stewart Gilmour not in rejecting the bid but in outing a possible conflict. I reckon this was a calculated move. As far as I'm concerned Ken is out of the running.
Hopefully REA (a good guy) can do the deed.
